Anurag Kashyap says he was fired as director from Tere Naam

Anurag Kashyap talked about being sacked from Salman Khan’s 2003 movie Tere Naam in his most recent film, Almost Pyaar, which he co-wrote and directed with DJ Mohabbat. In a recent interview, Anurag remembered the circumstances behind his dismissal from Tere Naam after writing the script; Satish Kaushik eventually took over as the film’s director. Salman’s Tere Naam character, Radhe, comes from Uttar Pradesh, “where guys don’t wax their chest,” therefore Anurag requested that Salman refrain from shaving his chest for the role.

Anurag Kashyap stated he enjoyed Salman’s flicks, including Sultan, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, and Dabangg, despite the fact that Salman and the producers rejected his request that the actor not wax his chest during the filming. Malaika gave her boyfriend’s movie Kuttey high accolades last month. Malaika posted a photo on her Instagram Stories with the remark, “What a fantastic movie with amazing performers. Watch it at a nearby movie theatre.” On his Instagram post, Arjun captioned the image, “My biggest cheerleader.”

Arjun and Malaika had been seeing one other for a while. However, neither of them opted to go public with their relationship until a few years ago. On social media, Malaika and Arjun never fail to express their love and admiration for one another. She discussed Arjun last year on her programme Moving In With Malaika.

“Humne iss baare mein baat ki hai,” Malaika said to Farah Khan. An eight-year-old Australian kid died of suspected electrocution while on vacation in Fiji.

The kid, identified by his family as Cairo Winitana from Sydney, was staying with his parents at the Club Wyndham Denarau Island Resort on Fiji’s main island’s west coast.

He was discovered “motionless” near a flower garden at the hotel last Thursday, according to Fiji police.

He was transferred to a hospital in the adjacent city of Nadi, but he could not be revived.

“Initial information gathered is that the child was allegedly electrocuted however the post-mortem will have to confirm that,” Fiji police said.

They also stated that the youngster was a New Zealand citizen but a resident of Australia. According to a representative for New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the family is receiving assistance.

In a Facebook post, his mother Amber de Thierry said: “I loved you my son from the moment I found out I was carrying you and will love you forever more”.

The heartbreaking job

The family now faced “the heartbreaking job” of bringing their son back to Australia, an online fundraiser set up by a relative said.

“As you could all imagine this is a very devastating loss for our family”.

The Milperra Colts, where Cairo played, described him as “a quiet, tough little kid who loved his footy” in a Facebook tribute.

The resort’s spokeswoman called the death a “tragic accident” and conveyed “heartfelt sympathies” to the family.

According to the spokeswoman, the resort will undertake a thorough investigation and will fully cooperate with police and local authorities.

Historical launch of Pakistani herbal seeds into outer space praised

KARACHI: The Advisory Panel on Traditional Medicine Member and WHO Chief Scientist Prof. Dr. Liu Xinmin on Tuesday emphasized the importance of the “Chinese-Pakistan Cooperation on Medicinal Plants”, and said that the launch of Pakistani herbal seeds into outer space in June 2022 was a historical event.

The hybrid seeds, prepared at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, for short trips to space will help scientists to develop new varieties, he said, adding that these varieties can help feed the world’s growing population, in the changing climate, and also treat incurable diseases.

He was talking to a group of scientists at the ICCBS, University of Karachi, before his departure to China. Prof Dr M Iqbal Choudhary, Director of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences, and COMSTECH Coordinator General, thanked the famous Chinese scientists for his visit to ICCBS, University of Karachi.

It is pertinent to mention here that China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) had launched Pakistani herbal seeds into outer space in June 2022 and, after six months flying, returned them safely to the earth in December.

Prof Liu Xinmin pointed out that China and Pakistan have a long history of traditional medicines. Traditional Chinese Medicines (TMC) is practiced in China, while Pakistani owned a long history of Traditional Unani Medicine (TUM) to practice against the common ailments.

Adani: India’s watchdog is investigating into claims of Hindenburg fraud

The Indian Securities and Exchange Commission has stated that it is looking into charges made by Hindenburg Research against companies owned by multibillionaire Gautam Adani.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is also looking into market activity in response to the report.

Mr. Adani’s business empire saw its stock market value plummet by more than $100 billion (£82.3 billion) as a result of charges of market manipulation and financial crime.

The claims have been refuted by Adani Group.

On Monday, SEBI said in a Supreme Court filing that it was studying the allegations and “the market activity immediately preceding and post the publication of the report”.

“SEBI is strongly and adequately empowered to put in place regulatory frameworks for effecting stable operations and development of the securities markets,” it added in a filing to the Supreme Court.

Adani Group also attempted to reassure investors on Monday, stating that it has excellent cashflows and that its business plans were fully funded.

“We are confident in the continued ability of our portfolio to deliver superior returns to shareholders.”

Set to report

Adani Enterprises, the conglomerate’s flagship company, is set to report quarterly earnings later on Tuesday.

Mr. Adani’s company includes seven publicly traded companies that engage in a variety of industries, including commodities trading, airports, utilities, ports, and renewable energy.

A report published last month by the US-based short-seller Hindenburg Research said that Adani Group companies had engaged in “brazen” stock manipulation and accounting fraud for decades.

It also claimed its companies had “substantial debt” which put the entire group on a “precarious financial footing”.

Short-selling is a bet that an asset’s value will fall.

Without presenting evidence, Adani Group has stated that the Hindenburg report was meant to allow the US-based short seller to earn gains.

Philippines accuses China of using ‘military-grade’ laser against its vessels in South China Sea

The Philippines has accused China of using a “military grade” laser light to thwart a resupply mission to a disputed South China Sea reef.

The glare from the laser temporarily blinded the crew of the Filipino coast guard boat, causing it to retreat.

The ship was on its way to a stranded navy ship that Manila has employed for years to claim the Second Thomas Shoal.

China has used water cannons and sirens in the past to maintain its claim to much of the South China Sea.

The incident, on 6 February, was only reported publicly on Monday. It was a “clear violation of Philippine sovereign rights” in waters that Manila refers to as the West Philippine Sea, the Filipino coastguard said in a statement.

Authorities stated the Chinese ship conducted “dangerous maneuvers

” roughly 150 yards (137m) from the starboard side of the Filipino ship, in addition to flashing laser light twice.

The BBC was unable to reach a representative for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Beijing did not respond immediately.

The Permanent Court of Arbitration of the United Nations concluded in 2016 that Beijing’s broad claims in the South China Sea have no historical validity.

Tensions over the shoal, known as Ayungin in the Philippines, were one of the catalysts for the case, that the Philippines brought.

However, the tribunal lacks the authority to impose its decision, and China has continued to construct massive structures over reefs in the waters, which are also disputed in part by Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, and Taiwan.

Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte similarly refused to acknowledge the arbitration verdict, instead attempting to rebuild diplomatic and economic ties between Manila and Beijing as he shifted the country away from its long-standing ally, the United States.

Mr. Marcos, on the other hand, flipped the script. His government agreed earlier this month to provide the US access to four new military bases.

Leena Ghani, an activist and makeup artist, tweeted the Alhamra notice on her social media pages and disclosed that the group had previously rejected Aurat March’s request to hold an event on their property because the march “was too contentious and had a terrible image.”

Iffat Omar, an actress and model, also expressed her displeasure on Twitter, saying that she had been eager to deliver a talk at the event but had decided to withdraw out after learning about the panel’s accused harasser.

Women have also complained that this year’s panels did not feature any female authors. The PLF organisers came under fire from editor and novelist Mehr Husayn on Twitter after she pointed out that no recent authors were on the roster.

Two Dutch F-35 fighters intercepted a formation of three Russian military planes near Poland and escorted them out, the Dutch defense minister said late Monday.

“From Kaliningrad, the then unknown aircraft approached the Polish NATO area of responsibility,”

Kaliningrad is a Russian Baltic coast enclave sandwiched between NATO and EU members Poland and Lithuania.

“After identification, it turned out to be three aircraft: a Russian IL-20M Coot-A that was escorted by two Su-27 Flankers. The Dutch F-35s escorted the formation from a distance and handed over the escort to NATO partners.”

The Russian Ilyushin Il-20M reconnaissance aircraft is known as the Il-20M Coot-A, whereas the Sukhoi Su-28 fighter aircraft is known as the Su-27 Flankers.

Russia’s defense ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

According to the Dutch defense ministry, eight Dutch F-35s will be stationed in Poland in February and March.

Kartik & Kriti send Valentine’s Day greetings from the Taj Mahal

Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon were spotted promoting their movie Shehzada on Valentine’s Day at the Taj Mahal in Agra, ahead of its release on February 17. The actor posted a video of himself and Kriti romancing to the tune of Shehzada’s song Mere Sawaal Ka on Instagram. Official remake of the 2020 Telugu film Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, starring Allu Arjun, is being made in Hindi by director Rohit Dhawan.

Kartik posted a reel of himself approaching Kriti Sanon, spinning her around, and then hoisting her into the air on Instagram. Over the video, the song Mere Sawaal Ka, written by Pritam, plays. The actor penned: “#HappyValentinesDay (red heart emoji) Bantu aur Samara ki taraf se, or saath mein ek Shehzada give… Book your ticket on the PVR App right now to receive a free ticket for a special someone (red heart emoji)! #Shehzada #17thFeb (crown emoji) this Friday.” They take on the roles of Samara and Bantu in the next movie.

According to rumours, DJ Wale Babu’s Natasa Stankovic and cricketer Hardik Pandya will renew their marriages on Valentine’s Day. The couple and their son Agastya Pandya were seen on Monday at the Mumbai airport. Krunal Pandya, the brother of Hardik, his wife Pankhuri Sharma, and their son Kavir were also present.

Natasa and Hardik will reportedly reaffirm their vows in a white wedding, according to ANI. There are also plans for customary rites like sangeet, mehendi, and haldi. Prior to being married during the Covid-19 lockdown, the couple became engaged on a cruise on January 1, 2020. In July 2020, they welcomed their son Agastya.

Anushka, meanwhile, has finished filming Chakda Xpress, her upcoming sports movie. Jhulan Goswami, a former cricketer, is the subject of the movie. Chakda Xpress, which was directed by Prosit Roy, will debut on Netflix. The movie’s precise release date is still pending. Karnesh Sharma, Anushka’s brother, produced the movie through his in-house production firm Clean Slate Filmz.
