The Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) on Monday announced the result of Secondary School Certificate SSC Part II (matric) science group for the year 2020.

The result was announced by controller examination on September 21, 2020.

According to the statement, all students who had submitted their examination forms before exams were cancelled due to coronavirus, have been promoted under the government’s promotion policy.

As per the statement, a total of 1,69,325 candidates had registered themselves for 2020 exams.

Out of 1,69,325 students, only 445 candidates, who had not appeared in all the papers of their SSC Part I examination 2019 could not benefit from the promotion policy. However, the pass percentage stood at 99.8.

Taj Mahal reopens after 6 months despite surge in COVID-19 cases

As India is witnessing record spike in Coronavirus cases, even though The Taj Mahal reopens to visitors divided into two slots on Monday.

The world-famous Taj Mahal in the city of Agra south of New Delhi is India’s most popular tourist site. It usually draws seven million visitors a year.

According to officials, when it reopens, strict social distancing rules will be imposed and daily visitor numbers will be capped at 5,000. Tickets can only be bought online.

India has recorded more than 5.4 million COVID-19 cases. Around 100,000 new infections and over 1,000 deaths are reported daily.

But after a strict lockdown in March, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is reluctant to copy some other nations and tighten the screw on activity again.

Instead in recent months his government has eased more and more restrictions including on many train routes, domestic flights, markets, restaurants — and now, visiting the Taj Mahal.

“Circles are being marked, the mask would be a must and nobody would be able to enter without thermal screening”, a senior archaeologist in charge of Agra’s monuments, told.

Schools were meant to resume Monday on a voluntary basis for students aged 14 to 17, but many Indian states such as Maharashtra and Gujarat have said it is still too soon.

“Cases are still increasing rapidly… I have no idea how we can reopen educational institutions now,” West Bengal’s education minister Partha Chatterjee said.

Elsewhere schools are refusing to open or parents are wary of sending their children in.

WhatsApp testing fingerprint authentication for WhatsApp Web

With numerous helpful features, WhatsApp is once again working on a new privacy feature that will enable users to open WhatsApp Web only with a biometric authentication. The feature is currently under development and limited to beta testers.

Wabetainfo, spotted this new functionality on WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.20.200.10. The update also brings some bug fixes for Recently Used Emojis alongside the new fingerprint feature.

This fingerprint authentication system will ensure that your WhatsApp chats are safe on the desktop and create a layer of complete security for the users.

To use WhatsApp on desktop or PC, users need to currently scan the QR code displayed on WhatsApp web, but soon they will be required to use the fingerprint scanner to successfully use WhatsApp on desktop.

WhatsApp fingerprint lock system works in the same way as the fingerprint lock of any smartphone does. It enables users to protect their conversations from intruding eyes of strangers. The feature was recently added in the Settings option and available for both Android and iOS users.

To enable fingerprint lock on WhatsApp: tap Settings, go to Account, then Privacy and Fingerprint Lock. You can then turn on Unlock with fingerprint, and confirm your fingerprint.

Moreover, WhatsApp also introduced a new animated sticker pack called Usagyuuun in the default sticker list recently. This pack has a white cartoon character that depicts feelings of joy, anxiety, sadness, love, etc.

Five-day nationwide polio eradication campaign kicks off from today

A five-day nationwide polio eradication campaign begins on Monday during which 40 million children below five years age will be administered anti-polio vaccine across the country.

This is the first nationwide campaign in the country after its four-month suspension due novel Coronavirus outbreak.

The scope of this campaign seeks to vaccinate all children under the age of five through door-to-door visits by almost 270,000 polio workers all over the country.

The polio workers have received comprehensive training on how to vaccinate children safely by minimizing the threat of COVID-19 pandemic.

The polio eradication programme has put strict measures in place for all staff following the government’s set guidelines on Coronavirus precautionary measures.

Earlier, another polio case had been reported in Balochistan, taking the provincial tally of cases to 19.

Moreover, the second province-wide polio campaign drive is all set to begin in Sindh from today.

The campaign was inaugurated by the Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazl Pechuho.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, she said the campaign would be conducted from September 21 to September 27 by the Emergency Operation Centre (EOC).

The polio drive will be carried out in all the 29 districts of the province.

The drive will cover around 9.15 million children under the age of five years, who will be administered the oral polio vaccine, the minister said.

She also added that 2.2 million children would be vaccinated in Karachi alone.

4 died as plane makes emergency landing in Texas

At least four people succumbed to injuries after a single-engine airplane crashed while trying to make emergency landing in Texas.

According to the details, the plane made emergency landing near Hilltop Lakes Stables and crashed in an open field.

The pilot told authorities before the crash that the plane, Piper PA-46 Malibu was having engine problems, reports said.

All four passengers on the plane died on the spot as a result of the crash.

The plane was heading to Natchitoches, Louisiana Regional Airport when it started to have engine issues.

A witness told local media that the plane was flying extremely low to the ground and once the pilot started pulling up the motor stopped turning.
