Pakistan will raise voice for oppressed Palestinians at every international forum: FM Qureshi

RSS ideology is an obstacle to peace in the region: FM Qureshi

After the virtual emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Sunday, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi requested the international community to take immediate action and stop Israeli attacks against the unarmed Palestinians.

“Israeli forces continuously targeting innocent civilians including children, women, and elders in Palestine. Pakistan will raise voice for oppressed Palestinians at every international forum,” Qureshi added.

“Ceasefire is our priority,” Qureshi said following the OIC summit on Palestine, reiterating Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people in their rightful battle for legitimate rights, notably their fundamental right to self-determination.

Qureshi, speaking at the OIC’s virtual emergency meeting today, asked the international community to defend Palestinians from Israel’s blatant use of force and flagrant violations of human rights

He asked the international community to intervene immediately to end Israeli atrocities against the civilian people in Gaza, saying that the bombardment of Gaza must be halted immediately.

Shah Mahmood stated that the Prime Minister has discussed the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

He expressed support with the Palestinians, saying they are battling heroically for their fundamental rights.

According to the minister, Israel’s crimes against humanity should not go unpunished, and there should be no impunity for Israel’s violations of international law and numerous human rights accords.

It is worth noting that Israel maintained its murderous attacks on Sunday, bringing the death toll of Palestinians in Gaza to 170, with more than 30 children and scores of other women slain in the airstrikes.

A day earlier (Saturday), eleven members of a single extended family were killed in an Israeli air attack on the western Gaza Strip, medics in the Palestinian enclave said.

The special plane carrying the vaccine arrived at Islamabad’s Nur Khan Airbase. This was the eighth Covid-19 vaccine consignment that arrived from China.

Earlier, China had presented 1.5 million vaccine doses to Islamabad.

On Thursday Pakistan had accepted another cargo of 500,000 doses of a SinoVac coronavirus vaccine from China.

New prices of petroleum products to be determined on May 17

Petrol

As the prices of petroleum products remained unchanged in the month of Ramadan, a spokesperson for the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) said on Saturday that new prices of petroleum products will be decided on May 17.

Due to the Eid holidays and May 8-16 curbs, it was decided that the new prices of the petroleum products will be determined on May 17 (Monday).

Government Decides To Maintain Sales Tax On Petroleum Products

The government had earlier decided on 10th May to maintain the sales tax rate on petrol and high-speed diesel.

According to the notification issued by the government, the sales tax rate on petrol and diesel will remain at 17%.

The notification said that the sales tax rate on kerosene has been reduced from 17% to 15.44% while the sales tax rate on light diesel has been reduced from 17% to 7.56%.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan had decided that the price of petroleum products would not be increased. The OGRA summary recommended an increase of Rs. 5 to 10.

The Prime Minister rejected it and decided to maintain the April 16 prices.

According to the notification issued by the Finance Ministry, the price of petrol has been fixed at Rs 108.56 per litre, high-speed diesel at Rs 110.76 per litre, kerosene at Rs 80 per litre and light diesel at Rs 77.65 per litre.

The government is bearing the burden of Rs 4.8 billion by maintaining prices.

It should be noted that on April 1, the federal government had reduced the price of petrol by Rs 1.5.

According to the notification issued by the Finance Ministry, petrol was reduced by Rs 1.55 per litre for the next 15 days, diesel by Rs 3 per litre and kerosene by Rs 55 per litre. Similarly, the price of light diesel oil has been reduced by Rs. 1, 56 paise per litre.

According to the Finance Ministry, the new price of petrol has been fixed at Rs 110.35 per litre, diesel at Rs 113.8 per litre, light diesel at Rs 79.86 per litre and kerosene at Rs 82.06 per litre.

It may be recalled that since February 15, Prime Minister Imran Khan had repeatedly rejected summaries and decided to maintain prices. On February 15, Prime Minister Imran Khan rejected a proposal to increase the prices of petroleum products.

OGRA had proposed an increase of Rs 14.07 per litre in petrol and Rs 13.61 per litre in high-speed diesel. Kerosene was recommended at Rs 10.79. OGRA had proposed an increase of Rs 7.43 in the price of light diesel.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the government would go to any lengths to provide relief to the people.

On February 28, Prime Minister Imran Khan once again announced that prices would be maintained.

Dr Shahbaz Gill, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan, said in a statement on social networking site Twitter that OGRA had proposed to increase the price of petroleum products by about Rs 6-7 per litre.

Prime Minister Imran Khan did not approve the proposal. There was no increase in the prices of petroleum products. Despite the continuous rise in the prices of petroleum products in the world market, the Prime Minister did not allow it.

On March 15, the government once again decided to keep the price of petrol stable.

A statement issued by the finance ministry said the government was not raising petrol and high-speed diesel prices but would increase the price of kerosene by Rs 3.42 per litre and light diesel by Rs 2.19 per litre.

It may be recalled that during the first two and a half months of this year, the government has increased the price of petroleum products five times in a row. In the same period, petrol was earlier priced at Rs 11.21 per litre.

During the first two and a half months of this year, high-speed diesel was priced at Rs 14.64 per litre.

In the same period, kerosene price was increased by Rs 14.90 per litre. In two and a half months, light diesel was priced at Rs 16.37 per litre.

“Israel has given a “warning” that it will bomb the building that houses Al Jazeera offices and other international media channels in Gaza City in one hour…our colleagues have already evacuated.”

Earlier on Friday, Israel continued to bombard the Gaza Strip with airstrikes and shells, shutting eyes to international condemnation, killing more than 100 people.

According to the media reports, the latest fatalities bring to 113 the official death toll, including at least 31 children.

Residents of northern Gaza, near the Israeli frontier, said they had seen no sign of Israeli ground forces inside the enclave but reported heavy artillery fire and dozens of airstrikes.

Israeli security forces have also been scrambled to contain deadly riots between Jews and Arabs, and projectiles have been fired from Lebanon.

Images early Friday showed large balls of flame turning the night sky orange in densely packed Gaza, while rockets were seen tracing through the air towards Israel.

Videos doing rounds on social media also showed several alleged Israeli settlers attacking Palestinian homes in the city of Hebron in the West Bank early on Friday.

The United Nations said the Security Council would meet on Sunday to address the conflict as the world body’s Secretary-General called for “an immediate de-escalation and cessation of hostilities”. “Too many innocent civilians have already died,” Antonio Guterres tweeted.

“This conflict can only increase radicalization and extremism in the whole region.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a statement on Friday said the Israeli military operation against Palestinian militants in Gaza would continue for as long as necessary. He said Hamas, the Islamist group that rules Gaza, would pay a heavy price.

Enraged Netizens Compare Malala Yousafzai, Mia Khalifa For Their Remarks Over Israeli Atrocities

Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai is facing extreme backlash for skipping the terrorist acts by Israel in her tweet as she commented over the ongoing violent clashes between Palestine and Israel.

The videos and pictures of Israeli forces inhumane assault on the worshippers in Jerusalem’s Al Aqsa Mosque on worshippers have sent shockwaves across the world with Muslim communities condemning the brutal act of terrorism by Israel.

Some expressed extreme outrage over Malala for not speaking for the Muslims in Palestine despite having humongous international outreach. Internet users believe Malala Yousafzai has the opportunity to fight the case for the troubled Muslim brethren in Gaza and Jerusalem being persecuted cruelly.

The enraged social media users slammed her for deliberately twisting the facts and severity of the violence and gross human rights violations in Palestine. Malala, however, has not responded to the backlash on social media.

Netizens jumped in to make corrections in the Nobel Prize Laureate’s tweet for not highlighting the brutal act of terrorism by Israel.

Take A Look:

On the other hand, former lewd star Mia Khalifa, who is quite controversial for her immoral past, has been shedding light on the crisis taking place in Palestine.

Amidst the ongoing demonstrations worldwide for the rights of Palestinians, Mia Khalifa was no different than other supporters as she continued to highlight the facts despite her deleted posts by Instagram.

However, in her recent tweet, she wrote, “Imagine I walk into a McDonald’s and demand they change the name to Miacdonalds and leave the premises immediately. And when they don’t, I b*mb that McDonald’s into oblivion and call it self defense.”

The tweet clearly referred that bombing doesn’t mean self defense in any case.
