Skincare tips by make-up artist to get flawless makeup look

Skincare
  • A good skincare routine is where it all begins.
  • Taking care of your skin before applying makeup is essential.
  • Celebrity make-up artist Aafreen Petiwala discussed the significance of skincare.

Want to look immaculate in your makeup? A good skincare routine is where it all begins! Although cosmetics can help bring out your inherent beauty, having a healthy base is essential. For this reason, taking care of your skin before applying makeup is essential to getting a flawless, enduring, and radiant result. Nowadays, when Instagram filters and cosmetic tips are king, it’s simple to forget the value of good skincare. Yet with the correct skincare regimen, you can get a gorgeous makeup look that feels as wonderful as it looks.

Celebrity make-up artist Aafreen Petiwala discussed the significance of skincare in an interview with HT Lifestyle.

When discussing skincare, she outlined: “The most crucial skincare step before putting makeup is to thoroughly wash your face with a face wash, makeup remover, and wet wipes. If you have extremely oily skin, use a toner to balance the pH level of your skin, shut any open pores, and prevent sweating. Then, apply a moisturiser or other serum, allow it sink into your skin, and massage it in well to ensure that your face’s blood circulation improves. Even the appearance of your cosmetics is enhanced by doing this.”

She went on to say, “Since your eyes are the driest part of your face, use lots of eye cream. And we always end up using a lot of concealer there, which causes it to crack and look quite dry after wearing makeup. You don’t want it to appear that way. So liberally apply eye cream to their eyes. Then you can prepare your face by using a makeup fixer or any primer, pore-minimizing primer if you have open pores, and lots of lip balm. If you want to have lips that look plump, you can also use a lip injection or any lip plumper. These are the fundamental guidelines that you should follow before applying makeup.”

When discussing the drawbacks of long-term makeup use, Afreen claims: “Long-term makeup use would result in clogged pores or extremely dry or oily skin. Eye infections and prolonged, improperly removed eye makeup, particularly waterproof mascara, are all issues. Furthermore, allergic reactions are a possibility.”

Spanish authorities discover the first possible case of Marburg disease

  • Marburg disease has quarantined over 200 people in Equatorial Guinea.
  • There are no licensed vaccinations or antiviral medications to treat it.
  • The Marburg virus can have a death rate of up to 88%.

Spain has discovered its first probable case of Marburg disease, a fatal infectious disease that has quarantined over 200 people in Equatorial Guinea, according to health officials in the Spanish region of Valencia on Saturday.

A 34-year-old male who had just visited Equatorial Guinea has been relocated from a private hospital to an isolation unit at Valencia’s Hospital La Fe until tests are conducted, according to regional health authorities.

According to the World Health Organization, the Marburg virus can have a death rate of up to 88%. (WHO). There are no licensed vaccinations or antiviral medications to treat it.

On February 13, Equatorial Guinea isolated almost 200 people and limited movement in its Kie-Ntem district, where the hemorrhagic fever was initially detected.

According to the WHO, the small central African country has reported nine deaths and 16 suspected cases of the disease, with symptoms including fever, tiredness, blood-stained vomit, and diarrhea.

The WHO said that it was expanding its epidemiological surveillance in Equatorial Guinea.

Cameroonian officials discovered two potential cases of Marburg disease on February 13 in Olamze, a commune near the Equatorial Guinea border, according to the region’s public health delegate, Robert Mathurin Bidjang, on February 14.

Cameroon had restricted mobility along the border to attempt to avoid transmission.

El Salvador initiates transfers to a “mega prison” amid gang crackdown

El Salvador
  • Some 2,000 alleged gang members were transferred to the 40,000-person capacity prison.
  • More than 64,000 individuals have been apprehended in the anti-crime dragnet.
  • Human rights organizations claim that the strategy has harmed innocent people.

El Salvador‘s government transferred hundreds of suspected gang members to a newly opened “mega-prison” on Friday, the latest step in a contentious crackdown on crime that has caused the Central American country’s prison population to skyrocket.

“This will be their new home, where they won’t be able to do any more harm to the population,” President Nayib Bukele wrote on Twitter.

Some 2,000 alleged gang members were transferred to the 40,000-person capacity prison, which is considered the largest in the Americas, early Friday morning.

In a video shared by Bukele, convicts with white shorts and shaven heads are shown fleeing through the new prison into cells. There are numerous bear gang tattoos.

With a huge increase in homicides attributable to violent gangs, Bukele pushed his friends in El Salvador’s Congress to pass a state of exception last year, which has subsequently been renewed many times, suspending some constitutional rights.

More than 64,000 individuals have been apprehended in the anti-crime dragnet since then. Arrests can be done without a warrant, the government has access to private correspondence, and detainees no longer have the right to counsel.

Human rights organizations claim that the strategy has harmed innocent people, including at least dozens who have died in police detention.

Nonetheless, Bukele’s anti-gang campaign remains popular among Salvadorans, and the country’s security minister stated that it would continue until all criminals were apprehended.

Iran claims to have built a long-distance cruise missile

Iran
  • Iran has created a cruise missile with a range of 1,650 kilometers.
  • Amirali Hajizadeh vows to avenge the killing of a top Iranian commander by the US.
  • Iranian leaders have often promised to avenge Soleimani.

A top Revolutionary Guards commander revealed on Friday that Iran has created a cruise missile with a range of 1,650 kilometers (1,025 miles), raising Western concerns following Russia’s deployment of Iranian drones in the Ukrainian war.

Separately, Amirali Hajizadeh, the chief of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards aerospace unit, reiterated Iran’s oft-repeated vow to avenge the killing of a top Iranian commander by the US, stating, “We are looking to kill (former US President Donald) Trump.”

“Our cruise missile with a range of 1,650 km has been added to the missile arsenal of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Hajizadeh, told Iran’s state TV.

The television station aired what it claimed was the first footage of the new Paveh cruise missile.

Poor soldiers

Hajizadeh claimed that Iran did not mean to harm “poor soldiers” when it conducted a ballistic missile attack on US-led forces in Iraq just days after Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani was killed in a US drone strike in Baghdad in 2020.

“God willing, we are looking to kill Trump. (Former Secretary of State Mike) Pompeo … and military commanders who issued the order (to kill Soleimani) should be killed,” Hajizadeh said in the television interview.

Iranian leaders have often promised to avenge Soleimani.

Iran has increased its missile program, particularly its ballistic missile program, in defiance of US resistance and European countries’ concerns. Tehran claims the program is solely defensive and deterrent in nature.

Iran has stated that it supplied Moscow with drones before to the Ukraine conflict. Russia has targeted power plants and civilian infrastructure with drones.

The Military stated in November that it was skeptical of claims quoting Hajizadeh as suggesting Iran has produced a hypersonic ballistic missile.

IMF flags debt restructuring hurdles, says banning crypto should be an option

IMF
  • India’s G20 presidency comes at a time when its South Asian neighbors are in desperate need of IMF assistance.
  • China encouraged G20 nations to conduct a fair, impartial, and in-depth investigation of the causes of global debt crises.
  • Regulating cryptocurrencies is a priority area for India.

BENGALURU: There are some debates over restructuring debt for fragile economies, said the head of the International Monetary Fund on the sidelines of a G20 meeting on Saturday, adding that prohibiting private cryptocurrencies should be an option.

India‘s G20 presidency comes at a time when it’s South Asian neighbors, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Pakistan, are in desperate need of IMF assistance due to an economic downturn induced by the COVID-19 outbreak and the Russia-Ukraine war.

On Friday, China, the world’s largest bilateral creditor, encouraged G20 nations to conduct a fair, impartial, and in-depth investigation of the causes of global debt crises, as pressure mounts on lenders to take a large haircut, or suffer losses, on loans.

“On debt restructuring, while there are still some disagreements, we now have the global sovereign debt roundtable with consideration of all public and private creditors,” IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva told reporters after the roundtable she co-chaired with Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

“We just finished a session in which it was clear that there is a commitment to bridging differences for the benefit of countries.”

Apart from restructuring debt, regulating cryptocurrencies is another priority area for India, which Georgieva agreed with.

“We have to differentiate between central bank digital currencies that are backed by the state and stablecoins, and crypto assets that are privately issued,” Georgieva said.

“There has to be a very strong push for regulation… if regulation fails, if you’re slow to do it, then we should not take off the table banning those assets, because they may create financial stability risk.”

Naseeruddin Shah thinks that Hindi film enjoys making fun of other people’s suffering

Naseeruddin Shah
  • Naseeruddin Shah argued that Hindi cinema has been using stereotypes to portray communities and make fun of others.
  • When it comes to laughing at ourselves, people get sensitive.
  • Twitter users agreed with his assessment.

Naseeruddin Shah expressed his thoughts on how stereotypes have been employed repeatedly in Hindi film to depict communities and mock others. The seasoned actor believed that while movies have encouraged people to mock groups like the Sikhs or the Parsis, people become sensitive when it comes to laughing at ourselves. Together with his wife, actor Ratna Pathak Shah, he participated in a panel discussion at a cultural event in New Delhi in December where he discussed the generalization of humor.

Naseeruddin elaborated on how Hindi films have been following a pattern of stereotyping since the early days of cinema in a video of the actors speaking at the panel. He perceived little to no change since then. Many Twitter users concurred with the seasoned actor’s analysis. One admirer said, “Naseer ji described it very well! It is relevant to our culture, possibly to all of us…” One person remarked, “That is accurate, Sahi Hai na. The conversation at this session, where we were present, was entirely pragmatic and inward-looking.”

In December 2022, the actor and his wife went to the Jashn-e-Rekhta celebration. Naseeruddin had said, while speaking on a panel, “No society has been left unaffected by Hindi cinema; whose community have they spared? They are experts at using stereotypes. The Muslim was always the unselfish friend, who used to lose his life sparing the hero’s life at the last end. Sikhs, Parsis, and Christians were all made fun of. Yet he did frequently pass away.”

Ratna further mentioned how humor in Hindi movies is often created by using broad physical stereotypes like a big woman, a thin man, or a drunken man. She claimed that the only alternatives for humor in movies were those two.

Naseeruddin continued, “A national tradition is to laugh at the suffering of others. We lack the humor to make fun of ourselves. We feel horrible if someone makes fun of us. While making fun of others, we don’t hesitate. This has been purposefully and repeatedly endorsed in our films. Nobody claims that we are still producing the same films from a century ago despite the fact that we have been creating movies for a century. This history of making fun of various communities and doing various things dates back 100 years.”

Ratna, who most recently appeared in the Netflix series Trial By Fire, just made her Gujarati cinema debut with Kutch Express. In the upcoming episode of the Zee5 series Taj-Divided By Blood, Naseeruddin will play Emperor Akbar. He most recently appeared with actors Tabu, Arjun Kapoor, Radhika Madan, Konkona Sensharma, Kumud Mishra, and Shardul Bhardwaj in Aasmaan Bhardwaj’s directorial debut Kuttey.

Ukraine sees some validity in China’s peace plan

Ukraine
  • President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is willing to examine aspects of Beijing’s 12-point peace plan.
  • According to china, nuclear weapons must be avoided.
  • President Xi was expected to deliver a “peace speech” on Friday, but this did not happen.

On Friday, China called for a full cease-fire in Ukraine, and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy indicated he was willing to examine aspects of Beijing’s 12-point peace plan.

On the one-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Moscow’s ally China urged all parties to commit to a gradual de-escalation, warned against the use of nuclear weapons, and stated that war benefits no one.

The plan, outlined in a foreign ministry statement, was basically a reiteration of China’s position since Russia commenced its “special military operation” on February 24 of last year.

China has refrained from denouncing its partner Russia or referring to Moscow’s intervention in its neighbor as an “invasion”. It has also condemned Western sanctions on Russia.

“All parties must stay rational and exercise restraint, avoid fanning the flames and aggravating tensions, and prevent the crisis from deteriorating further or even spiraling out of control,” the ministry said in its paper.

Kyiv’s immediate reply was contemptuous, with a senior adviser to President Zelenskyy stating that any plan to end the war must include the departure of Russian soldiers to the lines that existed when the Soviet Union disintegrated in 1991.

In a news conference marking the first anniversary of the conflict, Zelenskyy, on the other hand, struck a more receptive tone.

Russia expressed appreciation for China’s initiative and stated that it was willing to achieve its objectives through political and diplomatic measures.

The plans, however, were met with skepticism by NATO.

“China doesn’t have much credibility because they have not been able to condemn the illegal invasion of Ukraine,” NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg told reporters in Tallinn.

NO NUCLEAR WAR

After severe battlefield defeats in the last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin has signaled his intention to escalate the confrontation, raising the specter of nuclear weapons.

Nuclear weapons, according to China, must be avoided.

“Nuclear weapons must not be used and nuclear wars must not be fought,” the foreign ministry said. “We oppose the development, and use of biological and chemical weapons by any country under any circumstances.”

Since the war began just weeks after Beijing and Russia pledged a “no limits” collaboration, President Xi Jinping has spoken with Putin on a regular basis but only once with his Ukrainian counterpart Zelenskyy. This week, China’s senior diplomat, Wang Yi, visited Moscow for discussions.

“It is urgent that a group of countries not involved in the conflict assume the responsibility of leading negotiations to reestablish peace,” Lula said on Twitter.

President Xi was expected to deliver a “peace speech” on Friday, but this did not happen.

Russia warns the West against threatening its troops in breakaway Moldovan province

Russia
  • Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine dismissed Moscow’s claim that Ukraine wanted to take over the region.
  • Russia warned the West, any measures threatening Russian peacekeepers in Moldova would be considered an attack on itself.
  • The warning comes amid growing fears of a Russian threat in Moldova.

Russia warned the West on Friday that any measures threatening Russian peacekeepers in Moldova’s breakaway Transdniestria region would be considered an attack on itself, only one day after accusing Ukraine of planning an invasion.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine dismissed Moscow’s claim that Ukraine wanted to take over the region, while Moldova repeated that the charges were false.

The warning comes amid growing fears of a Russian threat in Moldova, a small ex-Soviet republic bordering Ukraine. Its pro-European President Maia Sandu accused Moscow of staging a coup earlier this month.

Russia accused Kyiv on Thursday of plotting an invasion of Transdniestria, which borders Ukraine. The primarily Russian-speaking territory seceded from Moldova in 1990, a year before the Soviet Union collapsed.

“We warn the United States, NATO member states, and their Ukrainian wards against taking yet another reckless step,” Russia’s foreign ministry.

“Any action that threatens their security will be considered under international law as an attack on the Russian Federation.”

There are approximately 1,700 Russian troops in Transdniestria, which has a population of approximately 440,000 people.

Moldovan Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu said Russia’s “provocative” remarks regarding a potential Ukrainian strike were false.

“The Moldovan authorities have rejected these statements as unfounded, made to manipulate public opinion. The security situation in the region is stable,” he wrote on the Telegram messaging app on Friday.

Russia, Zelenskyy said at a press conference, was constantly provocative.

“They clearly understand that we respect the territorial integrity of Moldova and we believe the territory of Transdniestria is the territory of the independent state of Moldova,” he said.

Last week, Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine was not the only country on Moscow’s radar and that the Kremlin was considering measures to “strangle” Moldova.
