LAHORE: The capital of Punjab, Lahore has ranked second most polluted city in the world due to the poor air quality while provincial government has imposed green lockdown in different areas of the city.
The air quality of Lahore is still extremely harmful to health, due to which Lahore is the second most polluted city in the world, while the capital of India, New Delhi, is the first in terms of bad air quality.
The smog has also affected the nearby cities, including Kasur, Sheikhupura, Muridke and Gujranwala.
Due to the change in the speed and direction of the winds, there has been a slight reduction in pollution.
However, the Punjab government has decided to strictly continue the measures to prevent smog and reduce pollution regardless of the change in the direction of the winds.
It should be noted that a green lockdown has been implemented in Punjab to prevent smog, under which schools for special children have been directed to take classes online, while many offices have also been ordered to work from home.
A complete ban has been imposed on construction activities in the green lockdown areas, the plying of motor rickshaws has also been banned in these areas.
Earlier, Punjab government had issued an emergency alert for Lahore due to an alarming level of smog.
