ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has established a four-tier Election Monitoring and Control Centres (EMCC) to register and resolve public complaints during the local government by-elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on October 20.

ECP spokesperson said, “These control rooms are located at the provincial, divisional, and district levels, as well as at the Election Commission Secretariat in Islamabad to address region-specific complaints efficiently. Trained personnel are stationed at the centers to provide swift and efficient solutions to public grievances.”

“This multi-level approach ensures efficient complaint resolution and provides easily accessible support to the public,” he added.

“The Election Commission of Pakistan is committed to maintaining the integrity of the electoral process and addressing concerns in a timely manner,” the spokesperson said.

“Complaints can be submitted at EMCCs on October 19 from 8 AM to 5 PM. Beginning October 20, the control rooms will continue to communicate with relevant personnel and stakeholders, remaining operational until the electoral process concludes,” he informed.

The control center is equipped with monitoring capabilities for both social media and electronic media.

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has established a Central Control Room in Islamabad for monitoring and registration of complaints related to local government by-polls in Sindh.

A control room has been set up in the Election Commission Secretariat for from November 04 to November 06.

ECP Spokesperson said a central control room has been set up to monitor the election process, and redressal of complaints and will continue to function till the election results are announced.

He added that officers in the central control room along with the monitoring team will monitor the election process. ECP Spokesperson said the central control room will remain in place from November 4 to November 6.

He further said the control room will continue to function from the start of the polling process till the tabulation of the preliminary results.

Murtaza Wahab files nomination papers for by-polls

KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab submitted his nomination papers on the last day of submission of nomination papers for the vacant local body seats in Karachi.

Election will be held on November 5 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. without any break. The election commission will announce the results on November 8.

Murtaza Wahab will contest from UC 13 of Saddar Town, UC 3 of Mauripur Town, and UC 7 of Ibrahim Hyderi. Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad will submit his nomination paper from UC 7 Gadap Town.

As per the new rules, the mayor, deputy mayor, and other members of local government should have to contest the election within six months.

A total of 886 vacant seats of general member, chairman, and vice chairman will be filled across the province after the by-polls.

While talking to the media on the occasion of submitting nomination papers, Murtaza Wahab said that operations are going on against hydrants and the wallman mafia: He explained that “I am not a man with political grudges, Hafiz Naeem is my elder, I respect him”. He also offered Naeem ur Rehman to work together for the welfare of the city. He said all chairmen are respectable to him.

Murtaza Wahab said that the People’s Party wants the elections to be fair and fair. He said that Hafiz Naeem gets angry when he meets the town chairmen and added that time will prove who is what and in what capacity.

ECP fixes date of by-polls on 33 vacant seats

ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced that it will hold by-polls on 33 vacant National Assembly (NA) seats on March 16.

The NA seats had fallen vacant earlier this month when NA Speaker Raja Parvez Ashraf accepted the resignations of 34 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers and Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid.

The PTI resigned en masse in April last year after the ouster of Imran Khan but only 11 resignations were accepted in July.

The speaker had announced that he would verify all the remaining resignations individually but he moved swiftly accepting 113 resignations after the PTI chief announced to return to the assembly.

According to the election schedule announced by the ECP today, candidates will be able to file their nomination papers between February 6-8.

The names of the candidates will be published on February 9 and the returning officers (RO) will carry out the scrutiny of the nomination papers till February 13.

The last date to file appeals against the RO’s decision on the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers is February 16.

According to the election schedule, the last date for the appellate tribunal to decide on the appeals is February 20. After this, the revised list of candidates will be published on February 21.

The last date to withdraw candidature and release of revised list of candidates is February 22 while the election symbols will be allotted on February 23 and the polls will be held on March 16.

So far, the resignations of 123 PTI MNAs have been accepted and all have been denotified.
