COVID Surge: Sindh govt decides to shut Restaurants

The Sindh government has on Wednesday decided to shut primary schools, indoor dine-in, parks, and other amusement places in the wake of growing COVID-19 cases in the province.

The decision to close indoor dine-in and schools was taken by the provincial COVID task force meeting headed by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah today.

According to decisions taken by the meeting, the indoor dine-in will remain closed from tomorrow (Thursday) night besides also closing down schools until class eight from Friday.

Schools for classes till Grade VIII will be closed from Friday while classes from 9th and above will be closed except for examination.

During the meeting, the chief minister expressed concern over the worsening situation of COVID-19 in Sindh where the positivity ratio has increased distinctly during the past few days.

It was also decided to impose a ban on indoor restaurants, amusement parks, water parks, tourists spots, cinemas, gyms and indoor games from Friday, July 16.

Earlier, the Federal Minister for Planning and Development and chairman of the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) Asad Umar had said that there are clear early signs of the 4th wave of coronavirus starting in the country.

In a tweet, Asad Umar said: “2 weeks back I had tweeted that our artificial intelligence models are showing possible emergence of 4th wave. Now there are clear early signs of the 4th wave starting. Poor sop compliance, coupled with the spread of variants of concern, Indian variant, in particular, are the main cause.”

“Field reports are showing a complete disregard of the condition of vaccination for those attending indoor weddings and going to indoor restaurants & gyms. If the owners of these facilities do not show responsibility & ensure compliance, there will be no choice but to shut them down,” he said.

Pakistan Coronavirus Update

Twenty-four more deaths due to Coronavirus and 1980 new positive cases of the infection have been reported in the country.

According to NCOCe, 47,472 tests were conducted while the positivity ratio remained four point one seven percent.

The death toll due to the pandemic in the country has touched 22,642.

Coronavirus: 1116 new cases reported in Sindh during last 24 hours

The coronavirus situation in Pakistan is worsening day by day as 1116 new cases reported in Sindh during the last 24 hours.

Chief Minister of Sindh, Murad Ali Shah said that 7 more patients die in Sindh today due to the global pandemic.

According to the details, the death toll due to Corona has risen to 4,801 in Sindh. So far 299,177 cases have been reported in the province.

The condition of 718 patients with coronary heart disease is critical, on the other hand, 58 patients are on ventilators.

365 new corona cases were reported in Karachi city, out of which, 164 new cases were reported in East District, 69 in South, and 65 in Central.

40 more cases were reported in Korangi, 15 in Gharbi district, and 12 in Malir.

‘Federation should take serious steps to control COVID’: CM Sindh

Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday has urged the Federal Government to act responsibly to control the spread of coronavirus.

According to the details, while talking to the media in Islamabad, Murad Ali Shah said that Pakistan is facing a severe crisis in terms of the coronavirus vaccination program. ‘The federation should take serious steps to control COVID-19.’

Murad Ali Shah lamented the Federal government neglected Sindh’s appeal of closing the intercity transport with immediate effect. ‘Not closing the intercity transport resulted in the virus spread,’ said the CM.

While speaking on the matter of electronic voting, Murad Ali Shah said that Electoral reforms can be enforced only after mutual agreement. CM Sindh said that ‘In 2017, all parties opposed the electronic voting machine,’ adding that; ‘Implementing the ordinance will not enforce the electronic machine system.’

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has on Tuesday filed a corruption reference against Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah over alleged misuse of power in province’s energy-related projects.

The anti-corruption watchdog filed a corruption reference against Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah in an accountability court of Islamabad.

He is facing charges of misusing the power in the disbursement of funds for energy-related projects in Sindh, according to the reference filed by NAB.

The NAB reference says that unregulated funds released for energy projects in Sindh. Billions were misappropriated in the Nooriabad Power Company and Sindh Transmission & Dispatch Company projects.

However, in the reference, 17 persons, including Sindh Chief Minister and Abdul Ghani Majeed have been indicted.

In October last year, it emerged that Murad Ali Shah and over 12 provincial cabinet members are on the radar of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) under corruption charges in separate cases.

1505 people contracted coronavirus in Sindh on 9th January, 2021

Coronavirus cases are rapidly increasing in Sindh as on Saturday 1505 new cases were reported in the province.

According to the details, the coronavirus cases have emerged more than 50 percent than those diagnosed just a day ago. CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah told that the deadly virus took the life of 14 people today.

He shared that 14,572 new samples were tested today which means the 10 percent positivity ratio has increased in Sindh.

Moreover, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) statistics have shown that during the last 24 hours, the deadly virus has claimed 40 more lives, whereas, 2,007 more people contracted the virus across the country.

The death toll has reached 10,598, however, 1,617 patients have recovered from the novel virus in a day and 2,266 patients are in critical condition.

The active cases in Pakistan in 33,474.

376 COVID-19 cases reported in Sindh during 24 hours

On Saturday, Syed Murad Ali Shah, the Chief Minister of Sindh has told that new 376 corona cases have been reported in the last 24 hours in the province.

“Two people also lost their lives owing to COVID-19,” the chief minister said.

According to the details, the death toll in the province due to coronavirus has reached up to 2,627.

CM Sindh said that 7479 samples were tested in the province for the novel virus in the past 24 hours.

241 more corona patients recuperated during the past 24 hours, told Murad Ali Shah.

As per the details, up till now, 138,669 patients have defeated coronavirus and are now fully recovered.

The CM further said that 4555 patients are currently under treatment across the province.

Murad Ali Shah has urged the people of the province to strictly follow the SOPs to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

It is pertinent to mention here that 11 more coronavirus-related fatalities were reported in Pakistan during the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 6,806.
