LAHORE: Deputy Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Liaqat Baloch, has claimed that his party rejects the constitutional amendment, alluding to the ulterior motives behind it.
The deputy chief expressed his intention to organize and mobilize the public for the protection of the constitution of Pakistan.
He also mentioned that Jamaat will hold its meeting on political affairs on September 21st.

Sindh govt’s decision to purchase luxury vehicles for ACs challenged

Karachi: The Sindh Government’s decision to purchase double cabin vehicles for assistant commissioners(ACs) has been challenged in the Sindh High Court.

Jamaat-e-Islami Member of Sindh Assembly Muhammad Farooq approached the Sindh High Court on the issue of purchase of double cabin vehicles for Assistant Commissioners and filed a petition through Usman Farooq Advocate.

Jamaat-e-Islami Member of Sindh Assembly Mohammad Farooq said that SGA & CD has written a letter for the release of funds for vehicles. Two billion rupees is being released for 138 double-cabin vehicles. This decision of Sindh government is unnecessary and misuse of treasury.

In the petition, it was said that despite the country’s economy being under severe pressure, luxury vehicles are being purchased for Sindh government officers.

The petitioner said that the money of the taxpayers of the province should be spent on the welfare, treatment and education of the people of the province. The vehicle purchase system is also not transparent.

Usman Farooq Advocate said that the notification issued by the Sindh government should be suspended and the purchase of vehicles should be stopped until the final decision and the fund should be ordered to be spent on public welfare projects.

Siraj ul Haq — former Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami — appeared on the BOL news show, Tajzia, with senior anchorperson Arbab Jahangir.

The former Emir of Jamaat claimed that the protest had been paused, not concluded.

While on Tajzia, he shed light on the obligation of the government and the condition of the public, saying that the government must solve the issues of the public.

Sirah ul Haq also mentioned the steep electricity bills, revealing that even likes of him have trouble paying the bills.

He also proclaimed that protest would proceed if the concerns are not addressed.

He urged the government to reconsider the treaties signed with the IPPs.

Considering the situation of the nation, he added that the tolerance of the public has reached its limits. Jamaat gave 45 days to the government.

Lahore: Jamaat-e-Islami Chief — Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman — while addressing the media in Lahore, highlighted the way he perceived the unjust acquisition of power.

He said that the younger generation constitutes a large portion of the population. While urging the youth to stay hopeful, he invited them towards his movement. He also brought to attention the work done for women by Jamaat.

He added that the ones in power have pushed the nation’s youth towards despair.

He further spoke against the IIPs imposed by other parties and their connection to corruption.

While advocating political resistance, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman clarified that it does not equate to ill-speech, violence, or hatred, rather it is meant to be a peaceful, constitutional struggle.

He then spoke about the attitude of PML-N, PP and PTI towards IPPs.

Shedding light on the factors spreading hopelessness in youth, he mentioned the main cause as a lack of education and employment opportunities.

Also, he talked about the insecurity brought about by the IMF loans. Underlining the abundance of national resources, he went on to highlight the self-sufficiency of Pakistan.

KARACHI: Sindh High Court(SHC) has ordered to give immediate budget and financial powers to towns and Union Councils (UCs).

Acting Chief Justice of Sindh High Court Aqeel Abbasi heard the petition of Jamaat-e-Islami regarding the empowerment of local bodies, in which the court ordered to give immediate budget and financial powers to towns and UCs.

The court asked which elections were left and why is this process not being completed.

The court said that according to the Local Government Act, towns and UCs should be given immediate financial powers, and the process of assigning responsibilities to UCs employees should also be completed immediately.

Later, the court disposed of the petition of Jamaat-e-Islami’s Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman and others.

LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami(JI)  has decided to approach the Supreme Court on the issue of delay in the general election.

Jamaat-e-Islami Deputy Ameer Liaquat Baloch and former MNA Abdul Akbar Chitrali have prepared an petition, through Justice (Retd) Ghulam Mohiuddin. The petition will be filed in the Supreme Court next week.

In the petition prepared by Jamaat-e-Islami, the position has been taken that the delay in the general elections by the caretaker federal government is a violation of Article 224 of the Constitution. It is clear, but the election is being delayed on the basis of the meeting between the representatives of the Council of Common Interests(CCI) and the caretaker Chief Ministers.

In the petition, the position has been taken that in the meeting of the Council of Common Interests(CCI), the two Chief Ministers have completed their first term of the caretaker government, now the status of these governments is illegal and unconstitutional.

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced a verdict in the alleged rigging case and ordered the recounting of the votes in six Union Councils (UCs) of Karachi.

Jamaat-e-Islami filed a petition against the alleged rigging and irregularities in Sindh Local government (LG) elections. Following the plea, the ECP directed the recounting of votes in six Union Councils (UCs).

JI had challenged the result of six UCs which include Mominabad UC-3, Manghopir UC-12, Gulshan-e-Iqbal UC-1, Orangi UC-3, 7 and 8.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Sindh High Court(SHC) served notices to parties over a petition of Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman for election in the remaining 11 union committees of Karachi.

Jamaat Islami Karachi’s chief Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman had filed a plea in the high court seeking an order for election in the remaining union committees of the city.

The court has summoned a reply from the respondents within 10 days.

Hafiz Naeem said that local council elections were not held at 11 seats of UC chairman and vice chairman in Karachi owing to the demise of candidates or for some other reasons.

KARACHI: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced the final results of 215 union committees (UCs) of Karachi where local body elections were held on January 15.

However, the results of 20 Union Committees (UCs) have been withheld due to complaints and recounting requests.

According to the final results, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) won 84 UCs, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) 82 while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) bagged 40.

Similarly, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) won five UCs, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) three and independent candidate one .

According to the ECP, there are 246 UCs in Karachi, however, election was held in 235 UCs due to the death of 11 candidates.

The ECP is yet to hold polling on the remaining 11 union councils in Karachi to complete the electoral process.
