ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has contacted Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI)  leader Assad Qaisar, inviting him to participate negotiation.

Speaker Ayaz Sadiq made another attempt for continuation of negotiation between government and PTI, talking to PTI leader Asad Qaiser over the telephone and invited him to attend the meeting of the negotiating committee, but PTI gave any concrete assurance to attend the talks.

Earlier, Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar Khan announced the speaker not to attend the talks.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League -Nawaz(PML-N) leader Senator Irfan Siddiqui says that if PTI does not become part of the meeting today. The speaker will dissolve the committee and the government will respond to what the PTI will do.

It is to be noted that the PTI has announced to end the talks with the government and the Speaker’s Secretary has also informed about his decision.

PTI demands two separate commissions to probe May 9, Nov 26 events

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has presented charter of  demands to Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in written, seeking constitution of two separte commissions to investigate May 9 and November 26, 2024 violent events.

The PTI will also warn to end negotiations if government fails to constitute separate commissions on the events.

The third round of negotiations between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s negotiating committees has begun.

The third round of negotiations between the government and PTI’s negotiation committees is ongoing in Parliament House under the supervision of Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, PM’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah, Senator Irfan Siddiqui, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Naveed Qamar and Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar are representing the government.

NA Opposition Leader Omar Ayub, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, former NA speaker Asad Qaiser, party’s Secretary-General Salman Akram Raja, Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) Chairman Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, and Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) chief Sahibzada Hamid Raza are representing the PTI.

Second round of PTI-govt dialogue to be held today

ISLAMABAD: The second round of talks between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf(PTI) will be held today(Thursday).

A closed-door meeting chaired by Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq will be held at Parliament House at 3:30 pm today.

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur will also join today’s talks, Tehreek-e-Insaf will present its charter of demand.

According to sources, PTI will raise the issue of the release of the founding chairman and the release of other prisoners.

Sources say that PTI will demand a judicial commission to investigate the incidents of May 9 and November 26.

On the other hand, the government will implement its plan in the light of the Charter of Demand.

NA speaker sends five names for Judicial Commission

ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has nominated four parliamentarians from upper and lower houses for Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP).

The Speaker has written a letter to the Supreme Judicial Commission(SJC) on the issue of forming the Judicial Commission for the appointment of judges in the Supreme Court, in which the nomination of the parliamentary parties has been informed.

According to the National Assembly Secretariat, opposition leader Omar Ayub and Sheikh Aftab of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have been nominated for the Judicial Commission.

It has been informed by the National Assembly Secretariat that Farooq H. Naek and Shibli Faraz have been nominated for the Judicial Commission from the Senate, while Roshan Khursheed Bharucha has been nominated for the woman’s seat.

The JCP will appoint judges to the Supreme Court, High Courts, and Federal Shariat Court. It will also oversee the performance of High Court judges and prepare their annual performance evaluations.

According to the spokesperson of the National Assembly, after the approval of the 26th amendment, the Judicial Commission includes five members of Parliament and all the nominations have been sent to the Secretary Judicial Commission while all the nominations have been received by the Supreme Court.

The spokesperson said that there is equal representation of the government and the opposition in the names sent from the parliament.

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly (NA) Speaker, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq warmly welcomed renowned Islamic scholar Dr Zakir Naik at the Parliament House and discussed significant issues including the challenges faced by the Muslim Ummah and the promotion of interfaith harmony.

Dr. Zakir Naik appreciated the love and hospitality shown by the people of Pakistan, remarking, “The people of Pakistan are truly loving and welcoming.”

Addressing the gathering, he emphasized the need for unity among the Muslim Ummah, urging Muslims to set aside their differences and unite under the guidance of the Holy Quran and Sunnah. He reiterated that Islam is a complete code of life, advocating for peace, tolerance, and love.

ISLAMABAD:  Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq suspended opposition Member National Assembly (MNA) Muhammad Sanaullah Khan Mastikhel  the current session for his inappropriate words about Defence Minister Khawaja Asif.

In the meeting of the National Assembly, Sanaullah Khan Mastikhel addressed Khawaja Asif and uttered inappropriate words. There was an uproar in the House and members of the government protested.

The Deputy Speaker expunged  Sanaullah Khan Mastikhel ‘s unparliamentary language and gave a ruling that he should not speak in such a way that he has to shut down his speaker.

Sanaullah Khan Mastikhel said that when Khawaja Asif speaks here, we feel like crying and you (Khawaja Asif) have been coming to the House with money from agencies.

Later, the women lawmakers of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) protested against Sanaullah Khan Mastikhel in the speaker’s chamber and demanded that Sanaullah Khan Mastikhel be suspended for the entire session.

The Speaker National Assembly moved the motion for the suspension of Sanaullah Khan Mastikhel for session  and said that he has no words to condemn this incident.

ISLAMABAD: The National Apex Committee meeting will be held today under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.

The meeting of the Apex Committee will be held in Peshawar today, in which measures will be taken to eliminate terrorism and upgrade the Anti-Terrorism Department and Police in the context of the recent incident of terrorism in the provincial capital.

The meeting of the committee to be held at Governor House Peshawar will be attended by federal ministers, chief ministers of four provinces & Gilgit-Baltistan, the prime minister of Azad Kashmir, security forces, police officials, and senior government officials.

Apart from this, the Prime Minister has also invited two representatives of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI) to the meeting of the Apex Committee and in this regard, the invitation letter has been sent through Federal Minister Ayaz Sadiq.

The minister requested the PTI leaders to inform about the two representatives nominated by the party for the Apex Committee meeting.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has convened an “all parties” conference on February 7 to cope with the challenges faced by the country.

Shehbaz has invited his nemesis and Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan as well in the meeting to discuss the national issues.

KARACHI: Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah will meet with Mutahidda Qoumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) leadership on Tuesday to deliver Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s special message at the MQM Bahadurabad office.

Following the MQM-P about missing party workers, a PML-N delegation will visit the MQM-P office in Bahadurabad to appease the ally in the center. Rana Sanaullah, Ayaz Sadiq, and the party’s local leadership will be among the PML-N group.

According to sources, the interior minister will also meet with the families of the missing people to discuss what steps the federal government has taken to investigate the killings.

The MQM-P leaders want to ask the interior minister about the federal government’s progress in discovering the killers of the missing workers during the meeting. The MQM-P would also examine other issues, including the city’s law and order condition.

Last week, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui threatened to leave the government coalition in the center over the problem of missing party workers.
