KARACHI: Sindh High Court(SHC) has ordered to give immediate budget and financial powers to towns and Union Councils (UCs).
Acting Chief Justice of Sindh High Court Aqeel Abbasi heard the petition of Jamaat-e-Islami regarding the empowerment of local bodies, in which the court ordered to give immediate budget and financial powers to towns and UCs.
The court asked which elections were left and why is this process not being completed.
The court said that according to the Local Government Act, towns and UCs should be given immediate financial powers, and the process of assigning responsibilities to UCs employees should also be completed immediately.
Later, the court disposed of the petition of Jamaat-e-Islami’s Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman and others.

Earlier, Jamaat-e-Islami Amir, Siraj ul Haq, has embarked on a four-day visit to Iran.
During his visit, Siraj ul Haq is scheduled to meet with both political and religious leaders in Iran.
The primary focus of his discussions with Iranian leaders will be the Palestine issue.
JI Amir will also participate in events and deliver speeches related to the unity of the Ummah.
