COAS Pays Glowing Tribute To Pakistan Police On Police Martyrs Day

General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) visited Command & Staff College (C&SC), Quetta today (Monday) and addressed officers and faculty of Command & Staff College.

According to the details, COAS has addressed staff course-2020/21, focused on professional matters, internal & external security situation, and matters concerning the regional security environment.

Speaking on the occasion, COAS emphasized Pakistan’s resolve and determination to confront the global phenomenon of terrorism by adopting the whole of Nation approach. COAS said that the future of enduring peace and stability in South Asia hinges on the ability to resolve long pending issues within the region.

This can be complemented through meaningful international support and the will to take on complex challenges. Focusing on the COVID-19 pandemic, COAS said that Pakistan Army along with other state institutions will do all to mitigate the challenges faced by the people of Pakistan. Only a cohesive national effort shall take Pakistan to progress and prosperity, COAS said.

Earlier on arrival at Quetta, COAS was received by Lieutenant General Sarfraz Ali, Commander Quetta Corps, and Major General Amer Ahsan Nawaz, Commandant Command & Staff College.

COAS appreciates Bill Gates’ Efforts Towards Polio Eradication In Pakistan

General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), and Mr. Bill Gates, Co-Chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) had a telephone conversation, today.

Matters related to Pakistan’s commitment to comprehensive Polio eradication and COVID-19 were discussed.

COAS said that it was a national cause and national effort. He said that we will only call it a success when no child is affected by Polio anymore in Pakistan. Credit goes to the grassroots workers including mobile polio teams, Law Enforcement Agencies, and health representatives.

Mr. Gates conveyed his special appreciation for the Pakistan Army for supporting the national polio drive and ensuring proper reach and coverage of polio campaigns this year, particularly through the involvement of community leaders and influencers.

COAS appreciated the untiring efforts of Mr. Bill Gates and his foundation towards the noble cause of Polio eradication at a global level and assured him of continued support.

‘Pak-KSA cooperation will have positive impact on peace & security in the region,’ COAS

General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) called on His Excellency Lieutenant General Fayyad Al-Ruwaili, Chief of General Staff (CGS), Saudi Armed Forces in Riyadh, today.

According to the statement released by the media wing of Pakistan Military Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday, matters of mutual interest, regional security situation including Afghan Peace Process, defense and security, and military to military cooperation were discussed during the meeting.

ISPR in its statement added that COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa emphasized the need to further enhance military to military cooperation between the two Armed Forces and said that Pakistan-KSA cooperation will have a positive impact on peace and security in the region.

During the meeting, CGS KSA thanked the COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa for his sentiments and assured of full cooperation and support from KSA in all initiatives aimed at improving regional cooperation, peace, and stability.

COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa arrived in Riyadh on Tuesday ahead of the trip by Prime Minister Imran Khan to Saudi Arabia later this week.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa was received by Pakistan’s recently-appointed Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Lt-Gen (retd) Bilal Akbar and Saudi military officials. He will meet Saudi civil and military leadership in what seems to be part of the preparation of the prime minister’s scheduled to take place on May 7.

The visit of the Army Chief and upcoming trip by the premier is seen as significant as these developments suggest a thaw in ties between the two countries.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia Relations

Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have enjoyed a longstanding strategic relationship, which in recent years met with certain roadblocks.

The first real test of their ties came in 2015 when Pakistan refused to send troops to join the Saudi-led military campaign in Yemen.

The relationship returned to some normalcy after Pakistan joined the Saudi-led Islamic military alliance against terrorism and sent former army chief General (retd) Raheel Sharif to attend the group.

When Prime Minister Imran took charge in August 2018, Saudi Arabia extended a $6 billion financial package to Pakistan to shore up its depleting foreign reserves.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has on Tuesday chaired the 239th Corps Commanders’ Conference at the General Headquarters (GHQ),military media wing stated.

According to the press release issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the participants undertook a comprehensive review of regional and domestic security environment with special focus on situation along borders, internal security and other professional matters of the Army.

In the backdrop of Kashmir Solidarity Day, the forum positively noted the increasing realization at international levels about worsening humanitarian and security crises in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJK).

The forum also reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support to resilient Kashmiri people for their just struggle for right to self-determination in accordance with relevant UNSC resolutions, said ISPR.

The Commanders also noted that the enormity of the security challenges warrants a holistic national response, keeping national interest above everything else, added ISPR.

ISPR further added, the participants also underscored the need to ensure continuous operational preparedness to thwart any possible misadventure from adversary.

The forum also expressed complete satisfaction over countering hostile intelligence agencies’ design to disrupt peace and progress particularly in Balochistan and Gilgit Baltistan which lay exposed to the entire world thus vindicating Pakistan’s stance on role of hostile agencies in training and funding of terrorists.

Dividends of improved security situation including return of international cricket in the country is a result of numerous sacrifices rendered and challenges overcome to eliminate extremism and terrorism from Pakistan. We will stay the course InshaAllah, COAS concluded.

The Army Chief on the occasion said that Pakistan Armed Forces, with the support of our great nation, are fully prepared to vanquish threats in all domains.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa lauded the professionalism of Army Air Defence and expressed complete satisfaction on operational readiness.

The Army Chief emphasized that there is a need for greater cooperation, integration and synchronization to tackle complex and fluid battlefield challenges that lie ahead.

Army Chief and Air Chief witnessed ongoing field exercise, where concepts related to optimum use of Long Range Air Defence weapon systems and airspace management were practised.

The exercise manifested the concept of Comprehensive Layered Integrated Air Defence in which Air Defence weapons of all regimes were incorporated.

The exercise was particularly aimed at achieving synergy amongst Air Defence elements, manoeuvring forces and all aerial platforms including fighter aircraft helicopters and drones, thereby mastering response against any misadventure by the enemy.

During the meeting, Sefik Dzaferovic and Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security and Pak-Bosnia & Herzegovina relations.

The Army Chief said that Pakistan attaches great importance to brotherly relations with Bosnia & Herzegovina.
