PDM Lahore Jalsa: Firdous Ashiq backlashes Opposition for risking people’s lives

Firdous Ashiq Awan Daska

As Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) Lahore Jalsa came to its end, PTI leaders including Prime Minister Imran Khan, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi took a jibe at the Opposition.

PDM Lahore Jalsa kicked off on Sunday (today) at Minar-e-Pakistan, termed as a “historic and decisive” power show.

However, Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab Firdous Ashiq says the opposition has failed to realize the alarming situation of Covid-19.

Addressing a news conference in Lahore, she said the negative politics of Pakistan Democratic Movement have been rejected by people of Lahore.

Firdous Ashiq Awan said citizens of the provincial metropolis are conscious and believe in the rule of law.

She said the government has not created any hurdle in the public meeting of opposition at the Greater Iqbal Park.

On the other hand, Shah Mahmood Qureshi termed the rally a failed show, claiming that the masses rejected the narrative of the opposition’s alliance.

He said the Pakistani people were “not ready to be fooled by these thieves and looters” again.

Commenting on the flop power show, FM Qureshi said that people of Lahore boycotted the opposition’s meeting and proved that they were not with their narrative.

Media showed that the government did not create hurdles in the way of the public meeting in Lahore, he added.

He added the nation has come to know the reality of their hollow and false slogans. “The political clowns who looted people have reunited once again,” the Foreign Minister added.

“The time has come to end the politics of looting,” FM Qureshi noted. The PDM is “imposing their personal agenda upon the people,” he said.

PDM Lahore Jalsa: “No NRO from my govt. for these looters”, says PM Imran in response

PDM Lahore Jalsa PM Imran Responsive message

Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) Lahore Jalsa kicked off here on Sunday (today) at Minar-e-Pakistan, termed as a “historic and decisive” power show.

According to police sources, around 8,500 people participated in the PDM Lahore Jalsa, while according to the special branch around 10,000 people attended the public gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan.

In a series of tweets on Sunday, PM Imran said the PDM leaders simply displayed utter callousness by endangering people’s lives despite COVID-19 threat across the country.

He wrote, “Pathetic. PDM spent so much money, time, effort & displayed utter callousness by endangering ppl’s lives during COVID-19 spike – showing the scant regard they have for citizens’ safety & well-being. All this just to blackmail me into giving them an NRO to save their looted wealth.”

He further made it clear to the PDM leaders that he won’t give NRO to them, no matter what future tactics or blackmailing they have planned for later.

“Let me once again reiterate: I will never give an NRO. Whatever future plans of further blackmail PDM may have, my message is categorical: There will never be an NRO from my govt no matter what tactics the looters devise,” tweeted the premier.

“My Narrative Is Same As Quaid-E-Azam’s”, Says Nawaz Sharif

On the other hand, PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif also addressed the Lahore rally via video link and asked who was answerable for the government’s failings.

“He says I won’t give an NRO. Who is asking you for an NRO? You and Aleema Khan got an NRO from Saqib Nisar yourself,” said Nawaz.

“They say, don’t take names? Tell me, what should we do? Is Imran Khan alone responsible for the predicament the country is in?”

Nawaz said that his “crime is that I speak the truth” and added that he was fighting for the people. He said that his “narrative” was the same as Quaid-e-Azam’s.

“Stop political engineering factories in agencies,” said the former prime minister.

The govt. couldn’t be toppled by holding rallies: Firdous Ashiq

Firdous Ashiq lashed out at PDM

Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab Firdous Ashiq Awan on Sunday has on Sunday termed the Opposition rallies the main cause of COVID-19 spread across Pakistan.

Firdous Ashiq lashed out at the Opposition over their irresponsible behaviours during the second wave of the COVID-19. She said that 25 more people succumbed to coronavirus during the past 24 hours in Punjab.

Awan maintained that 662 more people tested positive for the COVID-19 in the province.

PTI came into power through the power of the vote, she said, adding that the government could not be toppled by the rallies.

Speaking further about the economy, the special assistant said that political stability was vital for economic stability.

She said that the opposition meeting scheduled to be held on 13th of December will prove to be a flop-show.

Earlier in a day, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President, Maryam Nawaz has on Sunday urged her party workers to respond quickly if any case registered against them by the incumbent government.

The VP lamented the PTI government as 3,000 first information reports (FIR) are filed after every rally held by the Opposition.

Maryam’s remarks came to light ahead of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM)’s rally planned at Lahore’s Minar-e-Pakistan monument on December 13.

Although Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the 11-party Opposition alliance will not be prevented from holding the rally, he vowed that cases will be registered against all organisers and facilitators of the rally.

Maryam spoke at length about how the party’s popularity has been propelled by the social media teams.

Moreover, Maryam said that the PDM is about to make big decisions ahead of a meeting between alliance members on December 8.

“The people of Pakistan have won this war. Victory only remains to be declared in the rally on the 13th,” she said.
