Bilawal Bhutto inaugurates Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Expressway

KARACHI: Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari inaugurated the phase one of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Expressway.

Chairman PP Bilawal Bhutto arrived for the inauguration of Zardari Expressway where he himself drove his vehicle on Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Expressway, on this occasion Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah was also present.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also paid Rs 100 toll tax on the expressway and inspected the expressway in detail.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Sindh Chief Minister said that it is too late for us to build the Bhutto Expressway. He said Shaheed Benazir Bhutto had given a package 30 years ago, this package included the Lyari Expressway and other projects.

Chief Minister noted that the expressway will connect to the Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway (M-9) via DHA and the existing link road, aiming to serve as an alternative to Shahrah-e-Faisal once it becomes fully operational in 2025. It is expected to link major industrial zones and alleviate congestion on Karachi’s roadways.

Provincial Minister Sharjeel Memon commented that Bhutto Road represents a significant step towards development. He emphasized that the expressway establishes a strategic link between central Karachi and the motorway, ensuring seamless access to the National Highway.

Malir Expressway will resolve traffic woes of city: CM Sindh

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Sunday inspected under construction Malir Expressway and other ongoing development projects of Karachi city.

Murad Ali Shah inspected the Malir Expressway at the City School chapter. Talking during his visit Sindh’s chief minister said, “it is 50 kilometers long road from Qayyumabad-KPT Interchange to M-9 Kathore”.

He said that the issue of traffic jams will resolve with the construction of the Malir Expressway. “Malir Expressway being constructed with the cost of 29 billion rupees,” he added.

CM Sindh also inspected Malir Expressway at Deh Drigh and directed officials to remove encroachments from the area to increase the construction work of the road.

Murad said that the People’s Party will inaugurate Malir Expressway after six to eight months. “It will be the first Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project of Pakistan to be operated without subsidy,” Sindh CM said.

The chief minister said that biogas is being used as fuel in the project. He said that the engineers have promised to complete the fly-over project by March 23.

“They were giving a deadline for completion of the Underpass, me told them to complete it soon,” Shah stated.

“Mashriq Chowk Road at Hawkes Bay has been completed, while KNIB project Kakri Ground will also compete this year,” he said.

“The work has been underway on the treatment plant under the Public Private Partnership mode,” he added.
