PAF contingent reaches KSA for ‘Spears of Victory-2025’

ISLAMABAD: A contingent of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) comprising JF-17 Thunder Block-III fighter jets alongside dedicated air and ground crew has landed at King Abdul Aziz Air Base, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to participate in the multinational combat exercise “Spears of Victory-2025.”

“For this International deployment, PAF fighters flew non stop from home base in Pakistan to Saudi Arabia, carrying out in flight Air-to-Air refuelling; showcasing long range employment capabilities of JF-17 Block-III Aircraft,” an Inter Services Public Relations(ISPR)  said.

During the conduct of the exercise, PAF pilots flying AESA & Extended Range BVR Equipped JF-17 Thunder will be pitched against participating Air Forces equipped with a wide variety of sophisticated Combat Aircraft.

The exercise is witnessing participation of fighter jets and Combat support elements from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Bahrain, France, Greece, Qatar, UAE, UK and USA.

Royal Saudi Air Force is holding the fifth cycle of the exercise, which provides an excellent opportunity to bolster interoperability within the participating Air Forces in the back drop of technological advancement, increasing complexity in Airpower application & shared aerial defence challenges.

ISLAMABAD:  Pakistan Air Force (PAF) to commit to nurturing and promoting squash at all levels, ensuring that Pakistan reclaims its legacy in squash, said Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (Personnel), Air Marshal Shakil Ghazanfar.

According to an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Air Marshal Shakil Ghazanfar was speaking at the closing ceremony of Chief of Air Staff – Serena Hotels International Squash Championship 2024.

The event was organized by Pakistan Air Force in collaboration with the Pakistan Squash Federation and Serena Hotels, “This tournament has been a testament to the talent, dedication, and passion for squash, not only from our Pakistani players but also from our international participants.

“I urge our youth to follow in the footsteps of these athletes and pursue excellence,” he said.

The prestigious tournament featured 24 top-tier players from eight countries, including Egypt, England, Hong Kong, Ireland, Kuwait, Malaysia, Netherlands and Pakistan, who competed for the coveted title.

Air Marshal Shakil Ghazanfar, Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (Personnel), also distributed trophies and prizes to the winner and runner-ps. He also extended the heartiest congratulations to both international and domestic players for their remarkable performances throughout the championship.

In the final match, Pakistan’s Noor Zaman defeated compatriot Nasir Iqbal with a game score of 3-0 to claim the title. Both players displayed exceptional skills and sportsmanship, making the contest a memorable one for fans and participants alike.

Pakistan Air Force observes 7th September as Martyrs Day

KARACHI: Pakistan Air Force (PAF) observed 7th September as Martyrs’ Day at all PAF Bases throughout the country.

The day commenced with a solemn observance, including Quran Khawani, dedicated to the martyrs of the 1965 & 1971 Wars, as well as those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty since the establishment of Pakistan.

Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of Air Staff was the Chief Guest during a Martyrs’ Day Ceremony held at Air Headquarters, Islamabad.

Speaking at the occasion, the Air Chief said that PAF has a proud history of sacrifice, valour and professionalism.

He highlighted that the Martyrs’ Day is an embodiment of exceptional bravery, flawless professionalism, and an unparalleled spirit of sacrifice of the Armed Forces of Pakistan.

Hailing the glorious heroism displayed by the Martyrs of Pakistan Air Force, the Air Chief said, “We owe our heroes an eternal debt of gratitude for what they have done for us, setting a supreme example of sacrifice for generations to come.

On this solemn occasion, we extend our heartfelt tributes to those heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our motherland.”

In his concluding remarks, he reiterated his resolve to make all-out efforts for the progress and development of Pakistan in the constantly evolving global landscape and pledged that Pakistan Air Force would continue to strive hard for the advancement in space, electronic warfare, cyber, niche technologies and indigenous defence capability to ensure sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan.

Later, to pay homage to the martyrs, the Air Chief laid floral wreath at the Martyrs’ Monument and offered Fateha.

On the other hand, a wreath laying ceremony was held at the grave of Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas Shaheed here at Army graveyard on Saturday morning to pay homage to Nishan-e-Haider recipient.

Commanding Officer Southern Air Command Air Vice Marshal Air Vice Marshal Aamir Shahzad laid floral wreath on the grave and offered Fateha for the Shaheed.

A smartly turned contingent of Pakistan Air Force saluted on this occasion.

PAF, Navy supporting civic agencies to extinguish fire at Margalla Hills

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Climate Change, Romina Khurshid Alam said the helicopters of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and Pakistan Navy team were supporting the civic agencies along with Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) to extinguish glaring inferno at Margalla Hills National Park near sector E-9.

She said that there was fire at two places on Margalla Hills whereas it was of high intensity spiking up infront of E-9 Hills, a news release said.

The Chairman NDMA was contacted by the PM’s Coordinator whereas a Pakistan Air Force helicopter was dispatched to the affected area to put out the fire, she said. She added that the team of Pakistan Navy was also participating in the effort to control the fire alongside the team of Islamabad Municipal Corporation involved in the effort to smoother the fire.

The Sixth Aviation Squadron was also requested to send a helicopter, she said, adding, “The Ministry of Climate Change is in touch with all relevant agencies.

On the other hand, Capital Development Authority (CDA) has captured three individuals suspected of involvement in the arson cases in Kalinger Valley, Margalla Hills and handed them over to the police for further investigation and legal proceedings.

According to CDA spokesman, the fire broke out in Kalingar Valley, Margalla Hills this morning. The three individuals were apprehended at the site of the fire in Kalingar Valley and have been identified.

ISLAMABAD: US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome called on Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu.

During the meeting, both dignitaries expressed their mutual desire to elevate the training momentum between the two sides through enhanced collaboration in air force to air force mutual exercises.

Furthermore, they emphasized the importance of fostering a robust exchange of delegations and knowledge sharing to bolster the capabilities of both the PAF and the US Air Force.

KARACHI:  Passing out Parade of Aero Apprentices was held at Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Airmen Academy, Korangi Creek Karachi on Thursday.

Air Marshal Irfan Ahmad, Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (Air Defence), Pakistan Air Force, was Chief Guest at the occasion.

Earlier, Air Vice Marshal Syed Imran Majid Ali, Air Officer Commanding, PAF Academy Korangi Creek, received the Chief Guest.

A total of 1410 Aero Apprentices including 66 trainees from Pakistan Navy and 01 trainee from Sri Lanka have successfully completed their technical training.

While addressing the ceremony, the chief guest said, “PAF is a highly professional organization that is venerated as a combat efficient force and has always come up to the expectations of the nation during testing times through its historic valour, operational preparedness and professional excellence”. He further said that PAF is equipped with state-of-the-art weaponry and has full potential to defend the aerial boundaries of the motherland.

The chief guest emphasized that the current security scenario calls for a fully harmonized training of PAF workforce that is fully capable of protecting and maintaining its next generation defence assets.

He congratulated the graduating airmen and wished them a bright future and success in their upcoming professional assignments. Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (Air Defence) also commended the Academy Instructional Staff for their sincere endeavors and commitment to the cause of training.

Later, the worthy chief guest awarded trophies to the distinction holders. Chief of the Air Staff Trophy for Overall Best Performance was awarded to Aircraftman Talha Usman whereas Asghar Khan Trophy for the Overall Best Performance in Aeronautics was clinched by Aircraftman Muhammad Arslan.

Nur Khan Trophy for the Best in Avionics Technology was conferred upon Aircraftman Talha Usman whereas Air Officer Commanding Trophy for the Best Performance in General Service Training was awarded to Academy Sergeant Aircraftman Anees Ur Rehman.
