Chinese Govt announces scholarships for Pakistani students

ISLAMABAD: Chinese government has announced scholarships programme 2025-26 for the AJK, Pakistani students to peruse their studies and conduct research in Chinese Universities.

According to Higher Education Commission (HEC) the deadline to Submit Online Application is Monday 09, December 2024. Only those applicants are considered under Chinese Government Scholarship Program 2025-26 who have already obtained a valid HAT (score obtained on or after December 09, 2022 is valid) or USAT score (score obtained on or after December 09, 2023 is valid). Applicants must submit a valid score on HEC portal during application submission for consideration.

To submit online application on China Scholarship Council’s portal under category A (agency No. 5861), please visit Campuschina.org or https://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua .

With a view to enhance educational cooperation between China and Pakistan, the Chinese Scholarship Council, Government of China is offering Pakistani students/scholars to study and conduct research in Chinese Universities.

On behalf of the Government of Pakistan, HEC is nominating agency for these scholarships in the academic year 2025-26.Pakistan’s cuisine

China Scholarship Council (CSC), entrusted by the Ministry of Education, People’s Republic of China, is responsible for the enrollment and the administration of Chinese Government Scholarship Program.

Qualified applicants can apply for scholarship for Undergraduate/Bachelors, Masters & Doctoral/PhD programs in respective field of studies.

As per eligibility criteria, applicants must be Pakistani/AJ&K national. Dual nationality holders are not eligible to apply. Applicants must be in good health. Applicants with incomplete degrees on closing date of application are not allowed to apply.

Applicants for Undergraduate/Bachelors program must have intermediate/A-level/FA-FSC (12 years) of education and be under the age of 25 at the time of application. Applicants for Masters program must have a Bachelors degree (16 years) and be under the age of 35 at the time of application.

Applicants for PhD/Doctoral program must have a Masters degree MS/MPhil and be under the age of 40 years at the time of application. Meet the application requirement as prescribed on China Scholarship Council website & portal.

Meet the admission requirements of the applied universities in terms of academic eligibility, language proficiency and other relevant criteria. Applicants may not be in receipt of any other types of scholarship currently.

All applicants are required to provide HAT or Usat score (HAT for masters/phd and USAT for undergraduate). Applicants must have obtained a minimum score of 50 out of 100 in HAT or USAT test.??Without providing minimum HAT or USAT test score (50 out of 100), applications will not be considered for further process.

Pakistan to ensure protection of Chinese working in country: Ahsan Iqbal

ISLAMABAD:  Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal chaired a review meeting on CPEC Phase 2 and the 13th Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) at the Ministry of Planning, Development & Special Initiatives.

Attendees included the Additional Secretary of the Ministry, senior officials from various ministries, and representatives from federal and provincial ministries.

The officials received a comprehensive briefing on the preparations for the upcoming online JCC meeting scheduled for this week. Discussions covered projects related to communications, infrastructure, energy, economic development, agriculture, and the security of Chinese officials working in Pakistan.

Addressing the security concerns for Chinese personnel, Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal asserted that ensuring the protection and safety of Chinese personnel, projects, and programs is a top priority for the Government of Pakistan.

He highlighted that a comprehensive security strategy has been formulated, and Pakistan will implement effective measures to safeguard Chinese citizens.

Minister Ahsan Iqbal emphasized the priority of commencing the bidding process for the ML-1 project without delay and establishing a precise timeline for its timely initiation.

Concerning the Mineral Corridor, he directed that efforts should be intensified to finalize the agreement during this JCC session.

KARACHI: Chinese and Pakistani institutions have decided to further strengthen the cooperation in the field of nutrition, health, and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to safeguard the health of Chinese and Pakistani people.

Ningbo University, China, and Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD) at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, are planning to carry out space breeding and quality evaluation of medicinal plants and key food crops.

Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Director of the ICCBS, and COMSTECH Coordinator-General expressed these views while presiding over a meeting held at the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi on Wednesday.

He informed the meeting that a four-member Pakistani delegation led by Sindh Minister for Health and Population Welfare Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho just arrived back after having a 12-day visit to China.

“I and two other scholars of the ICCBS were also part of that delegation,” he maintained

The delegation also participated in health dialogues with Chinese health departments, hospitals, institutions, and enterprises for more possibilities in cooperation between China and Pakistan in the fields of health, medicine, and so on, he said.

Dr. Azra has assured the Chinese counterparts and institutions that the Government of Sindh will provide all-out support for the meaningful outcomes of all collaborative projects, Prof. Choudhary informed the meeting and added that she had proposed to initiate a joint project for the R&D and production of complementary food for mothers and child health in Sindh province.

She also proposed to have institutional linkages between the Institute of Food Science and Technology, Beijing, and Sindh’s premier research institution the ICCBS.

Ningbo University and Karachi University plan to carry out space breeding and quality evaluation of medicinal materials and key food crops, Prof. Choudhary said.

Focusing on food and drug homologous substances, the two sides will jointly develop nutrition and health products suitable for pregnant and lactating women and infants in Pakistan, and market them by Pakistani laws and regulations, he added.

During the visit to the Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the delegation showed great interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), he said, adding that both sides exchanged ideas and information on topics including talent exchange, construction of the TCM teaching system, clinical research, compilation of China-Pakistan herbal books.
