Court acquits Sindh CM in Nooriabad Power project reference

ISLAMABAD: An Accountability Court acquitted Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah in the Nooriabad Power Project reference.

Islamabad Accountability Court Judge Nasir Javed heard the Nooriabad Power Project reference against the Sindh Chief Minister and others, where the lawyer of the accused, Barrister Qasim Nawaz Abbasi, appeared in the court.

Accountability Court accepted the request of Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB)to withdraw the reference and acquitted the Sindh Chief Minister in the reference.

The accountability court also acquitted all the other accused named in the Nooriabad Power Project reference.

Earlier, An accountability court in Islamabad had summoned Chief Minister (CM) of Sindh Murad Ali Shah in an alleged illegal award of contracts in Nooriabad power plant and money laundering charges on March 31.

As per details, a reference was filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) according to which Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah is accused of misusing the power in the disbursement of funds for the Nooriabad power plant project.

The Sindh CM along with co-accused including Khursheed Anwar Jamali and others have been asked to appear before the NAB court on March 31.

The record comprising statements of witnesses and proofs have been submitted in the accountability court against Murad Ali Shah consisting of 66 volumes by NAB Rawalpindi.
