The fiancé of Hailie Jade Mathers Scott described the experience of approaching legendary artist Eminem for approval to marry his daughter, who he shares with his ex-wife Kim Scott.
After six years of dating, the 27-year-committed old’s partner Evan McClintock made the big proposal earlier this month.
In the most recent episode of his fiancée’s “Just a Little Shady” podcast, McClintock, 27, said, “Over the holidays, I was looking for an opportunity not to make it too obvious.”
McClintock acknowledged that he had been considering popping the question since last summer, but it wasn’t until February 4 that he really did it.
And he claimed that it was the ideal opportunity to sneak Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, away for a moment to ask him for his blessing because the rapper’s daughter’s birthday is on Christmas Day.

“I saw your dad go downstairs, and I’m like, ‘I gotta do it right now, or I’m not doing it today, and I’m gonna have to schedule another time,’” McClintock recalled.
“So I just followed him downstairs, and, thankfully, he was just down there getting your cake and I made it happen.”
Yet finding the ideal ring was a very different issue.
On Thanksgiving, McClintock started looking for the ideal diamond sparkler, but thanks to Hailie’s sister Alaina Marie Scott, he discovered the ideal ring.
“The day after my birthday, you got it? That’s crazy,” Hailie said, adding that she had “no idea” he was heading out to look at rings.
“It’s funny, so your sister really helped me out,” McClintock added. “She basically told me what for sure not to get.”
“That’s all I told her, so it makes sense,” she quipped.
In a romantic Instagram post, Hailie confirmed the couple’s engagement, writing, “casual weekend recap… 😭💗 2.4.23 💍,” as they popped champagne.
