A form of the constitutional amendment will emerge next week, says Khawaja Asif

ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that some form of constitutional amendment is expected to emerge next week after consultations among political parties.

Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, Asif stated that it is the right of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto to express his views. However, he declined to comment on the ongoing discussions, saying it was not appropriate to do so at this stage.

He explained that all parties are being consulted, and once a consensus is reached, the final version of the amendment will be presented.

On regional matters, Asif said that progress in Pakistan-Afghanistan talks depends on mutual understanding and wisdom. He added that the Pakistani delegation has already departed, and formal negotiations will begin tomorrow.

The defence minister expressed hope that Afghanistan will act wisely to ensure peace in the region, emphasizing that dialogue is only meaningful when there is a real possibility of progress.
