Pakistan demands reversal of India unilateral action in IIOJK

IIOJK

BANJUL (GAMBIA): The Contact Group of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Jammu and Kashmir met here Monday wherein Pakistan stressed that India should revoke all of its unilateral actions of August 5, 2019 in IIOJK and implement the relevant UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir dispute.

Held on the sidelines of the 15th Islamic Summit of the OIC here, the meeting reviewed the political and security environment in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) besides taking stock of the grim human rights situation in the occupied territory.

Chaired by the Assistant Secretary General (Political Affairs) of the OIC and the Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Jammu and Kashmir, Yousaf-Al-Dobeay, the meeting was attended by the member states of the Contact Group i.e. Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Niger and Azerbaijan.

A delegation of the True Representatives of the Kashmiri People, and the senior officials of the OIC-Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission were also in attendance.

In his remarks, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, who led the Pakistani delegation, urged the international community to take cognizance of the Indian leaders’ provocative statements and unwarranted claims about Azad Jammu and Kashmir, which constituted a serious threat to regional peace.

He stressed that India must release all the political prisoners, lift curbs on the outlawed political parties, revoke the illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019 and the subsequent steps aimed at demographic change and political engineering.

He briefed the Contact Group on India’s ongoing efforts to transform Kashmiris into a disempowered community in their own land.

He apprised the meeting that India was systematically denying the Kashmiri people their fundamental rights and freedoms.

He added that the Indian authorities had created an environment of fear and intimidation in the IIOJK to crush dissent.

The participating delegations from different member states emphasized the importance of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute on the OIC’s agenda, and expressed support for the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people for realization of their inalienable right to self-determination in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

India should have reformed UN Security Council: Liz Truss

Liz Truss
  • Chinese and Russian rivals are particularly adept at marketing their economic systems.
  • As the largest democracy in the world, India’s opinion will be “extremely crucial.”
  • Truss declared that she strongly favours expanding trade with allies like India. “

Former UK PM Liz Truss emphasised the need for a review of the UN Security Council on Friday and backed giving India a bigger role in the international organisation.

Speaking at the Ideas of India Summit hosted by ABP Network, Truss agreed that Ukraine’s NATO membership needed to be expedited. “When it comes to freedom and democracy, we must take the initiative. Chinese and Russian rivals are particularly adept at marketing their economic systems. They communicate with the world in a variety of ways using technology and false information, the speaker claimed.

The Ukraine flag was painted on a road in London with 300 litres of paint and 365 days of conflict.

In an effort to sway people’s opinions, they can also apply economic pressure, according to Truss. As the largest democracy in the world, India’s opinion will be “extremely crucial,” she claimed.

Truss declared that she strongly favours expanding trade with allies like India. “I started the free trade talks with India while I was trade secretary,” she claimed.

She continued, “I also want to see us collaborate with nations that share our values to build what I refer to as an economic NATO.”

UN Security Council will consider the visit to Al-Aqsa Mosque

Al-Aqsa Mosque
  • UN Security Council to consider Israeli minister’s contentious visit to Al-Aqsa mosque.
  • Itamar Ben-Gvir is Israel’s new national security minister.
  • The 15-member Council will meet at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

The UN Security Council will consider an Israeli minister’s contentious visit to Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa mosque. The 15-member Council will meet at 3 p.m. at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

“The international community decides the fate of safeguarding Jerusalem’s Islamic and Christian landmarks,” the Palestinian UN ambassador stated.

“We won’t be pleased by tomorrow’s Security Council pronouncements. We expect concrete results “Adding,

Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel’s new national security minister, will visit Egypt on Tuesday.

Al-Aqsa mosque in Israeli-annexed east Jerusalem is Islam’s third-holiest place. It’s called Temple Mount by Jews.

Non-Muslims can visit the place, but they can’t pray there.

In recent years, more Jews, mostly Israeli nationalists, have discreetly prayed at the area, which Palestinians decry. Such efforts threaten Jerusalem’s holy sites, say Western governments.

The US, a longtime supporter of Israel, condemned Ben-visit. Gvir’s Jordan’s UN ambassador Mahmoud Daifallah Hmoud called it an act of extremism meant to incite bloodshed.

“The Security Council must take its role seriously and stop this,” he said.

UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said Wednesday that Antonio Guterres “urge on all to desist from escalating tensions in and around Jerusalem.”

The UN Security Council has issued multiple resolutions on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and favors a two-state solution.
