ISLAMABAD: The Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) and world over will observe the Right to Self-Determination Day on Sunday (Tomorrow), renewing their pledge to continue their struggle for freedom through the plebiscite, as acknowledged by the United Nations.

According to Kashmir Media Service, it was on January 5, 1949, when the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) passed a resolution supporting the Kashmiris’ right to decide their future through the UN-sponsored plebiscite.

The day will be marked by various activities, including rallies, seminars, and conferences around the world, to remind the UN of its obligation to implement its relevant resolutions to resolve the Kashmir dispute and end the suffering of Kashmiris under Indian brutalities.

Indian Army Chief General Manoj Makand Nirvana has said that a ceasefire on the Line of Control (LoC) is the first step towards normalizing India-Pakistan relations.

“We would like the ceasefire to continue,” he said.

The Indian Army Chief said that the ceasefire has definitely improved the security situation, benefiting the citizens living in the border areas.

It may be recalled that on February 25 this year, the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of Pakistan and India agreed to address each other’s fundamental issues and concerns, which lead to disturbance of peace and violence.

The two sides agreed to adhere strictly to all agreements, treaties, and ceasefires on the LOC and all other sectors.

Both sides stressed that the existing hotline communication procedures and border flag meetings would be used to resolve any unforeseen situations and misunderstandings.

On Friday (today), the Indian Army troops resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Chirikot sector.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Indian troops have targeted the civilian population injuring a 18-year-old girl, Ansa Saiddique.

Due to indiscriminate fire of automatics and Mortars in Polas village, Ansa Siddique suffered critical injuries, said ISPR.

Pakistan Army troops, however, responded effectively and targeted those posts which initiated fire.

Earlier, Indian Army firing had injured 11 innocent civilians attending a wedding ceremony in Jigjot village.

The ISPR said that the troops attacked the wedding ceremony with rockets and heavy mortars injuring 11 people which includes 6 women and 4 children.

Deliberately targeting civil population particularly women and children reflects lack of morality, unprofessionalism and utter disregard of human rights by Indian army as well as violation of ceasefire understanding of 2003, ISPR added more.

Pakistan Army troops successfully shot down an Indian spying quadcopter today (Saturday) in Chakothi Sector along the Line of Control (LoC)

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the quadcopter intruded 500 meters on Pakistan’s side of LoC.

Similarly, on January 1, 2021, another Indian quadcopter was shot down by Pakistan Army in Nausheri Sector the Line of Control, said ISPR. 

Earlier, a soldier of the Pakistan Army Naik Shoaib embraced shahadat after fighting off terrorists in Silak Kaur area near Balochistan’s Awaran district.

According to a statement by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Security forces conducted an Intelligence Based Operation (IBO) regarding the presence of terrorists and their facilitators in Awaran district. In this regard, the forces conducted a search and clearance operation.

ISPR said that due to an “intense exchange of fire” with the terrorists during the operation, Naik Shoaib embraced martyrdom.

However, one terrorist was killed and one goes apprehended. The cache of arms, ammunition and communication equipment recovered from the hideout, said ISPR.

On Tuesday, the Indian Army troops resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Hotspring and Jandrot Sectors.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Indian troops deliberately targeted civil population with mortars and heavy weapons.

A 50-year-old woman embraced martyrdom while three other citizens including a minor Nayab received severe injuries. The injured evacuated to nearby medical facility for necessary treatment.

Earlier, a soldier of the Pakistan Army had on Sunday embraced martyrdom after fighting off terrorists near in the Jatt Bazar area near Balochistan’s Awaran district.

According to a statement by (ISPR), “On receipt of intelligence information regarding presence of terrorists and their facilitators in Jatt Bazar, near Awaran, Balochistan, security forces conducted a search and clearance operation.”

ISPR said that due to an “intense exchange of fire” with the terrorists during the operation, Lance Naik Muhammad Iqbal had received major injured.

The military’s media wing added that Lance Naik Muhammad Iqbal then immediately evacuated to Karachi. However, the soldier succumbed to wounds.
