A major power breakdown at the Dhabeji Pumping Station disrupted the city’s water supply, but repair work is currently underway, according to the Water Board spokesperson.
According to a spokesperson for the Karachi Water Corporation, a major breakdown occurred at the fourth phase of the Dhabeji Pumping Station today at 12:15 pm due to a sudden power outage from K-Electric.
K-Electric officials stated that the breakdown was caused by a cable fault, and repair work has already begun. The spokesperson said that the power interruption led to the shutdown of three pumps at the Dhabeji station, resulting in a shortfall of approximately 54 million gallons of water to the city.
K-Electric management has assured the Water Corporation that the fault will be repaired within the next 18 hours. Meanwhile, Water Corporation officials are in constant contact with K-Electric to ensure the earliest possible restoration of power.
The spokesperson added that once electricity is restored, the pumping system at Dhabeji will return to normal operation.
