Father kills his daughter, her friend for honour in Malir

KARACHI:  A father fatally shot his daughter and her friend in the name of honour in  Rafah e Aam Society area of Malir.

According to the police, the dead girl was identified as Fatima and the deceased youth has not been identified.

The police said that the firing was done by the girl’s father, Azhar, the accused killed both of them in the name of honor, after the incident, the accused was arrested on the spot.

The police said that the two persons have been shot one in the head, two pistol shells and a coin have been found at the crime scene.

KARACHI: The different parts of Karachi received light to heavy rain on Friday morning while the Sindh government has already declared a rain emergency across the Sindh province.

Rain is continuing intermittently in North Karachi, Surjani Town, Manghopir, Northern Bypass, Korangi Industrial Area, and Malir areas of Karachi.

It should be noted that the Meteorological Department had predicted four spells of rain in Karachi from this afternoon due to which a rain emergency was imposed in the city.

In the context of the forecast of rains, a half-day holiday has been announced in government and private institutions, while a holiday has been announced in private and government schools in the evening shift.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah imposed a rain emergency across the province and canceled the holidays by issuing a high alert in all local bodies, administrations, and hospitals.

The Chief Minister of Sindh has also appealed to the people not to leave their homes unnecessarily, while an emergency cell has also been set up in the Cantonment Headquarters.

On behalf of KMC, machinery for rainwater drainage has been delivered across Karachi city.

Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab said that the city’s drains and choke points have been opened.

The weather expert maintained that the spell of rain across Pakistan is likely to last till March 3.

MQM decides to file petition in IHC against delimitation

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan has started considering filing a petition in the Islamabad High Court(IHC) on delimitation.

MQM-Pakistan raised objections on Malir, Keamari, Baldia, and Korangi constituencies of Karachi in a meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja.

The MQM also raised objections to the merger of the urban section with the rural population in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Mirpur Khas, and Nawabshah.

MQM expressed its serious reservations about the Provincial Election Commissioner and demanded the Chief Election Commissioner remove him from the post.

MQM Pakistan has started considering filing a petition in the Islamabad High Court on the delimitation of constituencies.

“There is a strong possibility that very soon a petition will be filed in the Islamabad High Court after taking a final decision on behalf of MQM Pakistan”.

Court sends private school principal on judicial remand

KARACHI: The local court of Karachi has sent the accused principal to judicial remand in the case of alleged rape of women.

In the court of Judicial Magistrate Malir, the case of the alleged rape of women by the principal of the school in Gulshan e Hadeed was heard, in which the police produced the accused in the court after completing the physical remand.

During the hearing, the investigating officer told the court that the initial investigation of the accused had been completed, but the investigating officer requested further physical remand of the accused, which the court rejected and sent the accused Irfan Ghafoor to jail on judicial remand.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case till September 20, seeking a challan from the investigating officer for the next hearing.

KARACHI: The police crackdown against the Afghans living illegally in Karachi is continuing and 46 more people were arrested from different areas of the city.

According to details, on the second day of the ongoing crackdown against Afghans residing illegally in Karachi, 46 more illegal Afghans were arrested.
Police officials say that 23 illegal Afghans were arrested from Malir, while Shah Latif Town Police arrested 15 illegal Afghans.

Apart from this, Memongoth Police arrested two illegal resident Afghans, and Bin Qasim Town Police arrested six Afghans.

It should be remembered that operations were carried out against Afghan citizens living illegally in Karachi yesterday, during which 123 Afghan citizens were arrested from across the city.
