ISLAMABAD: A delegation of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM-P) on Wednesday met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Shraif where they expressed reservations about the attitude of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

The MQM delegation comprised MNA Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Mustafa Kamal, Rauf Siddiqui, Fauzia Hameed, and Sadiq Iftikhar.

During meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif , the economic situation of the country and the rapidly increasing inflation were discussed.

Sources said that Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui expressed reservations regarding the attitude of the Pakistan People’s Party and the non-implementation of the agreement by the federal government.

Apart from this, the progress so far regarding the correctness of constituencies in Sindh was also discussed.

The MQM Liaison Committee has expressed concern over the delay in the agreement and the non-acceptance of demands.

In this regard, the sources have said that MQM Pakistan has decided to announce the action plan if the notification of additional Union Councils (UCs) is not issued and they said that few administrative posts cannot be a substitute for the demands of MQM.

According to the sources, the MQM is considering leaving the positions for acceptance of their genuine demands.

MQM leader Babar Ghauri arrives in Karachi

KARACHI: Former federal minister and Muttahida Qaumi Movement(MQM) leader Babar Ghauri has arrived in Pakistan.

In this regard, sources said that MQM leader Babar Ghauri has reached Karachi from Dubai on Emirates Airlines flight EK 606.

Sources said that Babar Ghauri left Airport after immigration.

Regarding this, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials said that Babar Ghuri was not arrested as he was on protective bail from the court.

It should be noted that there are cases against Babar Ghauri in FIA under terror financing and money laundering, NAB is also investigating him for illegal recruitment in Karachi Port.

KARACHI: The Sindh Cabinet has withdrawn the notification of demarcations in Karachi and Hyderabad and a letter has been issued to the Election Commission of Pakistan(ECP) in this regard.

The inside story of the meeting of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) delegation with Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah after the announcement of the postponement of local government(LG) elections by the Sindh government in Karachi has come to light.

Sources said that Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah personally welcomed the MQM delegation to the Chief Minister’s House.

Speaking to the MQM delegation in the meeting, Sindh Chief Minister said that the Sindh Cabinet has withdrawn the notification of demarcations of Karachi and Hyderabad. He said MQM is ally of PPP and will go with them.

Sources said that the MQM delegation thanked the Sindh government, especially Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-Chairman PPP Asif Zardari for this decision.

Meanwhile, Farooq Sattar said that Asif Zardari fulfilled his promise.

According to sources, the withdrawn notification of the Sindh government regarding demarcations has been handed over to the MQM delegation.

Sources said that MQM Pakistan withdrew the protest call, and the MQM delegation informed the Sindh Chief Minister about the withdrawal of the protest call.

It should be noted that after the announcement of the postponement of local body elections by the Sindh government last night, a delegation of MQM, led by Farooq Sattar, met with the Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, which included Faisal Subzwari, Mustafa Kamal, Waseem Akhtar, and Javed Hanif.

KARACHI: A total of 10,629 candidates are contesting the second phase of local government (LG) elections in 25 towns of Karachi division.

A tough contest is expected between Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI), Peoples Party Party(PPP) , Jamaat e Islami(JI), and Muttahida Qaumi Movement(MQM-P) candidates in local government elections scheduled to be held on January 15.

Data from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) showed there are 74 chairmen and 204 ward candidates in Gulberg town of District Central, 121 chairmen, and 205 ward candidates in Liaquatabad town.

Nazimabad Town has 56 chairmen, and 191 wards, New Karachi Town has 102 chairmen, and 310 wards and North Nazimabad has 131 chairmen and 391 ward candidates.

Similarly, there are 97 candidates for chairman and 312 candidates forward in Landhi town of Korangi District.

There are 70 candidates for Chairman and 227 Wards in Model Colony Town, 102 Candidates for Chairman, and 271 Wards in Korangi Town. There are 82 candidates for chairman and 247 candidates forward in Shah Faisal Town.

On other hand, In District Malir Gadap Town, 56 Chairman and 221 Ward Candidates, 75 Chairman and 291 Ward Candidates in Malir Town and 93 Chairman and 302 Ward Candidates in Ibrahim Hydari Town are in the fray.

There are 128 candidates for Chairman, 369 Wards in Manghopir Town of District West, 84 Candidates for Chairman, and 232 Candidates for Ward in Mominabad Town.

There are 86 candidates for chairman and 250 candidates forward in Orangi Town.

Meanwhile, there are 98 chairmen and 305 ward candidates in Lyari Town in South District.

There are 115 candidates for chairman and 350 candidates forward in Sadar Town.

There are 66 candidates for Chairman and 280 candidates for Ward in Sohrab Goth Town of District East.

There are 74 candidates for chairman, 269 for the ward in Safora town and 101 for chairman, and 310 for the ward in Gulshan Iqbal town.

In Jinnah Town, there are 63 candidates for Chairman, 204 for Ward and 61 for Chairman, and 165 for Ward in Chaneasar Town.

In District Kemiari, there are 121 candidates for chairman and 441 candidates forward in Baldia town of Kemari District.
