PTI founder calls off talks with govt over failure to form judicial commission

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf(PTI) founder has called off the ongoing negotiations with the government due to its failure to form judicial commission.

Talking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said that the PTI founder Imran Khan announced to end the talks in jail today.

Barrister Gohar said that the government was supposed to establish the commission in 7 days, but so far the government has not formed the judicial commission to probe May 9 and November 26 events.

Chairman PTI said that today he and other lawyers had a meeting with founder PTI, founder PTI clarified that the commission has not been formed, so the negotiations are over. The PTI founder Imran Khan said there are no more rounds of negotiations.

Barrister Gohar said, “We had a great desire to continue the negotiations and move things forward, but unfortunately no any progress has been yet. It is a pity that no announcement has been made by the government till date”.

He said that if the commission is to be formed, the members should be from 3 senior judges of Supreme Court or High Court. He announced that PTI will continue our struggle according to the constitution and law.

Barrister Gohar said that PTI founder has said that we are not waiting for help from any foreign country, we will start joint struggle with all political parties.

Earlier, leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf and leader of the opposition in the National Assembly Umar Ayub also said that if the government does not announce the judicial commission, the negotiations will not proceed.

PTI challenges Practice and Procedure Ordinance in SC

ISLAMABAD:  Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) has challenged the Practice and Procedure Amendment Ordinance in the Supreme Court(SC).

Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar Khan has filed a constitutional petition in the Supreme Court against the Practice and Procedure Amendment Ordinance.

The petition has requested that the Practice and Procedure Presidential Ordinance be declared unconstitutional and all the decisions of the Practice Procedure Committee after the Ordinance be declared illegal and nullified.

The petition asked that the newly constituted Practice and Procedure Committee be stopped from functioning pending the pendency of the constitutional petition and that the old Practice and Procedure Committee be allowed to function pending the petition against the Ordinance.

In the petition filed by Barrister Gohar, the Federation, Ministry of Law and Secretary to the President of the State have been made parties.

It should be noted that a few days ago, after the approval of the Federal Cabinet, President Asif Zardari signed the Practice and Procedure Ordinance, after which it came into effect.

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sadaqat Abbasi has announced to quit politics and the party.

Sadaqat Abbasi said that the incident of May 9 was the result of the thinking of Chairman PTI  and the party’s narrative was that the competition is with the establishment.

He said that a meeting was held on May 7 which was held on the advice of Bushra Bibi(wife of chairman PTI), everyone used to give their advice in the meeting, the goals were fixed in the meeting on May 7 and it was decided in the meeting that if PTI Chairman is arrested then the party will have given full respond.

He said that after the arrest of the chairman PTI on May 9, the sub-leadership asked Liaquat Bagh to gather. The protesters first went to attack the Metro bus station where the police started shelling tear gas.

Sadaqat Abbasi said that Chairman PTI wanted a big reaction that would put the institution under pressure. Imran Khan’s narrative was of reconciliation after resistance, he did not want the current Chief of Army Staff(COAS) to become the army chief.

IHC fixes Chairman PTI’s plea for suspension of Toshakhana case

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court(IHC) has fixed the plea of the former Prime Minister and Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI) for a hearing on Monday to suspend the judgment in the Toshakhana case.

Chairman PTI’s miscellaneous petition was decided by the Registrar High Court with objections.

A two-member bench was constituted to hear the petition. Chief Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Babar Sattar are included in the bench.

The district branch of the Islamabad High Court has raised three objections how two types of pleas can be made in one petition, how relief can be sought again in the petition that has already been decided, and in the first petition for suspension of sentence. How can you ask for relief if you have not asked for it?

Chairman PTI has requested to suspend the decision of the Toshakhana case and to make the state a party in the appeal.

Earlier, the former prime minister approached the Islamabad High Court to suspend the disqualification order in the Toshakhana case.

In the petition filed on his behalf, it was contended that the Election Commission had issued a disqualification notification after the conviction in the case and declared him ineligible to contest the elections.

Special Court adjourns Cypher case hearing till October 9

ISLAMABAD: The Secret Act Court adjourned the hearing of the cypher case against Chairman Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI) and Shah Mahmood Qureshi till October 9.

The cypher leak case was heard for the first time in Central Jail Adiala. The Special Court Judge Abul Hasnat and judge Muhammad Zulqarnain heard the case.

Chairman PTI and Co-chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi were present in the courtroom, as soon as the hearing started, their lawyers filed a request to stop the trial.

Judge Abul Hasnat and Muhammad Zulqarnain remarked that there is no prohibition order of the High Court in this regard. The court rejected the request of the lawyers of the accused to stop the proceedings.

Later, the court adjourned the hearing without providing a copy of the case challan, the next hearing will be held on October 9.

Speaking to the media after the hearing, Chairman PTI’s lawyer Salman Safdar said that the official secret act is a very serious charge, the arrest and remand of Chairman PTI was kept secret in this case, and now the trial is also being kept secret.

PTI demands formation of judicial commission to probe Cypher case

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has demanded the formation of a judicial commission to investigate Cypher to fulfill the demands of justice.

PTI rejected the challan submitted by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in the cypher case. The spokesperson said that the challan submitted against Chairman PTI and Shah Mahmood Qureshi is as meaningless as the fake and bogus case of Cypher.

The spokesperson said that the fact that the cypher is still present in the Foreign Office in its original state, its presence proves the allegations leveled against the former prime minister to be baseless.

The PTI said the cypher was declassified by the federal cabinet under its own authority and the Official Secrets Act cannot be invoked as the case is a case to die for.

The spokesperson said that Chairman PTI repeatedly demanded an independent and impartial investigation of Cypher. The PTI chairman also sent letters to the Chief Justice of Pakistan and the President of the country, but no progress could be made. A judicial commission should be constituted.

Sher Zaman calls on the citizens of Karachi to be united to stand in solidarity with the Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, in light of recent events surrounding his detainment in Attock jail.

Concerns have been raised over the treatment he has received, with allegations of denial of fundamental rights and a lack of adherence to both jail regulations and constitutional provisions.

Court allows Chairman PTI’s arrest in Jinnah House attack case

LAHORE: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Lahore has allowed the arrest of the former Prime Minister and Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the Jinnah House (Crops Commander House Lahore) attack case.

The application was filed in the court by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Police Investigation.
In the petition, permission was sought to arrest the PTI chairman for investigation.

After hearing the application, the Anti-Terrorism Court allowed to arrest former prime minister.

It should be noted that Chairman PTI has been sentenced to three years imprisonment by the District and Sessions Court of Islamabad on August 5 in the Toshakhana criminal case.

He is also a named accused in the cases registered against the violent incidents of May 9.
