RAWALPINDI: Security forces foiled an armed attack on a convoy in District Kech of Balochistan  and killed eight terrorists in a follow-up operation.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), terrorists attacked a convoy of security forces in the District Kech of Balochistan, but the terrorists could not succeed in their ambitions.

The security forces foiled the cowardly attempt of the terrorists without any loss of life and pursued the fleeing terrorists.

ISPR said that the security forces conducted an operation this morning on a tip-off about a secret hideout of terrorists in Mazabandh Range. During which a two-way exchange of fire took place, in a result eight terrorists were killed.

The ISPR said that large cache of arms and ammunition including explosives has also been recovered from the possession of the terrorists.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), exchange of fire took place between terrorists and security forces in North Waziristan.  As result one terrorist was killed. The military’s press wing said that the terrorist was involved in attacks on civilians and security forces.

The ISPR further said that the people of the area appreciated the strong response of the security forces against the terrorist elements while the local population also pledged full cooperation to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the area.

Pakistan Army teams continue rescue operations in Turkey

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Army teams have continued rescue and relief activities in earthquake-hit areas of Turkey and Syria.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations(ISPR), the rescue operation of the Pakistan Army is underway in the city of Adiyaman in Turkey.

ISPR said that a search operation was conducted at 11 more places by the Pakistan Army team, during which 10 more bodies were found and handed over to the hires.

ISPR said that a total of 88 search operations including 37 rescue activities have been conducted.

ISPR said that the aid and rescue teams of the Pakistan Army have rescued eight people alive and recovered 134 dead bodies so far. The dead bodies were handed over to their relatives.

According to ISPR, 18 tonnes of relief goods including winter tents, four tonnes of medicines, shrouds, warm clothes, sleeping bags, and jackets have been sent by PIA flight for Syria.

QUETTA: Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps (FC) continue their relief and rehabilitation operations in the flood-hit areas of Balochistan, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) released a statement.

The head of the media wing of the armed forces in a handout said the Army and FC are supporting civil administration to provide relief to the flood victims.

“Thirteen relief camps have been established in the flood-affected areas of Kohlu, Bolan, Sibi, Dera Murad Jamali, Jafarabad, Nasirabad, Sohabatpur, and Jhal Magsi districts where cooked food along with other facilities are being provided to the people,” ISPR said.

A total of 55 free medical camps were organized by Pakistan Army, FC Balochistan, PDMA, and welfare organizations during the last 24 hours to control epidemics and other diseases in the flood-affected districts. The ISPR said efforts are also afoot to restore the damaged infrastructure.

Earlier, COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa called for a meeting with Military Advisor of United Nations Secretary-General Birame Diop on Sunday.

According to ISPR, the worst flood disasters in Pakistan were also discussed in the meeting and the Army Chief appreciated the role of the Military Advisor in promoting UN affairs.

After a meeting with the business community of Karachi, The Chief of Army Staff  Gen. Bajwa visited the flood-affected areas of Badin and reviewed the relief operations.

BHAN SYEDABAD: Pakistan Army started an emergency operation to save the PARCO pumping station from the flood-affected area of the city on Tuesday, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) released a statement.

According to ISPR, on the eve of September 20, Pakistan army reached the location of pumping station which was located ten kilometers south of Bhan Syedabad. According to the details, the PARCO pumping station stables the supply chain in the adjoining areas.

With four dewatering sets, the Pakistan army was able to exit 190,614 gallons of water from the pumping station. The dewatering operation will continue till today for the complete rehabilitation of the pumping station.

Earlier, the operation of the Pakistan Army Emergency Rescue and Relief Team in the flood-affected areas is still ongoing.

The Pakistan Army Rescue Team conducted an emergency rescue operation by water boat in the Navai areas of Nawara and Shahpur on September 18.

The Pakistan Army team shifted more than 500 victims trapped in flood waters to safe places. It provided tents, ration bags, and other essential items to the flood victims, the ISPR reported.

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa’s efforts brought positive results to the country as the Peoples Republic of China announced to give aid of 500 Million Yuan for the flood victims, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) released a statement.

As per the details, COAS arrived in Beijing on a two-day visit where matters of defense cooperation and other interests were discussed. “China gives great importance to its relations with Pakistan,” said the Chinese Defense Minister General Wei Fenghe during the meeting.

Chinese Defense Minister expressed hope for timely completion of the CPEC project. General Wei Fenghe also thanked Army Chief for providing a safe environment for China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects, ISPR mentioned.

Chinese Defense Minister thanked Army Chief for special measures for regional stability efforts, according to ISPR.

The government of China will provide 300 million Yuan for the flood affectees, whereas the People’s Liberation Army will give 100 million Yuan to assist the affectees. China will also provide 100 Million Yuan aid on a humanitarian basis. The total aid of 500 million Yuan makes up to 15.8 billion in Pakistani rupees ($71.3 million), ISPR mentioned.

ISLAMABAD: The Defense Day on Tuesday dawned with prayers in army units, Naval Establishments, and Air Force Bases for the progress and prosperity of the country with special Dua (prayer) offered for the martyrs, who laid down their lives in defense of the country.

The wreath-laying ceremonies were held at the monuments of the recipients of the Nishan-e-Haider, the country’s, highest gallantry award, and other martyrs, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a news release said.

Major General Kamran Nazir Malik laid a wreath and offered Fateha at the monument of Captain Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed, the first recipient of the coveted Nishan-e-Haider. The latter embraced martyrdom at Tilpatri (Azad Kashmir) in 1948.

Major General Tabbassum Haris laid wreaths and offered Fateha at the Mazar of Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed, at Tufailabad in Tehsil Arifwala. Major Tufail Muhammad embraced Shahadat (martyrdom) at Lakshmi Bridge in East Pakistan in 1958.

Major General Haroon Ishaq Raja, laid a wreath at the Grave of Major Raja Aziz Bhatti, Shaheed, in Ladian near Gujrat and offered fateha. Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed embraced Shahdat in 1965 at Burki, Lahore.

Major General Nadeem Ashraf laid wreaths and offered Fateha at the monument of Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed at Jhelum. Major Muhammad Akram embraced Shahadat at District Hilli in East Pakistan.

Major General Malik Amir Muhammad Khan laid a wreath and offered fateha at the monument of Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed at Lahore. Major Shabbir Shareef Shaheed embraced Shahadat while defending the motherland in 1971.

At Mehfoozabad, old Pind Malkan, Major General Mumtaz Hussain, laid a wreath at the monument of Lance Naik Muhammad Mehfooz Shaheed and offered Fateha. Lance Naik Muhammad Mehfooz embraced Shahadat while defending the motherland at Atari, Wagha border in 1971.

Major General Amjad Ali Khan Khattak laid a wreath at the monument of Sowar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed at Dhoke Muhammad Hussain near Gujar Khan and offered Fateha. Sowar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed embraced Shahadat while defending the motherland at Zafarwal Sector in 1971.

Chairman Senate Standing Committee for Defence and Defence Production, Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed along with honorable members laid wreaths at the monument of Lance Naik Sowar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed and offered Fateha.

Moreover, the wreath-laying ceremony at the monument of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider was held at Swabi. Major General Muhammad Umer Bashir, laid a wreath and offered Fateha. Captain Karnal Sher Khan embraced Shahadat while defending the motherland at Gultari Sector.
