Awn Chaudhry Resigns As An Advisor To Chief Minister Punjab

Awn Chaudhry resigns

Awn Chaudhry has on Friday submitted his resignation as an advisor to Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar over charges of lobbying against the incumbent PTI government.

According to the details, considered one of the closest friends of Prime Minister Imran Khan, Awn Chaudhry was asked to step down from his position in a meeting with CM Punjab over working against the party.

Chaudhry in his resignation stated that he worked with passion for the betterment of the party. He was summoned today by CM Usman Buzdar and was asked to leave the Jahangir Tareen group or to present his resignation as his advisor.

“Everyone knows about the sacrifices of Tareen for the party,” Awn Chaudhry said in his resignation.

He further said that he will stand firmly united with Jahangir Tareen and his group.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar has accepted the resignation of Awn Chaudhry, said official sources.

Awn Chaudhry was appointed as advisor to Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar back in August 2018.

It is to be noted that the pro-Jahangir Tareen group emerged after the case of money laundering was registered against Jahangir Tareen.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had lambasted the Jahangir Tareen group within the PTI, questioning their trust and loyalty towards the premier.

In his statement, the Foreign Minister called out the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers that are supporting Jahangir Tareen.

“[They say] we are with you [the PTI] and then they say that they are not with us. Then they say Imran Khan is their leader. If that is so, then why the contradiction?” he asked.

“Imran Khan has said he is not out to get revenge,” said FM Qureshi.

He said that the sugar mafia has been blackmailing this government, adding that they threaten of turning the “majority into a minority”.

“I tell Imran Khan to take a stand,” Shah Mahmood added.

Jahangir Tareen Rejects Reports About A ‘Separate Group’

PTI leader Jahangir Tareen had rejected all media reports on the formation of the ‘Jahangir Tareen Group’.

He said, “I reject these media reports and want to make it clear that we were, are and will remain part of PTI.”

“When my colleagues met Prime Minister Imran Khan, he was contented and nominated Ali Zafar to inquire into the matter,” he said.

He further said that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had handed over the documents to him on which the matter was raised, ie provided all the money trail.

He said that Ali Zafar’s report would come to light soon.

“When Prime Minister Imran Khan said that there would be no retaliation against Tareen and justice would be done, I had full faith in him,” he said.

Tareen added that Prime Minister Imran Khan is fulfilling the requirements of justice. He also reiterated that we are and will remain a part of PTI.

Also, he had blamed the media for making a huge deal about the news.

UAE: PIA To Set Up Mobile Testing Labs At Airports For Stranded Pakistanis

UAE PIA mobile testing labs

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has said that it will set up mobile testing facilities at airports amidst Pakistani expatriates’ denial to fly to the UAE due to the non-availability of Rapid Test facilities.

A regional manager for the UAE at PIA said the national carrier will set up mobile labs at the airports so that the UAE-bound passengers can take rapid tests before boarding flights.

PIA currently runs international flights to UAE from Peshawar, Lahore, Islamabad, Sialkot, Multan and Karachi.

Earlier, the United Arab Emirates had announced the lifting of the ban on transit flights to several countries, including Pakistan.

In this regard, five vaccines have been approved for use in the UAE:

  •  Pfizer-BioNTech
  •  Sinopharm
  •  Oxford-AstraZeneca
  •  Moderna
  • Sputnik V

The UAE’s National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority had said that the ban on transit flights to several other countries, including Pakistan, India and Nigeria, would be lifted from August 5. However, thousands of travellers going abroad are stranded in Pakistan.

The UAE airport is considered a hub for international travellers. Due to the Coronavirus, the Gulf country banned flights from African countries, including South Asia. Dubai officials said on Tuesday that transit passengers from countries that were banned would now be able to use Dubai Airport.

However, all such passengers will have to show a negative PCR test, which was done better hours before departure.

All passengers arriving in the UAE will have to show their final destination ticket. Separate transit areas have been set aside for such passengers at UAE departure airports.
