Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa paid a visit to Quetta today (Tuesday) and interacted with the participants of National Workshop Balochistan.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), National Workshop aims at enhancing understanding of participants about critical national security issues, timely decision making process, national security management system.

Speaking on the occasion, COAS Bajwa said that progress and stability in Balochistan is critical to the prosperity of Pakistan. All stakeholders including the army have synergized their efforts for socio-eco uplift of the people of Balochistan, said ISPR.

Bajwa, later visited School of Infantry & Tactics (SI& T) and was briefed about new training modules & online examination systems enacted for young leadership.

He also appreciated hard work & dedication of staff of SI&T in grooming young officers & soldiers for taking on future challenges befittingly.

COAS says Pakistan Army shall ensure security of people along LOC

Today on November 4th, 2020, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Headquarters Rawalpindi Corps.

According to the details, on the prevalent situation along Line of Control (LoC), the COAS was given a comprehensive briefing as well as on the operational preparedness of the formations.

Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa also appreciated the Kashmir populations’ pliability, who are being targeted on both sides of the LoC by the Indian army.

COAS said,

“Pakistan Army shall continue to ensure the protection and security of people along LOC.”

During his visit, the COAS was also briefed about the development work in Rawalpindi Cantonment. Gen. Qamar also expressed his satisfaction over the progress and in this regard, he also appreciated the administration.

It is pertinent to mention here that earlier on 3rd November, Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa had visited Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) Headquarters.

According to Pakistan Army Public Relations (ISPR), Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Upper Dir Malakand Division.

Corps Commander Peshawar, Lieutenant General Noman Mahmood received the Chief of Army Staff on his arrival at Upper Dir Malakand Division. The Army Chief was briefed on stabilization operations and border management.

Appreciating the performance of troops on border fencing in rocky and difficult terrain, the COAS said that border security and border management systems were a true reflection of Pakistan’s commitment to peace.

The Chief of Army Staff paid rich tributes to the soldiers for their efforts to restore peace in the region.

4 soldiers embraced martyrdom in Skardu landslide incident

Skardu landslide - 4 soldiers martyred

Earlier today on 18 October at about 08:30 am, a landslide buried a minibus with 15 people into a ravine along the mountainous road in Skardu.

The Pakistan Army QRF teams along with ambulances and engineer rescue teams reached the location to help the victims.

According to the ISPR, 4 soldiers embraced shahadat, who were moving to their duty location but lost their lives in the Skardu landslide incident.

The 4 martyrs include:

Sepoy Sona Khan
Sepoy Asif
Sepoy Arshad
Sepoy Farooq

It should be mentioned here that the passenger bus was carrying 15 passengers when it was traveling from Rawalpindi to Skardu and fell into a ravine due to the landslide.

Landslides after heavy monsoon rain are common in Pakistan and are the cause of widespread damage in areas of mountainous terrain.

Rescue operations evacuated and shifted to the nearby hospital for medical treatment.

ISPR declared that on October 15, an encounter between security forces and a large number of terrorists took place on Coastal Highway (near Ormara), when OGDCL’s convoy was being escorted from Gawadar to Karachi.

The Security Forces, however, responded to the attack effectively, saved the ODGCL persons, and managed their safe exit from the area.

Security forces managed to kill a few terrorists, but 7 soldiers of FC Balochistan and 7 security guards were martyred during the clash.

The security forces have cleared off the complete area and the search for more terrorists there is underway.

ISPR said in a statement that,

“Such cowardly acts by inimical elements to sabotage peace, stability, and economic development in Balochistan shall never be allowed to succeed. Moreover, these acts can not subdue resolve of our forces which are determined to defend the motherland, even at the cost of their lives.”

Earlier in the day, an officer and five soldiers were martyred in an IED blast on a military convoy in the North Waziristan tribal district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
