FIA Immigration foils human trafficking bid at Karachi airport

KARACHI: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration has foiled an attempt of human trafficking at Jinnah International Airport Karachi and arrested four persons including a travel agent who was reportedly connected with an Indian agent in Azerbaijan.

In the statement issued by FIA, it was stated that the conspiracy to go to Europe illegally from Karachi Airport was exposed and 4 passengers including the agent were arrested.

The arrested accused are Haseeb Ahmed, Qaiser Ahmed, Usman Ali and agent Abdul Shakoor. The  accused belong to different areas of Faisalabad, Chiniot, Gujranwala and Nankana Sahib.

Human smuggler Abdul Shakoor made contracts of Rs 1.4 million per person in the name of sending other suspects to Poland. The accused also gave an advance of Rs 250,000 per person to the agent, the accused had to go to Poland from Azerbaijan illegally.

According to the preliminary investigation, important evidence has been recovered from the mobile phone of the human trafficker Abdul Shakur. The accused Abdul Shakoor was in contact with the Indian agent.

Six died, three others injured in tragic car accident in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: As many as six people were killed while three others sustained multiple injuries in a car accident in the area of city Tandlianwala police station on Saturday.

Rescue 1122 spokesman said that a speedy car hit a tractor trolley in its rear as the car driver could not assess distance due to heavy fog on Motorway Interchange Tandlianwala road  near Chak No.393-GB here on late Friday night.

As a result, six people including three women and three children received serious injuries and died on the spot whereas Rescue 1122 shifted three others victims to Allied Hospital-I in critical condition.

Police teams rushed to the spot, dispatched the bodies to mortuary of Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Tandlianwala, he added.

The bodies were also shifted to the mortuary for postmortem while the area police started investigation, he concluded.

According to the police spokesman, the accident took place in Tandlianwala area, where a car coming from Lahore, carrying children, women and a man, collided with a trolley loaded with sugarcane due to fog, resulting in the death of a woman, Rabia Bibi died along with her daughters 13-year-old Fajr, 11-year-old Amama, 6-year-old Yahya, one-year-old Musa and relative’s one-year-old Raees.

Punjab imposes ban on outdoor activities from Nov 11 to 17

LAHORE: Punjab Government has imposed ban on outdoor activities in four division of province from November 11 to November 17 due to the heavy smog.

According to the notification issued by the Punjab government, there will be a ban on outdoor activities in Lahore from November 11 to November 17. The ban will be applied to the districts of Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad and Gujranwala.

All kinds of outdoor sports, exhibitions and events will be banned during the relevant dates, outdoor dining of restaurants will also be banned, but religious gatherings will be exempted.

The notification states that shops, markets and shopping malls will close at 8 pm, but medical stores, laboratories, petrol pumps and grocery stores will be exempted. Only the grocery and medical sections of major department stores will remain open.

According to the notification, action will be taken under the Punjab Environmental Protection Act for violation, and punishment will be given under Section 188 for violation of the orders.

On the other hand, the Punjab government entrusted the responsibility of monitoring vehicles emitting smoke to the Punjab Safe City Authority.

The Secretary Transport and Mass Transit Punjab said that vehicles emitting smoke will be monitored with Safe City cameras, in this way every type of vehicle that pollutes the environment will be brought under the law.

Court awards double death sentence

190 million pounds case verdict to be announced on Jan 6

Faisalabad: The Additional Sessions Judge Faisalabad pronounced the verdict in the double murder case.

The case of double murder was heard in the court of Additional Sessions Judge of Faisalabad on Friday, in which the court pronounced the verdict of the case.

The court ordered death sentence twice for the murderer of wife and father-in-law.

The court also ordered to pay Rs 500,000 compensation to the heirs of the victims.

It should be noted that Usman, the criminal, shot and killed his wife and father-in-law in August 2022.

ATC approves interim bail of Gandapur in May 9 cases

Faisalabad: The Anti-Terrorism Court(ATC) has granted interim bail to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in the May 9 cases.

Chief Minister KP Ali Amin Gandapur appeared in Faisalabad’s Anti-Terrorism Court in connection with the hearing of cases on May 9. Strict security arrangements were made outside the court on this occasion.

The court granted interim bail to Ali Amin Gandapur in all four cases on May 9 and ordered him to appear before the court again on September 12.

Ali Amin Gandapur reached the court premises with his car and on his way back after the hearing left without stopping to the workers outside the court.

2 dead, 7 other injured in laptop battery explosion in Faisalabad

Faisalabad: At least two children died and 7 other were injured after a house in Faisalabad caught fire due to an explosion of a laptop battery.

The rescue officials said 9 people were suffered burn injures due to a fire in a house on Satyana Road in Mohalla Sharifpura. They were shifted to the hospital for treatment, where 2 siblings died of their injuries.

The injured include 5 children and 2 women who are under treatment in the hospital.

The rescue authorities, the fire in the house started due to the explosion of the battery of the laptop that was charging, the fire has been brought under control.

The fire incident is being further investigated.

On the other hand, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz expressed sorrow and grief over the death of children due to burns in Faisalabad and ordered the hospital administration to provide the best medical facilities to the injured ones.

Regional Police Officer(RPO) Dr Muhammad Abid Khan has ordered the senior superintendent of police to begin an investigation into the incident.

FESCO imposes Rs 389.4m fine electricity thieves

FAISALABAD: The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) imposed Rs. 389.4 million fine on 3,084 electricity thieves, caught during the last 43 days of anti-power-theft campaign in the region.

A spokesman Tahir Sheikh said that FESCO had launched a vigorous anti-theft drive on special direction of Minister of Energy (Power Division) and during 43 days of this campaign the anti-theft teams of the company caught 3084 power pilferers from its eight districts.

The company had imposed a total fine of Rs.389.4 million on the pilferers under the head of detection units of 8.533 million in addition to recovering Rs.209.6 million recovered from them.

FESCO had also got cases registered against 2959 accused whereas the police had arrested 2437 electricity thieves so far, he added.

Giving further details, he said that the FESCO teams continued checking of power pilferage round the clock and caught 39 electricity thieves during last 24 hours who were stealing electricity through various modes including direct supply.

The company had imposed a fine of more than Rs.5.516 million on these electricity thieves in respect of more than 139,000 detection units.

He said that in Faisalabad district, up till now, 1018 electricity thieves were caught and handed down with a fine of more than Rs.129 million under 2.773 million detection units.

He said that 305 electricity thieves were caught in Jhang district so far and fined more than 1125,000 detection units amounting to more than Rs.47.5 million.

Similarly, 321 electricity thieves were caught from Bhakkar and handed down with a fine of 827,000 detection units amounting to Rs.42.2 million.

In Chiniot district, 346 electricity thieves were handed down with more than 1054,000 detection units amounting to Rs.43.1 million.

Meanwhile, more than 331,000 detection units amounting to Rs.15.5 million was imposed on 96 electricity thieves caught from Khushab district.

In Mianwali district, 372 electricity thieves were caught and more than 837,000 detection units amounting to Rs.38.4 million were imposed on them as fine.

In Sargodha district, 346 electricity thieves were caught and fined with more than 844,000 detection units amounting to more than Rs.37.4 million.
