More rain windstorm showers likely at various parts of country

Isolated rains and heavy falls predicted in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain-windstorm/thundershower is expected in Punjab, Islamabad, Pothohar region, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, northeast/south Balochistan and southeast Sindh during the next 24 hours.

Isolated heavyfall is also expected at a few places in northeast Punjab, Kashmir and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the forecast period.

As per synoptic situation, monsoon currents from Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal were penetrating upper/central parts of the country. A trough of westerly wave was also affecting upper/central parts of the country.

The PMD has warned that heavyfalls may generate flash flooding in local nullahs/streams of Murree, Galiyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Malakand, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Kurrum, Orakzai, Khyber, Mohmand, Nowshera, Swabi, Kashmir, Deira Ghazi Khan, Musa Khel, Barkhan, Kohlu and Loralai.

Urban flooding is also expected in low lying areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa till July 24. Landslides may disrupt roads at the vulnerable hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the wet period.

During the last 24 hours, hot and humid weather prevailed over most parts of the country.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain across the country from June 26 till July 01 which may cause urban flooding in the vulnerable areas and disrupt daily routines.

The monsoon currents from Arabian sea and Bay of Bengal are likely to penetrate eastern parts of the country from June 26 and a low pressure was also lying over south of Indian Gujrat.

In Sindh, rain wind/thundershower with isolated heavyfall is expected in Mithi, Umarkot, Mirpur Khas, Sanghar, Tando Allahyar, Badin, Thatta, Karachi, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Shaheed Benazirabad, Nausheroferoze, Khairpur, Dadu, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore and Larkana from June 26 to July 01 with occasional gaps.

Rain wind/thundershower with isolated heavyfall/hailstorm is expected in  Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Okara, Kasur, Khushab, Sargodha, Bhakkar and Mianwali from June 27 to July 01 with occasional gaps.

Rain/thundershower is expected in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Rahimyar Khan and Layyah from June 26-30.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, rain wind/thunderstorm is expected in Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar while in Kashmir, rain wind/thunderstorm is likely in Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur from June 28 to July 01 with occasional gaps. Few heavy falls are also likely in Kashmir during the period.

In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, rain wind/thundershower with isolated heavyfall expected in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Hangu and Kurram from June 28 to July 01 with occasional gaps.

In Balochistan, rain wind/thundershower is expected in Lasbella, Khuzdar, Awaran, Jhal Magsi, Kalat, Naseerabad, Jaffarabad, Dera Bugti, Kohlu, Zhob and Barkhan from June 26-28.

Duststorm/windstorm and lightning may affect daily routines, loose structures like electric poles, vehicles and solar panels etc during the period.

ISLAMABAD:  Torrential rainfall and heavy snowfall, expected in most parts of the country from February 29 to March 2 and might generate flash floods and disrupt daily life in the vulnerable areas, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said on Wednesday Torrential rainfall and heavy snowfall with windstorm, thunderstorms and isolated hailstorm was expected in most parts of the country during the period.

The torrential rain and heavy snowfall may cause landslides in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan and affect the vulnerable points in the area. Wind-thunderstorm and hailstorm may damage loose structures like electric poles, vehicles and solar panels etc.

The PMD has advised the tourists not to travel unnecessarily and farmers to remain cautious about their crops during the period. While all concerned authorities have been advised to remain alert and take necessary measures to avoid any untoward situation during the forecast period. A strong westerly wave was likely to approach western parts on February 29 and may grip most parts of the country on March 1 and persist till March 2.

Under the influence of this weather system, widespread heavy rain with windstorm and thunderstorm (snowfall over the hills) is expected in Balochistan from February 29 to March 1.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, heavy to extremely heavy widespread rain with windstorm and thunderstorm with heavy snowfall over the hills is expected in from February 29 to March 03. Isolated hailstorm is also likely during the period.

In Gilgit-Baltistan/Kashmir, heavy to extremely heavy widespread rain with windstorm, thunderstorm and snowfall is expected from February 29 to March 03.

Isolated hailstorm is also likely during the period. In Punjab and Islamabad, widespread heavy rain with windstorm and thunderstorm is expected in on March 1 and 2.

Rain-wind and thunderstorm is expected in Multan, Kot Addu, Layyah, Rajanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, Khanpur, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar from February 29 to March 2.
