Prime Minister Imran Khan has recieved a telephone call from former Malaysian Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad on Sunday. 

According to the details, the two leaders greeted each other on the auspicious occasion of Eid-al-Fitr.

During the telephone call, Prime Minister and Dr. Mahathir exchanged views on the grave situation in Palestine. They condemned the Israeli aggression and expressed solidarity with the innocent, defenseless Palestinians.

The Prime Minister strongly condemned the attacks on innocent worshippers in Al-Aqsa Mosque and airstrikes on Gaza.

Moreover, the two leaders underscored the need for the international community to take urgent steps to halt the ongoing attacks, protect the civilians, and facilitate a just and lasting solution based on United Nations resolutions and two-state vision.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan had expressed solidarity with the Palestinians against the Israeli atrocities.

The Prime Minister also shared a picture depicting a quote by Noam Chomsky,

This quote provides the proper context for the timelines on the latest episode in the savage punishment of Gaza.

The Pakistani prime minister on May 9 during his Saudi Arabia visit urged the international community to take immediate actions to protect Palestinians in the wake of Israeli attacks on the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.

“Strongly condemn Israeli Forces’ attack, especially during Ramadan on Palestinians in Qibla-e- Awaal, Al-Aqsa Mosque, violating all norms of humanity and International law(s). We reiterate support for Palestinian people,” Imran Khan tweeted.

“[The] international community must take immediate action to protect Palestinians and their legitimate rights,” Khan who was on a three-day visit to Saudi Arabia, said.

On Thursday, prime minister Imran Khan extended greetings to the Muslim Ummah on account of Eid Al-Fitr and thanked Allah Almighty for blessing with the holy month of Ramadan.

Pakistan on Thursday celebrates Eid Al Fitr with religious zeal and fervor, but under strict lockdown due to the rising number of coronavirus infections.

According to the details, thousands of large and small-scale gatherings were being held for Eid prayers across the country.

On the occasion, the special prayers were offered for the well-being of the country while in sermons the Ulema highlighted the significance of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Moreover, special prayers were also offered for Muslims in Palestine and Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK) where people are subjected to oppression and atrocities.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, special care was taken to make sure Eid congregations were held in open places in all major cities and towns while following strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure social distancing.

Security has been beefed up in different parts of the country, including in the federal capital, to avoid any untoward incident on an auspicious occasion.

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), China, Turkey, and Qatar, along with the rest of the Muslim world, will be celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr today.

As the nation is observing Eid-ul-Fitr, Prime Minister Imran Khan urged the countrymen to strictly observe anti-COVID precautions and show compassion towards the poor while celebrating the festival.

The prime minister, in his message on Eid-ul-Fitr, greeted the nation on the annual festival and thanked Allah Almighty for blessing with the holy month of Ramadan.

Imran Khan said the objective of making the believers pass through the exercise of patience and thankfulness was to realize others’ sufferings and hunger.

On Wednesday, a meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee committee took place under the chair of Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad in Islamabad which was also attended by officials from the meteorological department, Pakistan Space, and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), and the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Meteorological experts and former Science Minister Fawad Chaudhry had earlier said that the moon would not be sighted on May 12; however, Eid Al-Fitr on Thursday (today) was declared by the officials late last night.

Eid-ul-Fitr or Eid-al-Fitr marks the first day of Shawwal month. Every year, Eid-ul-Fitr occurs approximately 10-11 days earlier depending on the occurrence of the crescent moon because lunar months are shorter than the solar months, hence it varies from country to country by about a day.

Bohra community celebrates Eid-ul-Fitr with religious zeal and fervor

The people belonging to the Dawoodi Bohra community in Pakistan and around the world are celebrating Eid al-Fitr amid the restrictions due to the novel coronavirus.

Eid prayers were offered in various cities including Karachi, attended by a large number of people belonging to the Bohra community.

The largest Eid prayer gathering of the Bohra community in Karachi was held at the Taheri Mosque in the Saddar area.

Special prayers were also offered for the country’s prosperity, sovereignty, and law, order by the community. However, people traditionally embraced each other during the celebration of the Bohra community.

Special security arrangements were made and a large contingent of Rangers and Police officials were stationed at all the Bohra mosques.

The Spiritual Head of the Bohra community has also instructed the members to follow all government norms during the ongoing Covid lockdown.

Back in September 2017, around 20, 000 people attended a religious discourse by the spiritual leader of the Dawoodi Bohra community, His Holiness Dr. Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, at the Taheri Mosque.

Among the attendees were Governor Mohammad Zubair, former chief minister Murad Ali Shah, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, Muttahida Qaumi Movement – Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Farooq Sattar and Mayor Wasim Akhtar.

Eid-al-Fitr likely to be celebrated in Pakistan on May 14th: MET Dept

On Tuesday, the Meteorological Department said that Eid-al-Fitr will like to be celebrated on Friday (May 14) in Pakistan as there are “no chances” of the moon being sighted on Wednesday.

If the moon is not sighted on Wednesday, then there would be 30 days of the holy month of Ramadan, and Eid in Pakistan would be celebrated on Friday.

“The new moon of Shawwal,1442 AH will be born on crossing conjunction point at 00-01PST on 12-05-2021”

“According to astronomical parameters, there is No Chance of sighting the new moon of Shawwal,1442 AH on the evening of 12-05-2021 i.e. on 29th of Ramzan, 1442 AH.”

It is pertinent to mention here that the Central Ruet e Hilal Committee will meet on Wednesday, 29th of Ramadan for Shawwal moon sighting, said the incumbent body on Saturday. Maulana Abdul Khabir will chair the meeting as it takes place in Islamabad, the statement said.

The zonal committee will also meet in their respective areas while the central committee will take moon sighting witnesses from around the country. On the other hand, the meteorological department stated that the Shawwal moon will be sighted on May 12 after 12:00 am.
