JI central council rejects Sirajul Haq’s resignation

The central council of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Saturday has rejected the resignation of JI chief Sirajul Haq, Bol News reported.

Spokesperson JI Qaisar Sharif said that Central Majlis Shura expressed full confidence in JI Amir Sirajul Haq and said that the Jamaat Amir will continue his duties according to the constitution.

Furthermore, the Majlis Shura meeting has also started under the chairmanship of JI leader Sirajul Haq and he will also address it.

Qaiser Sharif added that the failure in the elections was not due to Amir JI but due to rigging, JI completely rejects the election results and demands the immediate resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).

Earlier, Following disappointing results in the February 8 general elections, both the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) and the JI have faced setbacks, leading to resignations from their respective party offices.

Jahangir Tareen, the Patron-in-Chief of IPP, and Sirajul Haq, the Emir of JI, have announced their resignations on Monday in response to their parties’ poor electoral performance.

Jahangir Tareen, once a close aide of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, expressed gratitude to his supporters and opponents alike in a post on his official platform.

Tareen expressed his intentions to continue serving the country in a private capacity and wished his party members the best.

Similarly, Sirajul Haq, the chief of JI, tendered his resignation due to the party’s failure to achieve the targeted electoral results. The JI spokesperson confirmed Sirajul Haq’s resignation.

These resignations reflect the political consequences of the recent elections and suggest a reevaluation within these political parties as they navigate their future paths.
