Saudi Arabia boosts oil prices for march

Saudi Arabia suddenly boosted oil prices for its primary Asian market, as well as for clients in the United States and Europe.

The decisions came despite a 7% drop in crude prices this year, as rising interest rates in the United States and Europe offset expectations about a comeback in Chinese demand following the end of coronavirus lockdowns.

Saudi Aramco, the state-owned oil company, raised the majority of the pricing for petroleum that will be exported to Asia in March. The company’s flagship Arab Light grade was raised to $2 a barrel over the regional benchmark, a 20-cent increase over the previous month’s pricing.

It’s the first increase for the grade since September, and it contradicts a Bloomberg poll of dealers and refiners, which projected a 20-cent drop.

The kingdom boosted all European prices by $2 per barrel, and most US prices by 30 cents.

Many OPEC members have recently expressed optimism about China, which is likely to be the single most important factor influencing oil price movements this year.

Haitham Al Ghais, the group’s secretary-general, expressed optimism about China. And the director of Kuwait’s national energy company claimed to Bloomberg that consumption in the world’s biggest crude importer was already on the rise and that it “is not a dead-cat bounce”.

According to Goldman Sachs Group Inc., Brent will rise back above $100 per barrel in the third quarter as China completely reopens its economy, citing low stockpiles and spare capacity among producers. Morgan Stanley has made a similar prediction.

Saudi Caution

Nonetheless, Saudi Arabia’s energy minister, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, stated on Saturday that the country will proceed with caution in increasing oil production.

“I will believe it when I see it and then take action,” Prince Abdulaziz said, referring to higher oil demand globally.

Saudi Arabia is the world’s largest producer of oil. It exports over 60% of its crude supplies to Asia under long-term contracts, with pricing evaluated monthly. The top four buyers are China, Japan, South Korea, and India. Other Arabian Gulf producers, including as Iraq and Kuwait, tend to carefully follow its activities.

With all of her facial expressions in place, Vidya remarked while lounging in a bathrobe in an empty bathtub, “The following phrases are used: Main ghumu-firu, naachu gaau, hasu khelu, bahar jau, akeli jau, kisi aur ke saath jau, jaha jau, jab jau, jaise bhi jau… What do you have to do with me wandering around, singing or dancing, enjoying myself, going out by myself or with whomever, wherever, whenever, and however?”

Films like Parineeta, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, The Dirty Picture, Kahaani, and Begum Jaan include Vidya in important roles. Shefali Shah, Rohini Hattangadi, Manav Kaul, and other actors co-starred with her in the Amazon Prime Video movie Jalsa as a TV journalist. Hira Mani, Nabeel Qureshi & others get robbed during shoot

During a shoot in the port city, a group of charged muggers attacked Pakistani entertainment celebrities including actors Hira Mani, Gul-e-Rana, and film director Nabeel Qureshi, it was revealed on Monday.

In a series of tweets, well-known filmmaker Nabeel Qureshi described the incident, saying that as the crew members were being physically assaulted, his cast was being taunted and abused by a mob.

The event took place in the nation’s largest metropolis, which is dealing with a major law and order problem, in PIB Colony, Jamshed Quarter Martin Road. Qureshi disclosed the presence of Hira Mani, Salman Saquib Sheikh (Mani), Gul-e-Rana, as well as a number of other artists, including some young people, at the shooting location.

Armed guys broke into the home where they were shooting, harassed the female residents, took numerous people’s goods, and then managed to flee the scene.

Qureshi urged the authorities to punish the offenders harshly and protect the security of the performers.

Later, Hira Mani, a prominent actor who was also one of the victims, turned to social media to thank the crew member for rescuing the women and to wish them a swift recovery.

 

As the incident gained notoriety, a number of celebrities from the entertainment industry, including Mahira Khan, Ahsan Khan, Osman Khalid Butt, and others, condemned the violent act and spoke out for the safety of celebrities in the industry.

Sou heard from David Wightwick of UK-Med, who is awaiting a flight to Turkey to lead the UK’s medical response team.

According to him, the initial team of six persons includes surgeons, paramedics, emergency medical personnel, and logistics personnel. More NHS employees will most certainly join them, he says Radio 4’s Today program, but it’s critical that they arrive first and asses how they can best assist.

He explains that they don’t want to take up too much room until they know what they can do to help Turkish officials.

Court serves notice to ECP, Govt on PTI’s petition seeking polls date

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) served notices to the Election Commission of Pakistan and the caretaker provincial government on Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf’s plea seeking election within 90 days after the dissolution of the Khyber Pakhtunkhawa Assembly.

Earlier, KP Assembly was dissolved on January 18 after Governor Haji Ghulam Ali signed the advice for the dissolution of the provincial assembly sent to him by the then Chief Minister Mahmood Khan a day ago.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf moved PHC for elections in the province within 90 days of the dissolution of the assembly.

PTI in its plea said as per the constitution, elections are to be held within 90 days but the KP governor has so far not given any date, citing law and order issues.

The governor said elections cannot be held due to the law and order situation, Moazzam But said and asked when the situation is not favorable how come by-elections on 33 seats are being?

The PHC bench comprising Justice SM Atique Shah and Justice Ishtaique Ibrahim remarked elections should be held within 90 as per the law.

Advocate General Aamir Javed in his remarks before the court said the governor can consult with the ECP for 36 days and added PTI filed the plea in haste.

HATAY, Turkey – Rescuers in Turkey and Syria dug with their bare hands through the chilly night on Tuesday, searching for survivors among the rubble of thousands of houses destroyed by a series of powerful earthquakes.

The reported death toll in both nations has risen to more than 4,800 following a swarm of severe tremors along the Turkey-Syria border, the greatest of which registered a staggering 7.8 magnitude.

Meanwhile, federal minister Saad Rafique announced on Twitter that a 51-member Pakistani rescue team had been dispatched to Istanbul.

According to Turkish and Syrian disaster response teams, about 5,600 buildings have been destroyed across numerous cities, including many multi-story apartment buildings that were full of sleeping occupants when the first quake occurred.

Eyewitnesses in the southern Turkish city of Kahramanmaras struggled to fathom the magnitude of the calamity.

“We thought it was the apocalypse,” said Melisa Salman, a 23-year-old reporter. “That was the first time we have ever experienced anything like that.”

Turkey’s rescue agency AFAD reported 2,921 deaths on Tuesday, raising the total number of confirmed deaths to 4,365.

Residents in the Syrian village of Besnia, close to the Turkish border, search for fatalities and survivors among the rubble of collapsed buildings.

There are fears that the death toll will continue to increase inexorably, with World Health Organization officials predicting that up to 20,000 people may have died.

In a recent interview, Anurag Kashyap discussed the director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. A few years after the premiere of the director’s Devdas (2002), which starred Shah Rukh Khan, he also discussed Sanjay’s response to his film Dev D (2009). The renowned Bengali novel Devdas by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay is the basis for both movies. However, according to Anurag in a recent interview, Sanjay “hated” his interpretation of Devdas.

Sanjay did not like Dev D, according to Anurag Kashyap, who even said that Dev D had “ruined Chandramukhi and Paro.” In Sanjay’s Devdas, Aishwarya Rai played the role of Paro, Devdas’ childhood friend, while Madhuri Dixit played his confidante Chandramukhi, a courtesan. You have damaged Chandramukhi and Paro, he claimed. He mentioned it to Vikram (Vikramaditya Motwane), his assistant and a co-writer on Dev D, rather than to me. Bhansali is an expert. He is a complete freak of genius when it comes to music and dancing. He has now also learned about violence. He displayed violence in Gangubai (Alia Bhatt’s 2022 film Gangubai Kathiawadi). I went and told him, “tu apne limitations se bahar nikla,” since I was so ecstatic about it (you are now coming out of your limitations)

Anurag continued by describing how Sanjay had been angered by a magazine article he had once written about the film Black (2005). Anurag claimed the director of the movie with Rani Mukerji and Amitabh Bachchan believed he was “his adversary.” Black asked Anurag if he liked him, and Anurag said, “I didn’t. I refused to believe it. Sanjay was really unhappy when I wrote about why I didn’t believe it. Since it was personal to him, the work was not intended for publication. Hum dost ho gaye hain, ab wapis. When the ice breaks, it will be mujhe karna pada khud jaa ke (we are friends again after I went and broke the ice with him)… Anurag is an extremely reserved individual.

He has a terrible public presence. I keep reminding him that he should let go of that. He takes his time before he can trust someone. He also manages his personal trauma. He grew up watching the movie business extremely carefully and detested it.

Alaya F and rookie Karan Mehta played the main characters in Anurag Batra’s final movie, Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat. It became available on February 3. The movie saw Anurag and Amit Trivedi, who had previously collaborated on Dev D, return to the romantic musical genre.

PIA plane carrying humanitarian assistance sent to Turkiye

KARACHI: A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane carrying 51 people and humanitarian assistance has left for Turkiye on Tuesday. The team will include personnel of Rescue 1122.

According to the details, a special air operation has been started by PIA for Turkiye and Syria.

The spokesperson of PIA said that on the instructions of the government of Pakistan, the relief goods have left in the special flight PK 707.

The spokesman says that PK 707 has departed from Lahore to Istanbul with the Pakistani rescue team and their special equipment.

From February 8, every day on a PIA flight 15 tonnes of humanitarian assistance will be sent from Islamabad and Lahore to Turkiye and Syria.

Teams from the Ministry of Health and army medical corps have also departed for the two earthquake hit countries

Earlier, on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif a special plane carrying humanitarian assistance left for Turkiye.

A C-130 plane which was carrying the search and rescue team of the army left the Chaklala airbase for the earthquake-affected areas in Turkiye.

The assistance will include winter tents, blankets, and other essential items.

On other hand, On the order of the caretaker Chief Minister Punjab, the 52-member team of Rescue 1122 left for Turkiye. Director General Rescue Dr Rizwan Naseer led the team.

Because Karan Johar’s team from Student of the Year declined to change the release date of the movie, Ronit Roy was unable to accept an opportunity to work in the Hollywood production Zero Dark Thirty. When Ronit recently appeared on the comedy program The Kapil Sharma Show to promote Shehzada with the cast of his upcoming film, Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon, he explained why he was unable to see the Hollywood movie.

First, Kapil stated that he had to let individuals who were unaware know that Ronit had been offered a part in Zero Dark Thirty, but he declined the offer in order to finish Student of the Year. “Yes, I was chosen for the movie Zero Dark Thirty without going through any auditions,” Ronit responded. I was informed that Kathryn Bigelow, the filmmaker, had seen my work and was interested in casting me. That an Oscar-winning director chose me for her movie astounded me.

But their films are booked, and Karan Johar had all of my dates, he said. I requested a date change since working with an Oscar-winning filmmaker on a Hollywood production was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me. But they—not Karan, but rather those who worked with him—refused to let me go and denied to change my Student of the Year audition dates. So I had to say no. Then, when I called Karan a week before the Student of the Year filming to enquire when it would start, he informed me that they were not shooting as planned. That was the biggest letdown, so. I was unable to accept that offer, and even they (Karan’s film) were late.

Ronit has already mentioned receiving an offer for Zero Dark Thirty. He stated, “I genuinely regret not being able to do Homeland and Zero Dark Thirty,” in an interview with Hindustan Times from 2016. If I could have worked with Kathryn Bigelow, I would have. It would have aided in my development as an actor. However, I don’t dwell on regrets. When I was approached for ZDT, I had other obligations, so the dates didn’t work out.

Ronit had expressed sorrow for passing on the project in an interview with PTI in 2013. “Zero Dark Thirty offered me a very intriguing position. But regrettably, I was unable to execute it because of a conflicting date. I watched the movie, and I regret that I wasn’t involved. I couldn’t pass up the chance to collaborate with Karan Johar while filming Student of the Year because I had been hoping for a chance to do so. I had no chance of managing my Zero Dark Thirty dates while we were filming in Thailand.

Qatar sends an envoy to Kabul to meet with Taliban

KABUL – According to an Afghan foreign ministry statement, an envoy for Qatar‘s foreign affairs minister visited the Afghan capital on Sunday and met with the Taliban administration’s acting foreign minister.

The visit comes after the Taliban regime imposed limitations on women’s education and NGO activity, which Qatar described as “very worrying” in the face of overwhelming international condemnation.

According to Afghan foreign affairs spokesperson Abdul Qahar Balkhi, Qatar’s special envoy Mutlaq Bin Majed al-Qahtani met with acting foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi in Kabul.

“Both sides discussed political coordination, the strength of the relationship, and humanitarian aid,” Balkhi said.

Although China and Pakistan dispatched their foreign ministers last year, and the UN deputy special envoy recently came to address women’s rights and relief, no foreign country has publicly recognized the Taliban government.

The Taliban’s political office has been in Qatar since roughly 2012 when they were fighting an insurgency against the Western-backed government until they took power in 2021.
