ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has urged the nation to strive day and night to accomplish Dr Allama Iqbal’s conceived Pakistan and reposed his full confidence in the capabilities of the nation, especially the young people who he said would come to the expectations of Iqbal.

He said Iqbal had dreamt of a country ‘Pakistan which should be based upon peace, political tolerance and brotherhood’, adding the youth of Pakistan have to play their pivotal role by serving the nation and the country with their positive and progressive thoughts.

In Iqbal’s Pakistan, the institutions should be strengthened, people should be self conscious and economy be stabilized, so that the country could be free from the chains of foreign debts, he added.

In a message on Dr Allama Iqbal’s 146th birthday being observed, the prime minister said that he along with the entire nation were celebrating his birthday with great honour and admiration.

He said Dr Allama Iqbal had made the youth of the sub-continent aware of the lost heritage of unprecedented sacrifices of their ancestors, their contributions in every field of life, their prestige, progressiveness and thinking.

The prime minister said that Allama Iqbal had guided the youth with the messages of hope, self-confidence, bravery and leading lives of dervish.

By acquainting them with the brilliant past of the Muslims, Iqbal encouraged and advised the youth of the sub-continent to move forward by getting knowledge and doing research and innovation and by undergoing stages of individual and social evolution and in this way, infused new zeal and fervor among them to explore the world, a press release of PM Office Media Wing quoted the prime minister as saying.

The caretaker prime minister further said that Allama Iqbal through his philosophy taught the humanity a unique panacea of self introspection to succeed in the world and in the after-world, without being influenced by the worldly powers and earthly attractions.

It were due to Iqbal’s everlasting teachings that the universities across the region and the globe were still imparting them and continuing research on his philosophy and poetry, he added.

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi said Pakistan could be put on the path of development and prosperity by promoting the rule of law, democracy, provision of basic human rights, eradication of social injustices and poverty.

Addressing a flag-hoisting ceremony held here in connection with the 76th independence day of Pakistan, the president expressed the hope that Pakistan would soon become a prosperous and developed country by following all the basic rules and guidance given by the founder of Pakistan Quid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

He said Quid-i-Azam always discouraged nepotism and voiced for the promotion of merit, unity, socio-economic justice, and poverty alleviation.

He said Pakistan got independence in 1947 because of the long struggle of Quid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and other founding leaders, and the sacrifices of hundreds of thousands of people.

He said the country’s armed forces, police and the public were still sacrificing their lives for the country’s security as over 100,000 people had rendered their lives in the war against terrorism.

He said the aim of Pakistan’s independence was the establishment of an independent state for the Muslims of the subcontinent to live their lives according to Islamic principles.

The president paid the heartiest tributes to the founders of Pakistan who struggled for independence of Pakistan and the hundreds of thousands of people who embraced martyrdom for Pakistan.

President Alvi stressed the elite of the country to take responsibility for poverty alleviation and promotion of education and health, which he said were inter-connected with each other.

He said currently 27 million children were out of school across the country and needed to enrol in schools.

He stressed that every child should be enrolled in school which could only be possible through resources.

He quoted Allama Iqbal as saying that without women’s participation; no nation could develop and prosper. Therefore, he called upon the women folk of the country to work for the development of the country by actively participating in all areas.

The president also expressed solidarity with the people of occupied Kashmir. He hoped that by the will of God, soon Kashmir would become part of Pakistan.

Pakistan Day is being commemorated with immense passion and zeal throughout the nation today (Thursday).

The day-long celebrations began with special prayers for the unity, progress, and prosperity of Pakistan and the Islamic world, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the mausoleum of the great poet and philosopher Allama Iqbal.

Pakistan Day is being celebrated with traditional enthusiasm at all bases and installations of the Pakistan Air Force. A large number of people from different walks of life participated in the event. The day-long celebrations began after the Fajr prayer.

The Pakistan Air Force contingent took over the duties of the honorary guards and also offered a salute at Allama Iqbal’s Mausoleum, while a special prayer was offered for the safety of the nation. Making it a memorable and noteworthy event.

Air Marshal Syed Imran Majid Ali, Air Officer Commanding PAF Airmen Academy Korangi Creek graced the event as the chief guest and laid a flower wreath at Allama Iqbal’s Mausoleum before entering his comments in the guest book.

The ceremony was attended by a large number of people from different walks of life, making it a remarkable and memorable day in the history of Pakistan.

In celebration of the adoption of the Pakistan Resolution by the All India Muslim League in 1940 at Lahore’s Minto Park (now Iqbal Park). The resolution was a culmination of the arduous struggle by the Muslims of the subcontinent for their liberation from British colonial rule, demanding a separate homeland for Muslims in the subcontinent.

The Lahore Resolution was a pivotal moment in the history of the subcontinent, and it took about seven years after the Pakistan Resolution to give the final form to the new state of Pakistan. Historians have described this occasion as a unique and unparalleled event in the history of the contemporary world.
