Non-bailable arrest warrant of KP CM maintained

ISLAMABAD:  The non-bailable arrest warrant of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in the arms and liquor case maintained.

The bailiff report of Ali Amin Gandapur’s arrest warrant was presented in the District and Session Court Islamabad, which stated that his arrest warrant could not be executed.

In the bailiff’s report, respite was requested for the execution of Ali Amin Gandapur’s arrest warrant. The investigating officer was absent on the occasion of the hearing while the lawyer of Ali Amin Gandapur appeared in the court.

The judicial magistrate adjourned the case till October 23.

On October 5, the court had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Ali Amin Gandapur in the illegal arms and liquor case.

The case was heard in District and Sessions Courts Islamabad. The court had said that Chief Minister KP did not appear despite several court summons, he should be arrested and presented to the court on the next hearing.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case till October 12.

It should be remembered that Judge Shaista Khan Kundi excused herself from hearing the arms and liquor recovery case.

CTD kills 209 terrorists across KP in last 9 months

PESHAWAR: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has killed 209 terrorists and 244 were held during intelligence based operations across the province during the last nine months.

According to the statistics issued by CTD, It said that a total 497 incidents of terrorism took place in 27 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last nine months in which 1,154 terrorists of banned organizations were nominated in FIRs, adding that so far 16 accused had so far been punished by the relevant courts.

Sharing the details, the CTD report stated that 39 terrorists were killed in 52 incidents of terrorism occurred in district Dera Ismail Khan, the hometown of the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and provincial Chief Minister. The police arrested four terrorists.

Similarly, 22 miscreants were killed and 25 were held in 55 incidents in Khyber district, it said, adding that 54 incidents of terrorism were reported from North Waziristan wherein the CTD police killed 27 terrorists and arrested eight others during the operations.

The provincial capital witnessed 33 incidents of terrorism during the last nine months where 66 terrorists were arrested and eight were killed.

In district Shangla, six incidents of terrorism were reported in which 33 terrorists were arrested and one was killed.

The CTD police killed two terrorists and held three others in ten different incidents of terrorism during the period.

Likewise, 11 terrorists were killed in 39 incidents in South Waziristan, while one was arrested.

In 39 incidents of terrorism registered in district Bajaur, some five terrorists were killed while eight were arrested.

District Bannu witnessed 40 incidents of terrorism wherein 21 terrorists were arrested while 15 were killed.

Two terrorists were killed in two incidents of terrorism in district Buner, four were held and four others were killed in one incident in district Charsadda.

The CTD said that six incidents of terrorism occurred in district Lower Dir where two suspects were apprehended. Similarly, two terrorists were held in district Hangu where nine incidents of terrorism were reported.

In Karak, three suspects were arrested in connection with five incidents of terrorism. Four terrorists were killed in Kohat where five incidents occurred.

Six terrorists were held and one killed in 17 incidents of terrorism in District Kurram. 14 terrorists were killed and eight arrested in 37 incidents of terrorism in District Lakki Marwat. 25 terrorists were arrested in four incidents of terrorism in Malakand.

Similarly, four suspects were arrested in one incident of terrorism in Mansehra district. 11 terrorists were killed and nine were arrested in nine incidents in Mardan.

In Mohmand district, eight incidents were reported wherein six terrorists were killed and one was arrested.

Five terrorists were arrested while two were killed in seven incidents in Nowshera district.

The CTD killed 28 terrorists and arrested six suspects in 51 terrorist incidents in Tank District.

Punjab CM approves collective weddings program

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired provincial cabinet meeting in which the largest historical program of collective weddings in Punjab was approved.

The project of group marriage of 3,000 girls from poor families was approved across Punjab. Rs. 100,000 as wed money will be given to the bride through ATM card.  As many as 13 items including furniture, clothes, dinner sets will be gifted. CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed to increase the scope of collective marriages.

The Cabinet approved allotment of one lakh acres of land to landless farmers on lease for three and five years for the purpose of temporary cultivation across Punjab. In the meeting, e-bus service scheme was approved in Punjab, under which 27 buses will arrive in the first phase. 1.2 MW solar panels will be installed in the parking lot of e-buses for charging purpose. As many as 680 e-buses will be functional across Punjab by the end of the current year.

The Chief Minister sought the ‘Electric Taxi Service Plan’ in Lahore. Maryam Nawaz Sharif ordered strict monitoring of flour and chicken prices across the province.

It was informed in the briefing that 170,000 farmers in Punjab received Kisan cards. Kisan cards were issued to 267,000 farmers. Around 1.1 million farmers applied for obtaining Kisan card. As many as 1-2 million applications were received for Green Tractor Scheme.

The scrutiny of 700,000 applicants for green tractors has been completed. Approval was granted to transfer funds to the Housing Department to construct 839 houses of New Pakistan Housing Scheme in Raiwind, Chiniot and Sargodha.

Age relaxation of five years has been approved for promotion to the posts of Inspector, Sub-Inspector and Assistant Sub-Inspector.

ISLAMABAD: The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur in the illegal arms and liquor case.

The District and Sessions Court heard the illegal arms and liquor case against Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.

Judicial Magistrate Mubasher Hussain Zaidi heard the case registered at Barakahu police station. Ali Amin Gandapur did not appear in the court despite several court summons.

The court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Ali Amin Gandapur and ordered that Ali Amin Gandapur be arrested and brought before the court on the next hearing.

Court acquits Sindh CM in Nooriabad Power project reference

ISLAMABAD: An Accountability Court acquitted Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah in the Nooriabad Power Project reference.

Islamabad Accountability Court Judge Nasir Javed heard the Nooriabad Power Project reference against the Sindh Chief Minister and others, where the lawyer of the accused, Barrister Qasim Nawaz Abbasi, appeared in the court.

Accountability Court accepted the request of Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB)to withdraw the reference and acquitted the Sindh Chief Minister in the reference.

The accountability court also acquitted all the other accused named in the Nooriabad Power Project reference.

ATC issues non-bailable arrest warrants of Gandapur

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Terrorism Court(ATC) Islamabad has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.

The hearing on the petitions related to the May 9 cases against the PTI leaders was held in the court of Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra of the Anti-Terrorism Court.

On behalf of lawyer Zahoor ul Hassan, Ali Amin Gandapur submitted a request for exemption from attendance, on which Prosecutor Raja Naveed said that the court should see the conduct of the accused, there is a continuous violation.

Judge Tahir Abbas sipra remarked that last time he applied for exemption from attendance and on the 8th the physicality was fine in the meeting, on which lawyer Zahoor ul Hassan said that the court should approve the application for exemption today.

Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra rejected the plea of ​​immunity and issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Ali Amin Gandapur, Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi, Raja Rashid Hafeez and Amir Mehmood Kayani.

The court has declared Umar Tanveer Butt as proclaimed offender due to his continuous absence.

It should be noted that a case has been registered against the PTI leaders in the I-9 police station under the provisions of terrorism.

Policemen to wear body cams in Punjab

LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz  has said that the government wants to equip police personnel with body cameras to ensure transparency and better behaviour.

Directing the authorities concerned to improve the police performance, she said realtime monitoring of the personnel would also be possible through the body cams.

“The purpose of installing body cameras is to improve the police behaviour and ensure monitoring,” she said. The chief minister said the use of social media by police officials was affecting their service. She directed the police officers to focus on professionalism instead of social media.

Maryam Nawaz directed that body cams will be installed on police operation, investigation and traffic wing personnel, while an order has also been issued to ban the use of social media during duty.

It is being told that on the order of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, measures have been started to install body cameras on the Punjab police personnel.

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has banned police officers and personnel from using social media platforms including Tik Tok, Facebook and others for on-duty policemen.

The Punjab police have banned the use of social media platforms by the Punjab government for those who appear to be busy making Tik Tok videos instead of performing their duties.

In this regard, IG Punjab has issued a social media usage policy for officers and employees. Police authorities have informed that strict departmental action will be taken against officials who upload videos in uniform.

On the orders of IG Punjab, AIG Operations has issued instructions regarding the social media policy, which states that no activity will be done on social media without the permission of the DPO Unit Head.

Personal, political or religious views of police personnel cannot be shared on social media. Official channel related to police activities will be operated by DPO unit head only.

The private individuals will not be allowed to use police vehicles or offices for social media activity.

The Regional Police Officers(RPOs) and Unit Heads will be personally responsible for the implementation of the Social Media Policy.

Sindh CM takes notice of alleged rape of polio worker in Jacobabad

KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday took notice of alleged rape of a woman polio worker in Allah Bakhsh Jakhrani Goth Jacobabad.

Chief Minister Sindh has asked the Commissioner and Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Larkana to report the incident. He directed authorities concerned to provide protection to lady polio workers.

He further directed for complete investigation of the incident and ordered early arrest of accused. He also sought reported in this regard.

Murad Ali Shah instructed local administration to fully cooperate with polio worker.

Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Sindh Syed Asif Haider Shah also took notice of the news about alleged rape of a woman polio worker in the media.

He sought reported from Commissioner Larkana and DIG Larkana. He said polio workers should be provided protection in every case.

He instructed DIG Larkana to arrest accused involved in the incident as soon as possible.

Earlier, an incident of alleged rape of a woman administering anti-polio drops to children has taken place in Jacobabad.

In Allah Bakhsh Jakhrani, a village on the outskirts of Jacobabad, there was an incident of alleged rape of a worker who was going to administer polio eradication drops.

The victim woman has been shifted to St James Hospital for medical assistance.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Smeer Noor says that raids are being conducted to arrest the accused.

Governor, CM visit Mazar-e-Quaid on his 76th death anniversary

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori and Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah along with members of the provincial cabinet visited Mausoleum of the father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and paid homage to him on his 76th death anniversary.

Kamran Khan Tessori and Syed Murad Ali Shah offered Fateha and laid floral wreaths on the shrine and prayed for the prosperity and development of the country and the province.

They also penned comments on visitors’ book to pay tribute to Quaid on his struggle for creation of separate homeland for the Muslims of the Sub Continent.

Speaking to media after paying homage to the father of the nation, Sindh Governor said there was dire need to follow Quaid’s principles of unity, firmness and discipline so that country could be taken to the right track.

He said Quaid was a brave and principled leader who always remained committed to democratic principles throughout his life.

He said as per Quaid’s ideology, extremism has no place in the country.

Governor Tessori said present government was determined to make the country Quaid’s Pakistan.

The 76th death anniversary of the father of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah is being observed with due solemnity, with the pledges to follow his golden principles of “unity, faith and discipline”.

The day dawned with special prayers in mosques and other worship places for eternal peace of the departed soul and for peace and prosperity of the country.

Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah served as leader of All-India Muslim League from 1913 until Pakistan’s creation on August 14, 1947.

QUETTA:Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti took notice of closed government schools of Pishin district and directed to reopen them till December 14, 2024 for interest of students future.

He expressed these views while visiting of Pishin District. The chief minister said that no compromise would be made on education, provincial government was starving to provide all opportunities to official schools to improve quality of education saying that teachers would be appointed on contract basis to meet shortage of them in the educational institutions.

The CM said that Pishin would be made model town with the aim to provide basic facilities to public in the area.

“Public issues will be solved by ensuring of good governance” he said and added that he was striving to ensure better services delivery of government departments after functional them which was also essential for progress of the province.

Punjab Govt forms investigation committee in Sania Zehra murder case

MULTAN:  Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz formed a committee to investigate the murder of Sania Zehra.

According to the details, RPO Bahawalpur Rai Babar, Additional Secretary Home, Deputy Prosecutor General Ismatullah Khan and CPO Sadiq Dogar are included in the committee.

The committee will review the investigation on a daily basis and meet the requirements of justice. Punjab Interior Department issued the notification of the formation of the committee.

On May 9, the case of the alleged suicide of Syed Asad Abbas Shah’s daughter Sania Zahra came to light in Multan, on which Sania’s father Asad Abbas accused Sania’s husband Ali Raza and her in-laws of killing her daughter, but initially the woman’s death was declared as suicide and the body was buried.

The deceased’s body was buried by the heirs without post-mortem, after exhuming the grave with the permission of the local magistrate, samples of the body were obtained and sent to the forensic laboratory in Lahore, the preliminary report of which has come out.

The preliminary investigation report of the incident was also sent to the Punjab Chief Minister and the IG. According to the forensic report, the incident was a suicide, and in the post-mortem, no sign of violence was found on the body.

Police officials said that the woman died due to a rope trap, the report did not find any injury or sign of violence on the girl’s body, there is no fracture in the woman’s body.

Sindh strengthens nutrition Initiatives with support from UNICEF, USAID

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that his government has reinforced its commitment to addressing malnutrition and stunting in the province with significant support from UNICEF and USAID.

The CM acknowledged the critical role of international partners in combating the challenges exacerbated by the devastating floods of 2022.

Murad Shah said that UNICEF has been instrumental in supporting the review and approval of the Breastfeeding Act, enhancing humanitarian and multisectoral coordination, and providing vital nutrition services in hard-to-reach areas. “Through outreach teams, UNICEF has facilitated the early detection and treatment of wasting (severe malnutrition) and addressed micronutrient deficiencies,” he said.

He added that UNICEF has provided Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) to the People’s Primary Healthcare Initiative (PPHI) and other civil society partners, significantly contributing to the fight against malnutrition in Sindh.

The chief minister also acknowledged USAID’s extensive support, particularly its provision of financial assistance to UNICEF for integrated health, nutrition, water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), and protection services.

It may be noted that USAID supplied 98,500 cartons of RUTF worth $4.4 million or Rs12.2 billion for malnourished children in Sindh.

The CM expressed gratitude to USAID and UNICEF for their continued partnership, which has been pivotal in addressing the health and nutrition needs of women and children in the province. He reiterated his commitment to tackling malnutrition through multisectoral initiatives, community engagement, and social protection programs, supported by substantial financial allocations in its annual development program.

 

Mr Shah praised UNICEF as a strategic partner across various sectors, including health, WASH, child protection, and education. He emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration to overcome the multiple challenges facing the province.

Sindh to distribute 200,000 solar kits among low-income families

Sindh government introduces 0.5 million solar systems for deserving residents

KARACHI: “Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, speaking at the signing ceremony of framework agreements for solar systems, said that 200,000 Solar Home Systems (SHS) would be provided to low-income households selected through the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) data in all districts of the province.”

He said that by the end of October first batch of 50,000 SHS kits would reach Karachi for onward distribution.

Murad Shah said that the Sindh Solar Energy Project (SSEP) was being executed for Rs27.4 billion with the $100 million financial support of the World Bank.

According to the CM Component – III of the SSEP the Provision of 200,000 Solar Home Systems (SHS) to low-income households in all districts of the province under BISP Data.

Murad Shah said that the Solar Home Systems would consist of an 80-100 W Solar PV Plate, a minimum 18 AH Lithium-ion battery, one  DC fan, three  LED bulbs and a mobile charging facility. The SHS set was shown to the Cm which he approved.

The chief minister disclosed that the system’s estimated cost was around Rs.55,000,  including transport, taxes and duties and would be provided to eligible low-income families at around 80 per cent subsidy.

Sharing the criteria, the CM said that the selection of low-income households has been made by using the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) register of low-income households as the criteria for household eligibility; The poverty scorecard ranging from 21 to 50 has been initially used.

The BISP data ranging from 0-20 are those households, having no capacity of paying at least Rs6000  for a solar home system kit, the CM said and added that these poorest households would be provided solar kits under the Annual Development Program (ADB scheme) of the Energy Department.

Sindh, fed govts agree to establish SEZ on remaining steel mills land

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister  Murad Ali Shah and Federal Minister for Industries & Production Rana Tanveer, in their meeting at CM House, discussed the revival of the Pakistan Steel Mill plan and the establishment of a Special Economic Zone on the remaining land.

The CM said that the proposed Special Economic Zone project was discussed in the cabinet on May 30, 2024. He added that his cabinet proposed the federal government establish the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) on the extra land of Pakistan Steel Mill.

CM Murad Shah said that his cabinet was of the view that the 700 acres of land earmarked for the Pakistan Steel Mills plant should be kept intact for the revitalisation of the Steel Mills Plant or setting up a new Steel Mill, any additional requirement of land for the purpose should be worked out mutually.

At this, Federal Minister Rana Tanveer proposed that the Federal Government was ready to allow the Provincial Government to revive the old steel mill plant or install a new one on its 700 acres.

The CM said that the 4,840 acres of land may be utilized to set up SEZ for the federal and provincial government. Rana Tanveer said that the federal government from its resources would start developing the SEZ to be given to Chinese investors.

Murad Shah said that the SEZ was located close to the sea, and its infrastructure was in place along with necessary water and gas facilities. He added that these facilities would be enough to make the SEZ one of the best zones in the country.

The provincial and federal governments agreed to complete the paperwork at the earliest so that the zone could be established promptly.

The Special Economic Zone would generate employment opportunities and contribute to the country’s economy. The CM said he, with the support of the federal government, would make all-out efforts to revive Pakistan Steel Mills on Pakistan’s People’s Party mode so that this national asset could be utilized for employment and economic development.

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur has sent a defamation notice to Governor Faisal Karim Kundi.

Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has sent a notice of one billion rupees as damages.

In the text of the notice sent by the lawyer, it is said to pay Rs 500 million as damages for damaging the reputation of client and Rs 500 million separately for causing mental stress to his client.

According to the text, his client was accused of signing off on the Operation Azm-e-Istehkam while the Chief Minister did not sign any signatures for the operation in the Apex Committee meeting.

The Chief Minister will present the matter before the Assembly and the Cabinet before taking any decision.

The notice said that baseless allegations have been made against his client.

Murad travels across Sindh to ensure safe, secure Ashura

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah led the main Ashura procession at Numaish and then flew to Hyderabad, where he also participated in the procession at Imambargah Mola Ali and took aerial views of the processions.

The CM then, accompanied by Home Minister Zia Lanjar, flew to Hyderabad, where he visited Imambargah Mola Ali. He led the mourning procession and went to the Command & Control Centre to inspect the monitoring system.

The CM, on his way back to Karachi, took an aerial view of the Ashura processions of Hyderabad and Karachi.

On his landing in Karachi, Murad Shah visited the CPO, where he was received by Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon.

The CM was taken to the Command & Control Centre at the CPO, where he witnessed the monitoring process of the Ashura procession. The IG Police, briefing the CM, said that over 350 dedicated cameras were covering the procession from different angles to ensure its security.

The CM directed the IG police to continue security arrangements until the mourning processions were terminated, and the people returned to their homes.

Hyderabad: Replying to a question, the CM said that a political party did not emerge merely by winning votes and bagging seats, but it needed to adhere to political norms, “PTI will have to review its role if it is demonstrating political behaviour or not,” he said.

“We [PPP] have not been consulted for banning PTI, but as a matter of fact, Pakistan Peoples Party has never been in favour of banning any political body, ” Murad Shah said.

To a question, the CM said that his government was constructing 2.1 million houses for flood-affected people. Of them, 1.5 million [houses] have been completed and 600,000 are under construction.

Murad Shah said that he was trying to complete the largest housing project for flood-affected people by December 2025.

ADB delegation calls on CM KP Gandapur

PESHAWAR: A delegation of Asian Development Bank (ADB) met with Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur here at CM Secretariat on Saturday.

Apart from Additional Chief Secretary Planning, Administrative Secretaries of concerned departments and other officials were also present in the meeting.

Both discussed in details issues related to the ongoing important development projects in various sectors in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank in the province.

The ADB is supporting Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in different sectors include road infrastructure, water, agriculture, energy, urban development and health.

A detailed discussion was also held on the progress on these development projects as per the timelines and the matters related to their timely completion. Development projects to be started with the support of the Asian Development Bank during the next three years were also discussed in the meeting.

They agreed to start implementation of these projects early if pre-requisites are completed soon.

The delegation expressed their willingness to release funds ahead of the timelines for the implementation of various projects under KP Sustainable Urban Mobility, KP Rural Roads Development, KP Cities Improvement Project, KP Food Security and Livestock Management Program.

The chief minister also instructed the concerned authorities to complete the required work as soon as possible in this regard.

The meeting also reviewed the proposed projects for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the five-year Country Partnership Strategy 2026-30. The two sides also agreed to expand cooperation in social sectors.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has enormous investment opportunities in the fields of agriculture, livestock, tourism, minerals, hydropower and housing, Ali Amin Gandapur said.

Providing self-employment opportunities to people by developing these sectors is an important part of the provincial government’s vision, the chief minister informed the delegation.

ATC issues non-bailable arrest warrant for KP CM Gandapur

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Islamabad has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.

Judge Tahir Abbas Supra of the Anti-Terrorism Court issued a hearing order against PTI founder and others in the cases filed in Sangjani police station and I-9 police station.

The court also issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for MNA Raja Khurram Nawaz.

Non-bailable arrest warrants were also issued for PTI leaders Haider Bin Masood, Umar Tanveer Butt and Raja Majid Hussain.

The court rejected the request for exception from the presence of the accused. The separate applications for exception were submitted by Haider Bin Masood and Ali Amin Gandapur.

The written judgment said that Haider Bin Masood’s application has stated that he is ill but no medical certificate has been attached to the application.

The written judgment stated that Ali Amin Gandapur stated in the petition that he was out of the city, but no details were provided in this regard, the written judgment said.

The written judgment states that Ali Amin Gandapur has not appeared in court since April.

CM directs to transport bodied of tourists killed in Neelum valley accident

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has directed the concerned authorities to transport the bodies of two tourists who were killed in a road accident in Neelum Valley, Azad Jammu Kashmir, to their native city of Dera Ismail Khan Khan.

Following the Chief Minister’s instructions, two ambulances from the KP government have reached Neelum Valley to facilitate the transport.

The bodies will be handed over to their heirs in D.I. Khan.

CM announces 1m for heirs of robbery resistance victims

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has announced a compensation of Rs 1 million each to the families of those who died in robbery resistance in the province since January 2024.

Murad Ali Shah while speaking in the House said that 84 people lost their lives during robbery in Sindh since January till now. Murad Ali Shah said he and the ministers should have gone to the relatives.  He admitted Sindh government fault in this regard.

The Chief Minister of Sindh announced that he will give one million each to the families of those who have died since January.

Murad Ali Shah further said that it is not the job of the caretaker government to stop the work of the elected government. The federal government has allocated Rs 76 billion while 25 to 30 billion rupees have been allotted for K-4 programme, and estimated cost of project is Rs 40 billion. The Sindh government has allocated Rs 3 billion for project.

LHC hints to summon CM Punjab in Gill’s brother’s recovery case

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court(LHC) has hinted to summon the Punjab Chief Minister in the case of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leader Shahbaz Gill’s brother’s recovery.

Justice Amjad Rafiq of Lahore High Court heard the request for the recovery of Shahbaz Gill’s brother Ghulam Shabbir, in which the relevant authorities including the petitioner’s lawyer appeared.

The court rejected the report submitted by the police regarding the recovery and summoned the Advocate General Punjab and IG Punjab yesterday.

The court said that if necessary, the Chief Minister will also be summoned.

During the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer said that Shahbaz Gill’s brother Ghulam Shabbir was detained by the police on his way to Islamabad.

Expressing annoyance over not producing the hostage, the Lahore High Court said that forced disappearances are against the fundamental rights given in the constitution.

CM Shah inspects repairing work of Sukkur barrage’s gates

SUKKUR:Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday visited the Sukkur Barrage to inspect the situation and repair works of gates no 44 and 47.

The Secretary Irrigation, Zareef Khero briefed the Chief Minister about the extent of the damage and combating the emergent situation that necessary repair works of both gates were started on an emergency basis by utilising all available resources with the irrigation department.

He said that the Irrigation Department is determined to repair both gates and restore supplies to all canals off-taking from Sukkur Barrage today.

CM Sindh said that  a five-member investigative committee has been already formed to probe into the damage to the gates of Sukkur Barrage and to determine the cause of damage.

He said that the committee has also been directed to determine the causes of the incident.

Balochistan Cabinet approves budget proposal for financial year 2024-25

QUETTA: The Balochistan Cabinet approved the budget proposal for the next financial year 2024-25 in a pre-budget Cabinet meeting at CM House.

The Balochistan cabinet has put the health and education sector on priority in the budget for the next financial year 2024-25.

A finance department official briefed the provincial cabinet that the agriculture, livestock, mineral and mines development projects have been included in the upcoming budget.

The cabinet has also approved new pension contribution scheme and proposed the implementation of the new pension scheme from the financial year 2024-25.

The cabinet was briefed that around 3000 new job opportunities would be included in the budget.

For the first time in the history of Balochistan, 70 percent of the approved development projects have been made part of the budget proposal.

The cabinet has agreed that 100 percent approved development projects would be included in the budget for the next financial year.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said that the work on the development projects of the new financial year would be started from the first month.

He added that all provincial ministers and assembly members will personally monitor the development projects in their respective departments and constituencies.

Sarfraz Bugti said that no more funds would be released to the departments showing slowness in implementing projects in order to encourage the authorities concerns to complete the approved development projects on time.

A total of Rs 138.40 billion has been earmarked for general public services, and Rs 93.12 billion has been designated for maintaining law and order.

KARACHI: The Sindh Cabinet approved Rs3.056 trillion budget proposal after thorough consideration for the next financial year 2024-25 in a pre-budget Cabinet meeting at CM House here on Friday.

The Provincial Cabinet approved the budget for the next financial year 2024-25 in the meeting chaired by the Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.

The Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that the budget had been prepared to implement 10 points of the PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

He said that the time was beginning to implement the promises made by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in the elections.

The budget contained proposals to eradicate poverty and provide facilities to the people, he said adding that the meeting considered the proposal to increase the salaries of government employees in the new financial year.

The Sindh Cabinet also considered increasing the pension of retired employees.

While participating in the budget debate, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Rubina Qaim Khani said that the PPP has always focused on addressing the issues of common people.

She said that her party is committed to strengthening democracy and the parliament.

She urged the government to provide relief to common people and farmers, as this would ensure improvements in the lives of the masses.

She expressed disappointment that the PPP was not consulted during the budget preparation process and called for increased funding for the education and health sectors.

She advocated for efforts to empower women and minorities in the country. Khani also proposed that the government include ten specific suggestions in the budget to address these concerns effectively.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Fawzia Arshad emphasized the need for increased funding for education, health, and the upliftment of common people.

Punjab Govt announces free solar system to consumers

LAHORE: The Punjab government has announced to give free solar system to the consumers who consume less electricity in the budget of the financial year 2024-25.

According to the budget document, relief is being provided to the people who are worried about expensive electricity and bills at the province level through the Chief Minister Roshan Gharana Program at a cost of 9.5 billion.

According to the budget document, in the first phase, a complete solar system is being provided free of cost to the household consumers consuming up to 100 units of electricity, for which all the installation costs are being paid by the Punjab government.

According to the budget document, the Chief Minister Solarization of Agriculture Tube Wells Program is being started at a cost of Rs 9 billion, under which 7,000 tube wells will be transferred to solar.

It should be noted that the budget for the financial year 2024-25 was presented in the Punjab Assembly today.

Punjab Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman presented the province’s ‘tax-free’ budget for the fiscal year 2024-25, totaling 5.44 trillion rupees, amidst protests by the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC).

Murad directs revenue generating depts to achieve targets

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah presiding over a meeting regarding resource mobilisation has directed the revenue collecting department to achieve their targets so that the scope of development works, and poverty alleviation could be ensured.

The chief minister emphasised that the government’s priority for the next financial year is to implement policies and initiatives to stimulate economic growth and raise all citizens’ living standards. Our focus will be on investing in key sectors such as education, healthcare, provision of safe drinking water, sanitation, infrastructure, and agriculture.

Mr Shah said the priorities would be achieved when the revenue-collecting departments would achieve their revenue targets.

Mr Shah said that the Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) had a target of Rs235 billion for 2023-24 and the track record of the SRB showed that it had been surpassing its collection targets. He directed Chairman SRB Wasif Memon to reach the target and send him proposals for next year’s targets.

Murad Shah directed the SRB to suggest relief for the taxpayers and proposals for enhancing the SST net for the next financial year. SRB Chairman assured the chief minister that his organisation would reach the target and he would submit his proposals.

The CM said that the E&T dept has a target of Rs143 billion and it has to achieve it. Minister E&T Sharjeel Memon said that he had taken strict measures to achieve the tax collection target and would hopefully, give him good news at the end of June 2024.

The meeting was told that the Board of Revenue has a target of Rs55.218 billion for 2023-24. At this, the CM directed the SMBR to take measures to reach the collection target and send him budget proposals for the next financial year.
