RAWALPINDI:  Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) indicted Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) founder and former minister Fawad Chaudhry in a case of contempt against ECP and chief election commissioner.

The contempt case of Election Commission against founder PTI Imran Khan and former minister Fawad Chaudhry was heard in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail where a four-member bench of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) heard.

During the hearing, PTI founder Imran Khan and Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party(IPP) leader Fawad Chaudhry were present in the court room.

In the court, the charge sheet was read out to the accused, on which they denied the allegations in the charge sheet.

Later, the Election Commission adjourned further hearing of the case till January 16.

It should be noted that a jail trial has been approved against Imran Khan and others in the contempt of election commission case.

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Mian Naseer challenged the nomination papers of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) founder for National Assembly seat NA-122 from Lahore.

Mian Naseer of PML-N has filed an objection on the nomination papers of  Imran Khan saying that the founder of party is convicted and therefore cannot contest the election. .

Mian Naseer has further said in his objections that the nomination papers of founder PTI should be rejected due to his conviction.

The returning officer fixed 2 o’clock to hear the objections on the nomination papers of founder PTI Imran Khan.

The returning officer said that the decision will be taken after listening to the objections filed on the nomination papers of the founder of PTI.

On the other hand, the scrutiny of the nomination papers of PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and Vice President Hamza Shehbaz Sharif has been completed, while objections have also been filed on the nomination papers of Maryam Nawaz for the Punjab Assembly seat PP 80 from Sargodha.

The PTI leader claimed that the party will win the general elections in February 2024.

It should be remembered that the general elections are going to be held in the country on February 8, 2024, while the Election Commission of Pakistan had withdrawn the bat symbol from PTI declaring the intra-party election null and void for not holding the election as per the constitution.

ISLAMABAD: Accountability Court Islamabad has approved the judicial remand of former prime minister and founder of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) in the Toshakhana case.

Islamabad Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Basheer heard the Toshakhana case against PTI founder Imran Khan in Adiala Jail, in which the former prime minister was presented in the court after completing his two-day physical remand.

During the hearing, the National Accountability Bureau(NAB) requested the physical remand of Imran Khan and asked for another three days’ remand.

The court rejected NAB’s request for physical remand and approved Imran Khan’s judicial remand.

Both politicians have pleaded not guilty to their involvement in the offense related to the alleged misuse of diplomatic cable for political purposes.

This was the second time that the PTI leaders were indicted

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Special Prosecutors Shah Khawar and Zulfikar Abbas Naqvi appeared in the court. Founder PTI’s lawyer Usman Gul and Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s lawyer Barrister Taimur Malik appeared in the court.

After the indictment of the accused, the regular trial of the cipher case will begin in Adiala Jail.

Civil Judge Qudratullah heard the alleged illegal Nikah case of Chairman PTI and Bashra Bibi in the District and Sessions Court Islamabad.

During the hearing, petitioner Muhammad Hanif withdrew the case against Chairman PTI.

The petitioner said that he wanted to withdraw the case on technical grounds, on which the court accepted the petition and dismissed the case.

It should be noted that the petitioner had accused Chairman PTI and Bushra Bibi of Nikah during the Iddat period.

ISLAMABAD: A sub-committee of the Federal Cabinet has recommended the names of Chairman Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) along with 29 others in the Exit Control Lists in the 190 million pound scam.

A meeting of the sub-committee on ECL of the federal cabinet was held in which the caretaker interior minister Sarfaraz Bugti, the caretaker Minister of Communication Shahid Ashraf, and the officers of the Ministry of interior and other institutions participated while the various types of cases related to ECL were reviewed in the meeting.

The cabinet sub-committee has recommended putting the names of 41 people on ECL, in which 29 others, including chairman PTI, have been recommended to be given ECL on the recommendation of NAB in the £190 million scam.

Sources said that the committee has also recommended the names of Shahzad Akbar, Zulfi Bukhari, Farah Gogi, and property tycoon to be included in the ECL.

The committee also recommended the removal of 13 different types of cases from ECL and on the instructions of judiciary, names of seven persons have been recommended to be removed from ECL.

Apart from this, out of the appeals presented for review, it has been recommended to remove the names of three persons from the ECL.
