In an interview with Mathrubhumi, Nassar candidly admitted that “Popcorn” was a disappointment and took responsibility for its shortcomings as a director. Such humility and honesty are uncommon in the film industry, where artists often shy away from owning up to unsuccessful works.

During the interview, Nassar also touched upon his professional relationship with Mohanlal. He praised Mohanlal’s down-to-earth nature, mentioning that despite being a huge superstar, the “Lucifer” actor carries no ego. Nassar recounted an incident from a movie they acted in together, where Mohanlal’s dedication to his craft was evident. After wrapping up for the day, when Mohanlal learned about a lengthy conversation scene scheduled for the next day, he immediately got out of his car and diligently prepared by writing down his dialogues in a notepad.

Nassar further emphasized that working with Mohanlal was pressure-free and shared an anecdote from their Malayalam film “Mukham,” where the superstar helped him with the language barrier. Mohanlal assisted Nassar with the meanings of dialogues and pauses, highlighting the strong bond they share as co-stars.

After grossing an impressive USD 7 million in its first week, the film is still posting sensational numbers on its second Friday.

In Australia, despite facing setbacks on the distribution front, the film managed to gross AUD 91,000 on its second Friday, marking a mere 20 percent drop from the previous week’s earnings of AUD 112,000. This achievement is noteworthy, considering the film lost 40 percent of its screening locations in the second week. During the first week, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani had limited showcasing but recorded high occupancies and boasted the third-highest per-screen average among the top ten films with AUD 4,867. Despite losing some key screening locations, the film admirably overcame the hurdles. However, the number of available showings remains disappointingly low, even though advance sales for tomorrow are astonishing.

On the other side of the globe, in North America, the film experienced a similar trend. Despite losing a significant number of screens in the second week, the second Friday started only 10 percent below last week’s earnings. Had the film been showcased normally, it would have looked to gross USD 400,000 plus, compared to last week’s USD 462,000. However, the film now faces the challenge of overcoming screening constraints. Even if it manages to reach around USD 350,000, it would still be an incredible hold.

Let’s take a look at the comparison between the first and second Friday earnings of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani in some territories:

Despite the challenges and reduced screening locations, the film’s second-week performance in some territories has been quite impressive, with some even seeing growth in earnings.

The film has already garnered fantastic advances, with the top three national chains selling over 30,000 tickets six days before its release. PVR alone has sold over 12,000 tickets, Inox over 8,500 tickets, and Cinepolis over 9,500 tickets as of 10 pm on 4th August. The first-day projections for Gadar 2 are climbing, and it is likely to surpass the earlier expected figure of Rs 25 crores with ease.

As of Thursday, 10 PM, OMG 2 has secured 3200 advance bookings in three major national chains – PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis. Additionally, MovieMax chain added another 100 bookings, bringing the total to 3300 tickets. Although these numbers might seem modest compared to past blockbusters like Gadar, they are promising enough to ensure a decent initial box-office performance. Earlier concerns about OMG 2 following the fate of Selfiee have been eased by the positive trend in advance bookings, indicating a much stronger opening day performance than Selfiee. The film’s ultimate goal is to approach the success of its predecessor, Oh My God, or even surpass it in the long run.

Taking to his Instagram stories, Abhishek Bachchan shared a new date for the trailer release of Ghoomer, stating, “As a mark of respect to our beloved #NitinDesai, we the team of #Ghoomer have decided to postpone our trailer release function which was to be held tomorrow in Mumbai. We will release it on the 4th of August.”

Nitin Desai was widely regarded as one of the best art directors in the Hindi and Marathi film industry.
