Tik Tokers entry will be banned in all parks of Punjab

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed the Federal Cabinet to take up the issue of ban on tik tokers.

The decision to ban the entry of tik tokers in all the parks of Punjab, including family parks, also students in school and college uniforms will not be allowed to enter the parks.

According to details, after the incidents of harassment of women in various public parks of Lahore came to light on August 14, the Punjab government has decided to ban the entry of tik tokers in all the parks of the province.

As per the media reports, under the ban, YouTubers and tik tokers will not be able to come to the parks and make any kind of videos, only national media will be allowed to make videos in public parks.

It was further stated that prior permission has to be obtained for making videos for social media, security personnel stationed in the parks will keep an eye on tik tokers and YouTubers.

In addition to the ban, tik tokers are to protect women in parks, it has been decided to take further steps. The Punjab government has also decided to ban men from entering all major parks without their families, while students in school and college uniforms will not be allowed to enter the parks. It has been informed that all these decisions will be implemented only after the final approval of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar.

On the other hand, the High Court was directed to take up the matter of ban on tik tokers before the federal cabinet. The apex court questioned the PTA’s counsel as to whether tik tok was currently open or closed across the country, to which the PTA’s counsel said that about 99 per cent tik tok was open in the country through proxy.

The court questioned PTA’s lawyer that if you can’t beat technology then why are you doing this, why social media apps are not banned in the outside world, there is also strict law, why PTA He wants to cut this country off from the world.

The court asked the PTA to take a policy from the government. Has the government given any policy? They said PTA should take instructions from the federal cabinet.

TikTok Releases Statement After The Ban On The App Uplifted In Pakistan

Pakistani TikTokers are happy as the ban on the app has been uplifted across the country today (1st April 2021).

The ByteDance owned app released a statement in which it said,

“We are happy to revive the TikTok app in Pakistan. The restoration of TikTok is a testament to TikTok’s commitment to promoting a safe and positive online community.”

The video-sharing app further said in a statement that,

“TikTok has provided a platform for talented Pakistani creators. TikTok administration is committed to ensuring all steps are taken through meaningful dialogue and cooperation with the PTA.”

“TikTok PTA is hopeful for further investment in Pakistan by providing a stable environment. TikTok is committed to keeping important economic opportunities open for Pakistani creators.”

On the other hand, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said in a tweet,

“In pursuance to the orders of the Peshawar High Court, PTA has issued directions to the service providers to unblock access to the TikTok App.”

However, the TikTok App management has been told to ensure that vulgar and objectionable content are to be made inaccessible in accordance with the PECA provisions and directions of the Honorable Court.
