PTI founder interim bail in six, Bushra’s in one case extended

ISLAMABAD: The District and Sessions Court has extended the interim bail of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) founder in six cases and his wife Bushra Bibi in a case.

Judge Afzal Majoka of the District and Session Court of Islamabad heard the pre-arrest bail application of  PTI founders in six cases and Bashira Bibi in a case in which Imran Khan’s lawyer Zahid Bashir appeared in the court.

During the hearing, Imran Khan’s lawyer Zahid Bashir pleaded for adjournment of the hearing and said that the senior counsel is busy with other cases in Lahore and Salman Safdar cannot appear in court today.

Later, the court adjourned the hearing by extending the interim bail till October 21 PTI founders in six cases and Bushra Bibi in a case.

Court rejects PTI founder, Bushra’s bail plea in Toshakhana case

ISLAMABAD: The Accountability Court rejected the bail petition  of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) founder chairman Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana case-II.

Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand heard the plea related to the second case of Toshakhana in Adiala Jail.

During the hearing, the Federal Investigation Agency  ​​prosecutor said that the accused did not deposit the valuable seat worth Rs 71.5 million received from the Saudi government in the Toshakhana.

The  accused charged the value of the Bulgari jewelry seat only Rs 5.8 million from a private firm.

Barrister Salman Safdar, lawyer of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, said in his arguments Tosha Khana case-II is similar to the first reference, the same allegations and the same sworn witnesses in the first and this reference.

He said how two cases of one Toshakhana can be made. He said Bushra Bibi has been imprisoned for 7 months, this case should end after the Supreme Court’s NAB amendment decision.

Lawyer Salman Safdar said that the case was transferred from the NAB court to the Special Judge Central but the founder PTI and Bushra Bibi did not get bail, they request the court to grant bail.

FIA files supplementary challan in new Toshakhana case

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) filed a supplementary challan to the trial court in the Toshakhana II reference against the PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi.

Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjamand heard the case against the two accused.

The FIA, in its challan, stated that there were solid proofs against the accused for misconduct. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and his wife had taken financial benefits from illegal sources and corrupt practices.

It stated that the PTI founder received a Bulgarian jewelry set while misusing his position.

The FIA also attached the list of 24 prosecution witness along with the challan document. The witnesses included Section Officer Cabinet Division Banyaman, Prime Minister (PM)’s House Protocol Officer Talat Mehmood, Additional Director NAB Headquarter Qaiser Mehmood, Assistant Director Foreign Affairs Muhammad Faheem, PM’s former Military Secretary Muhammad Ahmed, former PM’s Personal Secretary Inaamullah Shah, Director NAB Shafqat Mehmood, case investigation officers Mohammad Mohsin Haroon, Assistant Director FIA Investigation Wajid Hussain and Assistant Director Shahid Pervaiz.

It was alleged in the case that the two accused had received the Bulgarian jewelry set as a gift during an official visit to Saudi Arabia from May 7, to 10, 2021. The set included a ring, bracelet, necklace and earings.

As per the allegations, Bushra Bibi kept the jewelry set with herself illegally. The Deputy Military Secretary on May 18, asked the Section Officer Toshakhana to get assessment of the value of the set, however, the set was never deposited in the Toshakhana.

The total value of the jewelry set in Pakistani currency is Rs 75.66 million. As per the Toshakhana rules 50 percent of the amount Rs 37.56 million was supposed to be paid to get the set.

It was claimed that the accused got the lower value assessment report by using their position and caused a loss of Rs 32.8 million to the exchequer.

RAWALPINDI:  Founder Chairman Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI) Imran Khan termed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s remarks about journalists community as inappropriate.

In an informal conversation with journalists in Adiala Jail, Imran Khan said that Ali Amin Gandapur should not have made such remarks about journalists.

Imran Khan said that Ali Amin Gandapur has spoken too much in his emotional speech, he does not support Ali Amin Gandapur’s talk about journalists.

Chairman PTI said that journalists are working under the pressure and they are doing Jihad.

It should be remembered that in public gathering held in Islamabad on September 8, Chief Minister KP Ali Amin Gandapur had used abusive language about journalists, which was strongly protested by the journalist community.

Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar and Asad Qaiser also apologized for the behavior of Ali Amin Gandapur, but journalists demanded an apology from Ali Amin Gandapur.

NAB withdraws new Toshakhana case against PTI founder

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has withdrawn the new Toshakhana case filed against Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI) founder Imran Khan from the accountability court.

A hearing was held on the application for bail in the new Toshakhana reference against founder PTI.  Lawyer Salman Safdar said that a new Toshakhana case will not be created after NAB amendments and restoration.

He said that there is no crime under the current law.

The NAB prosecutor argued that after the restoration of the NAB amendments, the new Toshakhana reference has gone out of the jurisdiction of the NAB.

NAB withdrew the new Toshakhana case from the accountability court.

Accountability Court judge Muhammad M. Ali Warraich took a 3-hour break in the hearing and later passed the decision to transfer new Toshakhana to Reference Special Judge Central.

The Accountability Court ordered that bail applications in the new Toshakhana case will be heard by the concerned court. The new Toshakhana case will be heard by the relevant court on September 10.

It should be noted that in recent days, Imran Khan sought exemption from the Accountability Court in the  £190 million reference by resorting to the Supreme Court’s decision on NAB amendments and filed his acquittal petition.

NAB amendments were declared unconstitutional by the founder PTI and approached the Supreme Court and after losing the case from the Supreme Court, now based on this decision, he sought acquittal from the accountability court.

ISLAMABAD; Opposition leader National Assembly Omar Ayub’s resignation as Secretary General of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI)  which was accepted by PTI founder Imran Khan.

Opposition leader of PTI Omar Ayub says that “I am grateful to the founder of PTI, he accepted my resignation, I had resigned on June 22 but it was not accepted”.

Omar Ayub said that as an opposition leader, taking cases, watching rallies was a workload. “I asked the opposition leader senate to convey my resignation in a meeting with the founder chairman”.

He further said that “I will continue to work with PTI as a worker and the founding chairman”.

On the other hand, the founding PTI lacks confidence in the central leadership of the party. Salman Akram Raja is likely to be made Secretary General in place of Omar Ayub.

According to party sources, the name was changed due to lack of consensus in the party under the leadership of Omar Ayub Khan. Shibli Faraz and Arif Alvi named Salman Akram Raja instead of Omar Ayub.

Omar Ayub will continue to play his role in the assembly as the opposition leader.

On the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has made significant changes to the party structure.

The former prime minister has separated parliamentary affairs from party’s political matters.

RAWALPINDI: Founder Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) Imran Khan sought relief in £190 million case after the decision of the Supreme Court on the case related to NAB amendments.

The hearing of the £190 million reference against Imran Khan was held in Adiala Jail. During the hearing, the PTI founder filed an acquittal petition in the £190 million reference after the NAB amendment decision.

The lawyer PTI founder said that after the NAB amendment decision ,  the case of £190 million is not valid now and all the decisions of the cabinet are protected in the NAB amendments.

Imran Khan’s lawyer said that the question is that after the NAB amendments, the accountability court has jurisdiction in this case or not.

The NAB prosecutor said that “If the court has jurisdiction in this case, then the plea of ​​acquittal can be heard, to which PTI’s lawyer said that we have not challenged the jurisdiction of the court, It is the discretion of the court to decide the authority”.

The accountability court adjourned the hearing on PTI founder’s petition for acquittal till September 10.

Earlier, Supreme Court rejected Imran Khan’s request to declare the NAB amendments null and void and approved the intra-court appeals of the federal and provincial governments and reinstated the NAB amendments.

In the detailed judgment of the Supreme Court, it was said that the founder PTI could not satisfy the court regarding the annulment of the NAB amendments.

RAWALPINDI: The accountability court has extended the judicial remand of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the new Toshahkhana reference till September 16.

Accountability Court judge Nasir Javed Rana held a hearing on the new Toshakhana reference against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, in which their lawyers and NAB prosecutor appeared in the court.

During the hearing, Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi’s lawyer Salman Safdar argued that the new reference of Toshakhana is the same as the first reference, two references cannot be made on the same charge.

On this, the NAB prosecutor said that the documents can prove whether the new reference is similar to the previous one or not.

Meanwhile, the NAB prosecutor requested to get the judicial record of Toshakhan’s old reference, which was rejected by the court.

Later, the accountability court in a new reference extended the judicial remand of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi till September 16 and postponed further hearing of the case till September 6.

NAB files new Toshakhana reference against PTI founder, Bushra Bibi

ISLAMABAD:  The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has filed a new Toshakhana reference against the founder Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan and  his wife Bushra Bibi.

On behalf of NAB, reference investigation officer Mohsin Haroon and case Afsar Waqar ul Hassan filed the reference in the accountability court, which consists of two volumes.

According to the sources, the new Toshakhana reference filed by NAB will be reviewed by the Registrar Accountability Court, after removing the objections, the reference will be sent to the Administrative Judge of the Accountability Court, after which the Administrative Judge will decide whether to transfer the reference to himself or to another accountability court.

Administrative Judge Nasir Javed Rana is already hearing the £190 million reference.

NAB interrogated Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in Adiala Jail and both were arrested on July 13 while both remained in NAB custody for 37 days for investigation.

IHC seeks details of provided facilities to PTI founder

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) sought report from administration of Central Jail Adiala Rawalpindi regarding the provided facilities to PTI founder Imran Khan in prison.

Chief Justice Aamer Farooq heard the case seeking provision of facilities to PTI founder Imran Khan in jail as per the rules.

During the course of proceeding, the chief justice questioned that what facilities are being given to the PTI founder. He said that let the court first ask the Adiala Jail officials about the facilities being provided to PTI founder.

The court directed the jail authorities to tell the ground realities and submit the report by August 22.

On the occasion, PTI founder’s lawyer Azhar Siddiq adopted the stance that his client was not given permission to talk to his sons through WhatsApp.

IHC new bench to take up Toshakhana case

LHC declares PTI founder’s physical remand in May 9 cases null and void

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court(LHC) declared Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI)  founder Imran Khan’s physical remand in 12 cases of May 9 null and void.

The petitions against physical remand in 12 cases of founder PTI were heard by a 2-member bench comprising of Justice Tariq Saleem and Justice Anwar-ul-Haq of the Lahore High Court, while the Prosecutor General Punjab gave arguments in the case.

In the hearing, Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh said that you cannot force the accused to undergo photogrammatic test, while Justice Anwar ul Haq Pannun remarked that when did you get the idea that modern devices should be used now.

Prosecutor General Punjab Farhad Ali Shah said in his arguments that the facility of photogrammatic test is inside the jail and should not be taken outside.

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly passed a resolution against the decision to ban Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and in support of Imran Khan’s release from jail.

Provincial Law Minister Aftab Alam presented the resolution in the session of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

The resolution cited a report from the United Nations General Assembly’s Human Rights Committee, stating that the cases against Imran Khan and his associates violate laws.

The KP Assembly urged that Imran Khan be released in light of the UN report.

It has been said in the resolution that PTI is a political party, it has representation across the country including Kashmir, PTI is working for the survival of Pakistan.

According to the text of the resolution, the ban on PTI will be a violation of Article 17, the Election Commission of Pakistan illegally gave the reserved seats of PTI to other parties. The Supreme Court gave the reserved seats back to PTI.

The resolution demanded that on February 8, PTI was excluded from the elections, and the Chief Election Commissioner should resign.

ISLAMABAD: An Additional District and Sessions Court acquitted Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the iddate case.

Additional district and sessions court Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka pronounced the reserved verdict and declared the trial court verdict null and void.

The court accepted ex-PM Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi’s pleas seeking annulment of conviction in the iddat case.

Judge Afzal Majoka ordered the release of Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi if they are not wanted in any other case and also dismissed the medical board’s plea.

Justice Afzal Majuka pronounced verdict on the appeals against the convictions of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the Iddat case, in which the court said that both the appeals related to the opinion of the medical board and the scholars are rejected.

The court declared the sentences of both as null and void and ordered acquittal.

The court issued orders for the release of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.

The court allowed the appeals against the sentence of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the Iddat case and declared the sentence null and void and acquitted both of them from the case.

RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Terrorism Court(ATC) Rawalpindi has rejected the request of founder chairman Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI) Imran Khan to talk with his sons on WhatsApp.

Judge Malik Ijaz Asif of the Anti-Terrorism Court heard the request for a telephonic meeting with the sons of PTI founder chairman Imran Khan.

A reply was filed by the jail administration on the application, which said that according to the jail manual, there is no law for an accused to meet or call his relatives on WhatsApp.

In response, the jail administration said that according to the court order, PTI founder’s sons are spoken to twice a month.

In the light of the reply submitted by the jail administration, the court rejected the plea of ​​founder chairman PTI to talk to his sons on WhatsApp.

Imran Khan had filed a petition to talk to his sons on WhatsApp, on which the Anti-Terrorism Court had issued a notice to the Adiala Jail authorities and directed them to file a reply.

LAHORE: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Lahore has reserved its judgment on the interim bail petition of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI) founder chairman Imran Khan in Jinnah House and other cases.

The court made the printed message of the Superintendent of Adiala Jail part of the record.

Barrister Salman Safdar said that in my life, “I have never seen cases made against an accused, when the crime was committed, the accused was in custody, how were the cases made, on which the judge said your point is very strong”.

PTI founder seeks better jail conditions in letter to President, PM

LAHORE: Head of Judicial Activism Panel (JAP) Advocate Azhar Siddique wrote a letter to the president and the prime minister to improve facilities in jail for Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf founder Imran Khan.

ISLAMABAD:  Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has decided to participate in the All Parties Conference called by the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has decided to organise an APC “to gain political parties’ confidence” in newly announced Operation Azm-e-Istehkam.

PM Shehbaz will hold consultations to decide on the date of the APC, the sources said, adding that the date would be announced later.

The federal cabinet last week approved the launching of the counter-terrorism operation following the National Action Plan’s Central Apex Committee’s recommendations to turn up the heat on militants targeting Pakistan.

PTI founder summons party leadership in Adiala Jail

RAWALPINDI:  The Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan was worried about the differences in the party and called the two groups to Adiala Jail for a meeting.

The PTI founder said that both the groups have been summoned on July 4.

Founder PTI while talking to journalists said that he himself will talk to them, the matter will be resolved.

On the question which are the two groups, founder PTI replied that he will inform about the situation after talking to the groups.

He did not respond to the question regarding Fawad Chaudhry’s criticism of PTI leadership and calling for a meeting.

Court approves interim bail of Bushra Bibi in £190m case

RAWALPINDI: The Special Accountability Court in Rawalpindi granted interim bail to Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI)  founder Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi in the £190 million National Crime Agency (NCA) settlement case case.

Judge Muhammad Ali Waraich of the Special Court of Accountability heard the £190 million case in Adiala Jail.  Bushra Bibi and PTI founder were present in the court room during the hearing.

Bushra Bibi and founder PTI’s lawyers Zaheer Abbas Chaudhary, Usman Gul, Barrister Salman Safdar and others appeared in the court while NAB Prosecutor General Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi, Amjad Parvez appeared along with the team.

During the hearing, the statements of three prosecution witnesses were recorded and the court summoned three more witnesses for the next hearing.

During the hearing, Bushra Bibi’s lawyer Barrister Salman Safdar argued that the National Accountability Bureau(NAB) team did not oppose Bushra Bibi’s bail and said that Bushra Bibi’s arrest warrant has not been issued.

Accountability Special Court has approved the interim bail of Bushra Bibi in the £190 million case.

Later, the hearing of the £190 million scam against founder PTI and Bushra Bibi was adjourned till July 5.

New York: The United Nations(UN) Human Rights Working Group has termed the decision to detain Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf founder Imran Khan as arbitrary and against international law.

The legal opinion of the UN Working Group has come out on the petition filed in the United Nations by the eminent law firm of Zulfi Bukhari against the arrest of founder PTI Imran Khan, in which the immediate release of Imran Khan has demanded.

A report by the United Nations Human Rights Working Group said that there was no legal justification for the arrest of the PTI founder, apparently aimed at disqualifying him.

The report called on the government to allow the working group to visit Pakistan and conduct an independent investigation into the conditions in the PTI founder’s prison.

The working group has expressed concern that the founder PTI was not given the right to defend itself while the right to cross-examine the lawyers was taken away and given to the government lawyers.

PTI founder stops return of party deserters

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan stopped the return of leaders who had deserted the party.

A 7-member committee under the direction of founder PTI will decide the return of the leaders who left the party in difficult time.

The committee will be headed by Shah Mahmood Qureshi, while the committee will include Asad Qaiser, Hamid Khan, Shehryar Afridi, Barrister Gohar Khan and Shibli Faraz.

Shandana Gulzar has also been included in the committee and she will report on the cases of women and their reasons for leaving the party. After which the committee will send the final list of names to the founding PTI and he will take the final decision.

The party leadership has blocked the return of any leader to the party until the release of Imran Khan and the decision to return the leaders will be made only after the release of the PTI founder.

After May 9, 2023 incidents ,  a big number PTI leaders had announced to quit the party as a crackdown was launched against them for their incendiary speeches and attacking state installations.
