Health Department issues flu virus advisory for citizens of Karachi

KARACHI: The Sindh Health Department has issued an advisory on the increasing flu virus in Karachi.

According to the Department of Health, people are suffering from colds, coughs, and fever due to the new influenza virus. Pregnant women, children, and people over 65 years of age can be more affected by the virus.

The health department has instructed the hospitals to keep the infected patients in isolation.

The Sindh Health Department appealed to the public to cover their nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing and wash their hands thoroughly with antibacterial soap or hand wash.

The health department said not to touch the eyes, nose, and mouth, eat nutritious food, get adequate sleep, and stay physically active.

The Health Department directed that people suffering from flu should stay at home for at least 24 hours until the fever subsides while maintaining good ventilation systems in closed spaces.

RAWALPINDI: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) arrested three drug peddlers and recovered 108 kg drugs from their possession in five different raids.

ANF Headquarters spokesman informed that 24.8 kg hashish was recovered from an accused, resident of Kohat arrested on Super Highway Karachi. On the pointation of the accused, a co-accused, resident of Karachi was also arrested.

In another operation at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi Courier Office, ANF recovered 180 grams Ice drug from a parcel booked for Dubai. 30 kg hashish concealed in doors of a vehicle was recovered on Sibi Road Quetta. During the operation, an accused, resident of Naseerabad was arrested.

Drugs concealed for the purpose of smuggling were recovered in Chagai and Kach districts. 25 kg hashish, 8 kg heroin, 1 kg opium, 30 grams ice drug and 20 kg prohibited materials were recovered.

Sources say that many domestic and international flights of PIA have been canceled and delayed due to the non-availability of fuel.

According to sources, 20 PIA flights from Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad have been canceled while PIA flight PK 215 from Karachi to Dubai has been delayed.

Sources say that Karachi to Lahore flight PK 306, Karachi to Peshawar flight PK 350, Karachi to Gwadar, and Karachi to Islamabad flight PK 370 are also canceled.

LAHORE: Amid restricted visibility in the morning owing to foggy conditions, Lahore ranked first among the most polluted cities in the world on the Air Quality Index (AQI), according to a report on Friday.

According to the air quality index, Lahore ranks first among the most polluted cities and its air quality has been recorded at 305 in the air quality index.

According to the air quality index, Karachi was ranked 9th among the most polluted cities where the air quality index was recorded at 117. Karachi’s air quality is also poor and has been declared hazardous for sensitive people.

Dubai became the second most polluted city in the world, where the air quality was recorded at 166 on the Air Quality Index.

According to the Air Quality Index, pollution from 151 to 200 levels is harmful to health, pollution from 201 to 300 levels is extremely harmful to health and more than 301 level indicates hazardous pollution.
