Recently, in a rare display of accountability, Nassar came forward and openly apologized for one of his films, “Popcorn,” which starred the renowned actors Mohanlal and Simran.

In an interview with Mathrubhumi, Nassar candidly admitted that “Popcorn” was a disappointment and took responsibility for its shortcomings as a director. Such humility and honesty are uncommon in the film industry, where artists often shy away from owning up to unsuccessful works.

During the interview, Nassar also touched upon his professional relationship with Mohanlal. He praised Mohanlal’s down-to-earth nature, mentioning that despite being a huge superstar, the “Lucifer” actor carries no ego. Nassar recounted an incident from a movie they acted in together, where Mohanlal’s dedication to his craft was evident. After wrapping up for the day, when Mohanlal learned about a lengthy conversation scene scheduled for the next day, he immediately got out of his car and diligently prepared by writing down his dialogues in a notepad.

Nassar further emphasized that working with Mohanlal was pressure-free and shared an anecdote from their Malayalam film “Mukham,” where the superstar helped him with the language barrier. Mohanlal assisted Nassar with the meanings of dialogues and pauses, highlighting the strong bond they share as co-stars.

This bond between Nassar and Mohanlal might have influenced Nassar’s decision to cast the actor alongside Simran in his directorial venture. In the film, Mohanlal and Simran portrayed a married couple, displaying their on-screen chemistry honed through years of acting together.

In a heartfelt message, he gave a special shout-out to his dear friend and colleague, Mammootty, who bagged the Best Actor award for his exceptional performance in the movie “Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam.” In the film, Mammootty portrayed the role of a middle-aged Malayali Christian man who wakes up one day and starts behaving like a Tamil man named Sundaram, missing for two years. It was undoubtedly one of the megastar’s finest performances.

Mohanlal also extended his congratulations to director Mahesh Narayanan, who won the award for his movie “Ariyippu.” Additionally, he praised actor Kunchako Boban, who received a special jury mention for his outstanding acting in “Nna Thaan Case Kodu.” Not forgetting the talents on the female front, Mohanlal sent his love and best wishes to actress Vincy Aloshious, who was honored with the Best Actress award for her powerhouse performance in the film “Rekha.”

Mohanlal and filmmaker Jeethu Joseph, renowned for their successful collaboration in the Drishyam franchise, have joined forces once again for an upcoming film. This marks their fifth collaboration following the Drishyam series and the ongoing project, Ram. Produced by Aashirvaad Cinemas, the film is currently untitled and is expected to begin shooting in August 2023.

While further details about the movie, including the cast and crew, are yet to be revealed, the news of their reunion has generated significant excitement among film enthusiasts. Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph have a history of delivering blockbusters, notably with Drishyam and its sequel Drishyam 2, which received remakes in multiple languages.

They are currently working on the third instalment of the Drishyam franchise. Additionally, the duo is collaborating on another project titled Ram, which is being filmed in two parts and will have a pan-Indian release in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada languages.

According to reports, the team behind the Drishyam films (in Hindi and Malayalam) is strategically planning to shoot both movies simultaneously with the aim of releasing them on the same date across India. While the Malayalam version will feature Mohanlal as George Kutty, the Hindi version will showcase Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar. Aamir was recently seen with Kartik Aaryan at a wedding in Bhopal.

For the party, Aamir, Kamal Haasan, Mohanlal, Akshay, and Karan all wore ethnic Indian attire in white tones. Aamir held a walking stick and wore a cream kurta with a mundu (a cloth worn around the waist, typically in south India). In response to his photos on Reddit, someone wrote: “How did Aamir Khan’s leg fare? He uses a walking staff, but why?” Another person mentioned how the actor has been seen at numerous weddings all around the nation. He noted: “These days, Aamir Khan attends a lot of weddings. If these are paid appearances, I wonder. He might be attempting to recoup some of the damages suffered by Lal Singh Chaddha (2022).”

Recently, Mohanlal was reportedly filming in Jaisalmer for his appearance in Rajinikanth’s Jailor. Earlier this week, Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani were married in Jaisalmer. When the paparazzi encountered Mohanlal at the airport, they enquired as to his involvement in the nuptials. Mohanlal was not invited, as he made it quite obvious.

Later on same day, he did share a picture with Karan Johar, who attended the wedding. He took a photo with the filmmaker and posted it on Twitter with the caption, “Time well spent with Karan @karanjohar.” Ram, Mohanlal’s subsequent movie starring Jeethu Joseph, will be released soon.

Akshay’s next appearance will be in Raj Mehta’s family comedy Selfiee, which also stars Emraan Hashmi, Nushratt Bharuccha, and Diana Penty. The movie is scheduled to premiere on February 23, 2023.
