Boris Johnson Extends Support For British Jews After London Car Video Incident

The United Kingdom (UK) Prime Minister Boris Johnson, showcasing his full support for the British Jews said that there was no place for anti-Semitism in society.

Boris Johnson referred to a video in his recent statement which circulated online showing anti-Semitic abuse being shouted from a car in north London.

“There is no place for anti-Semitism in our society,” Johnson said on Twitter. “Ahead of Shavuot, I stand with Britain’s Jews who should not have to endure the type of shameful racism we have seen today.”

His comments also referred to other incidents of anti-Semitism over the weekend amidst the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian violence which has killed more than 200 innocent Palestinians.

“Whatever your view of the conflict in Israel and Gaza, there is no justification for inciting anti-Jewish or anti-Muslim hatred,” communities minister Robert Jenrick said in a statement.

Britain’s Metropolitan police said: “We are aware of a video appearing to show anti-Semitic language being shouted from a convoy of cars in the St John’s Wood area this afternoon.

“Officers are carrying out urgent enquiries to identify those responsible. This sort of behaviour will not be tolerated.”

On the other hand, Israeli medics said the stands at a West Bank synagogue has collapsed, killing two people and injuring more than 150.

According to the reports, the stands were packed with Orthodox Jews, broke down at the beginning of the Jewish festival.

A spokeswoman for Megan David Adam told the international news channel that paramedics reported more than 157 injuries, including two deaths, including a 50-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy.

Rescue workers are at the scene treating the injured and transporting people to hospitals.

It should be noted that a few weeks ago, 45 extremist Orthodox Jews were killed in a stampede during a religious festival in northern Israel.

Israeli health workers say dozens have been injured as they stood in an incomplete synagogue in an area of ​​the West Bank near Jerusalem.

After the virtual emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Sunday, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi requested the international community to take immediate action and stop Israeli attacks against the unarmed Palestinians.

“Israeli forces continuously targeting innocent civilians including children, women, and elders in Palestine. Pakistan will raise voice for oppressed Palestinians at every international forum,” Qureshi added.

“Ceasefire is our priority,” Qureshi said following the OIC summit on Palestine, reiterating Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people in their rightful battle for legitimate rights, notably their fundamental right to self-determination.

Qureshi, speaking at the OIC’s virtual emergency meeting today, asked the international community to defend Palestinians from Israel’s blatant use of force and flagrant violations of human rights

He asked the international community to intervene immediately to end Israeli atrocities against the civilian people in Gaza, saying that the bombardment of Gaza must be halted immediately.

Shah Mahmood stated that the Prime Minister has discussed the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

He expressed support with the Palestinians, saying they are battling heroically for their fundamental rights.

According to the minister, Israel’s crimes against humanity should not go unpunished, and there should be no impunity for Israel’s violations of international law and numerous human rights accords.

It is worth noting that Israel maintained its murderous attacks on Sunday, bringing the death toll of Palestinians in Gaza to 170, with more than 30 children and scores of other women slain in the airstrikes.

A day earlier (Saturday), eleven members of a single extended family were killed in an Israeli air attack on the western Gaza Strip, medics in the Palestinian enclave said.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has on Sunday voiced support for the Palestinian cause amidst the ongoing Israeli atrocities and airstrikes in Gaza, which has so far killed more than 200 innocent Palestinian Muslims.

During the important Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) meeting, which took place as Al-Quds passes through one of its most difficult phases, FM Qureshi reiterated Pakistan’s full support for Palestine.

The other points raised by the Foreign Minister include:

  1. Indiscriminate use of force by Israeli forces against defenceless Palestinians defies all international law.
  2. The tragedy of forced evictions of Palestinians from Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood of Al-Quds Al-Shareef is the latest manifestation of a systematic Israeli effort to change demographic structure, historical and legal status and Arab-Islamic / Christian character of Al-Quds Al-Shareef.
  3. Creating false equivalence between Israel, the aggressor and Palestinians, the victims, is inexcusable. Attempts to silence media through tyranny, unacceptable.
  4. OIC owes genesis to the Palestinian issue. Muslim Ummah must exhibit strong solidarity for the people of Palestine with action.

In another tweet, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that there comes a time in the history of  nations when decisions taken are remembered by posterity and it is important to be on the right side of history.

He also urged the entire Muslim community to not fail Palestinian people at this critical juncture.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had a telephonic conversation with the Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and discussed the Palestinian issue, the peace process in Afghanistan, and Pakistan-China bilateral relations.

The Foreign Minister congratulated Chinese leadership and its people for the successful landing of the Chinese spacecraft at Mars and underlined that it was a historic milestone for China in the technological realm.

The United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres recently weeps and expressed displeasure over the ongoing brutalities in Palestine by Israel´s strike on a building containing international media outlets.

The UN chief Antonio Guterres was “dismayed” by civilian killed in Gaza and “deeply disturbed” by the brutal acts of terrorism, killing more than 200 innocent Palestinians.

The comments came as Israel hit the Gaza Strip with airstrikes, demolishing the 13-floor Gaza building housing Qatar-based Al Jazeera and The Associated Press news agency.

“The Secretary-General is dismayed by the increasing number of civilian casualties, including the death of ten members of the same family, including children, as a result of an Israeli airstrike last night in the al-Shati camp in Gaza, purportedly aimed at a Hamas leader,” his spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, said.

Guterres was “also deeply disturbed by the destruction by an Israeli airstrike today of a high-rise building in Gaza City that housed the offices of several international media organizations as well as residential apartments,” Dujarric continued.

“The Secretary-General reminds all sides that any indiscriminate targeting of civilians and media structures violates international law and must be avoided at all costs,” he said.

Moreover, the UN Security Council was to meet Sunday to discuss the violent situation.

Saudi FM Stresses Need To Stop Israel’s Terrorism Acts in call with Palestinian Counterpart

Saudi Foreign Minister (FM) Prince Faisal bin Farhan expressed the deep condemnation by the kingdom over the brutal acts of terrorism by Israel during a phone call with Palestine’s Foreign Affairs Minister Riyad al-Maliki.

According to media reports, the Saudi FM also emphasised the need to stop Israel’s actions that violate international laws.

Prince Faisal also called for “complete efforts” aimed at finding a fair and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian conflict.

He further added that the state would have East Jerusalem as its capital, “in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative,” reports added.

Earlier, during a phone call with Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud had expressed “Pakistan’s serious concerns” on the “grave situation” in Palestine.

“FM Qureshi expressed Pakistan’s serious concerns on the storming of the Al Aqsa Mosque and grave human rights violations.

“He condemned the continued attacks by the Israeli Defence Forces against the Palestinians, in particular innocent civilians and children, adding that the Israeli acts defied all norms of humanity and international law,” said the statement issued by the Foreign Office (FO).

It added that Qureshi also dismissed the Pakistan-Saudi Arabia joint statement issued during PM Imran Khan’s recent visit to KSA.

“The foreign minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s full support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, especially their right to self-determination and establishment of their independent state with pre-1967 borders and East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant UN resolutions.”

However, the Saudi foreign minister also declared his reservations on the “serious developments in Palestine” and briefed FM Qureshi on the initiatives being taken to address the situation.

In a tweet today, President Alvi termed the ongoing atrocities by Israel against Palestine a mere “murderous assault”.

“Bad headline. Israel pounds Gaza as deadly conflict intensifies” This is NOT a conflict Sir! This is a one-sided brutal, murderous assault. A massacre of people who are fighting to live on THEIR land stolen from them. A free Palestine shall emerge,” he wrote.

On Friday, Israel continued to bombard the Gaza Strip with airstrikes and shells, shutting eyes to international condemnation, killing more than 100 people.

According to the media reports, the latest fatalities bring to 113 the official death toll, including at least 31 children.

Residents of northern Gaza, near the Israeli frontier, said they had seen no sign of Israeli ground forces inside the enclave but reported heavy artillery fire and dozens of airstrikes.

Israeli security forces have also been scrambled to contain deadly riots between Jews and Arabs, and projectiles have been fired from Lebanon.

Images early Friday showed large balls of flame turning the night sky orange in densely packed Gaza, while rockets were seen tracing through the air towards Israel.

Videos doing rounds on social media also showed several alleged Israeli settlers attacking Palestinian homes in the city of Hebron in the West Bank early on Friday.

The United Nations said the Security Council would meet on Sunday to address the conflict as the world body’s Secretary-General called for “an immediate de-escalation and cessation of hostilities”. “Too many innocent civilians have already died,” Antonio Guterres tweeted.

“This conflict can only increase radicalization and extremism in the whole region.”

On the other hand, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a statement on Friday said the Israeli military operation against Palestinian militants in Gaza would continue for as long as necessary. He said Hamas, the Islamist group that rules Gaza, would pay a heavy price.
