PAF Announces Development of Next-Generation Fighter Jet

At the IDEAS 2024 defence exhibition in Karachi, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) announced its plans to develop the Pakistan Fighter X (PFX), a state-of-the-art fighter jet equipped with advanced weaponry and cutting-edge technology.

Building on the success of the JF-17 Thunder Block 3, the PFX aims to enhance Pakistan’s defence capabilities and establish the country as a leader in high-tech military advancements.

Air Commodore Azhar, speaking at the event, described the PFX as a 4.5-plus generation fighter jet. He emphasized that the aircraft’s development will be entirely in-house, showcasing Pakistan’s ability to independently produce sophisticated defence technology without relying on external expertise or resources.

The control systems and other critical components of the PFX will also be domestically designed and manufactured, underlining the PAF’s commitment to self-reliance in defence innovation.

This initiative represents a significant milestone in Pakistan’s efforts to modernize its air force and secure a prominent position in the global defence industry.
