The actress, who was just 17 when she starred as Elizabeth Swann in The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003), revealed how the massive success of the films brought intense pressure and public shaming.

“In that classic trauma way, I don’t remember it,” Knightley shared with The Times of London. “There’s been a complete delete, and then some things will come up and I’ll suddenly have a very bodily memory of it because, ultimately, it’s public shaming, isn’t it?” She added, “It’s obviously part of my psyche, given how young I was when it happened. I’ve been made around it.”

Knightley faced harsh criticism, including baseless accusations of having an eating disorder. Reflecting on one particularly troubling moment, she recalled being asked during a press tour about one of the Olsen twins’ struggles with anorexia: “I remember sitting there just being like, ‘Wow, this is wild.’ Can you imagine? That made me really emotional.”

While the franchise launched her into stardom, Knightley admitted it left her with mixed feelings. “It’s a funny thing when you have something that was making and breaking you at the same time.” Despite the challenges, she acknowledged feeling “unbelievably lucky” for the support from family, friends, and “lovely boyfriends” that helped her navigate the storm.

Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande’s alleged pay gap in ‘Wicked’ ignites online debate

Wicked
  • The salary breakdown of the Wicked cast sparked a debate online.
  • The pay disparity between its two leading stars made people confused.
  • Allegedly, Cynthia Erivo earned only $1 million for her role.

The rumored earnings breakdown of the Wicked cast has sparked a major debate on social media, with many questioning the pay disparity between its two leading stars.

Allegedly, Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, earned $1 million for her role. In contrast, Ariana Grande, portraying Glinda the Good Witch, reportedly took home a whopping $15 million—over ten times more than her co-star.

This pay gap highlights Ariana’s significant star power, especially since Wicked has already shattered records for opening weekend numbers among Broadway-to-screen adaptations.

Other major cast members, such as Michelle Yeoh (Madame Morrible) and Jeff Goldblum (The Wizard), are rumored to have earned $2 million each, while Jonathan Bailey (Prince Fiyero) made $450,000, and Ethan Slater (Boq) received $350,000.

The rumored salaries have stirred a wave of reactions, with some fans calling the pay gap “diabolical” and “unfair.” One viral tweet on X, with over 11 million views and 120,000 likes, read: “Ariana getting paid over $10M more than Cynthia doesn’t sit right with me.”

Another user remarked, “Actor salaries aren’t based on talent but on who will bring audiences to the movie.” The controversy has only fueled greater excitement ahead of the film’s release.

Kriti Sanon reveals who she thinks is responsible for nepotism in Bollywood

Kriti Sanon
  • Kriti Sanon addressed the much-debated topic of nepotism.
  • She emphasized that talent remains the deciding factor.
  • She said that it takes time when you don’t have a film background.

Bollywood actor Kriti Sanon, who made her debut alongside Tiger Shroff in Heropanti, has carved a successful career on her own terms. Speaking at a masterclass during the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, Kriti addressed the much-debated topic of nepotism, offering a balanced perspective on the issue.

Sharing her thoughts, Kriti remarked, “I feel the industry is not so much responsible for nepotism. It’s also the media and the audience. The audiences want to watch what the media is putting about certain star kids. Because the audience is interested in them, the industry feels that since the audience is interested let’s make a movie with them. So I think it’s a circle.” She emphasized that talent remains the deciding factor, adding, “If you are talented, you will get there. If you’re not talented, and if the connect is not there with the audiences you will not get there.”

Reflecting on her journey as an outsider, Kriti shared, “When you don’t belong to a film background, it takes time for you to get there. It takes time for you to get those opportunities you crave for… But after 2-3 films, if you keep working hard and if you are at it, nothing can stop you.”

Kriti, known for hits like Dilwale, Bareilly Ki Barfi, and Luka Chuppi, recently launched her production house, Blue Butterfly Films, debuting with Do Patti alongside Kajol and Shaheer Sheikh. Her journey stands as a testament to resilience and talent overcoming hurdles in Bollywood.
