Sushant Singh Rajput would have turned 37. On June 14, 2020, the actor’s body was discovered at his Bandra residence in Mumbai. Rhea spent 28 days in jail after being charged by Sushant’s family for aiding suicide.

Rhea posted two unguarded photos of herself with Sushant Singh Rajput along with the hashtag “(infinity sign) +1” on Instagram. In the first image, the two of them were seen candidly posing between two mugs. The second was a joyful selfie that they both took.

Saudi Arabia: Following prison training, 211 Saudi female soldiers graduate

According to the Saudi official news, 211 Saudi female conscripts have graduated after completing a basic individual training course at a prison facility.

The course, which focused on gaining field skills and security sciences, was held at the Women’s Capacity Training and Development Centre, which is affiliated with the General Directorate for Prisons, according to the agency.

The conscripts staged a parade at their graduation ceremony to demonstrate the military skills they learned during their training. The parade also included a shooting demonstration.

The ceremony was presided over by Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud, and it was attended by representatives from various government sectors as well as the graduates’ families.

In 2019, the kingdom announced that women would be allowed to serve in the army.

Earlier this month, 255 other Saudi women graduated from a women’s army training institute, where they were prepared to join special forces in diplomatic and Hajj security.

Saudi Arabia has vigorously pursued a drive to empower women from various walks of life in recent years as part of dramatic changes in the kingdom.

According to Saud Minister of Human Resources Ahmed Al Rajhi, women accounted for 37% of the kingdom’s overall labor market last year.

For the first time in its history, the kingdom allowed women to drive in 2018, breaking a decades-long ban.

In another step toward women’s empowerment, Saudi Arabia allowed women to travel without the approval of a male guard and to apply for a passport, easing long-standing restrictions.

Two female ambassadors were among the 11 Saudi envoys who took the oath of office this month before King Salman bin Abdulaziz.

Saudi Arabia limits the number of loudspeakers in mosques to four

Saudi Arabia has issued directives restricting the use of loudspeakers in all mosques across the Kingdom, according to local media.

Sheikh Dr. Abdul Latif bin Abdul Aziz Al Sheikh, Minister of Islamic Affairs, has set a limit of four external loudspeakers to be used only in mosques to make prayer calls.

Dr. Al Sheikh has directed all Imams to remove any extra loudspeakers from mosques and store them in a warehouse for later use or give them away to mosques that do not have enough.

The minister’s directives come almost two months before Ramadan, which is set to begin on March 23.

Last year, the ministry imposed volume limits on mosque loudspeakers during the fasting month. Speakers must not use more than one-third of their maximum volume.

Officials from the ministry have asked mosque staff to follow the circular, which restricts the use of external loudspeakers for the first (adhan) and second (Iqamah) calls to prayer.

It also stated that speakers should not be used for additional prayers during the holy month, and that live transmission of prayers from mosques on all forms of media was prohibited during the previous Ramadan.

According to the ministry, using external loudspeakers at high volumes could harm the vulnerable, the elderly, and young children, as well as drown out prayers held in nearby mosques.

FIA gives clean chit to Suleman Shehbaz in money laundering case

LAHORE: Federal Investigation Department (FIA) has given clean chit to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s son Suleman Shehbaz in a money laundering case.

The Special Judge Central Court heard the Rs 16 billion money laundering case against PM’s son Suleman Shehbaz. The FIA told the court that they did not find any evidence of money laundering and kickbacks.

Special Judge Central Bakht Fakhr Behzad heard the application of Suleman Shehbaz. Special prosecutor Farooq Bajwa and investigating officer presented with supplementary challan.

The court asked Suleman Shehbaz if he want to withdraw the bail pleas. According to the challan submitted by FIA the accused have no connection with this case, the court said.

Salman Shahbaz’s counsel told the court that money laundering was not proved against any of the accused.

The court adjourned the hearing till February 4 and all the accused were summoned for the arguments on the acquittal plea.

Earlier, an accountability court in Lahore granted interim bail to Suleman Shehbaz, son of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a money laundering case.

Suleman, who returned to Pakistan, was granted bail after he filed a petition for pre-arrest bail in the reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in 2020.

Lebanon to pay UN dues after losing voting rights

BEIRUT: After losing UN voting rights for the second time in three years due to unpaid contributions, Lebanon, which is in a severe financial crisis, said on Friday that it would pay arrears to regain its rights at the international organization.

In a letter dated January 17, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres listed Lebanon, Dominica, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, South Sudan, and Venezuela as countries that had currently lost their UN General Assembly vote.

The UN dues would be paid “directly, in a way that preserves Lebanon’s rights at the UN,” according to Lebanon’s foreign ministry. The reasons for the delay were not mentioned in a ministry statement.

In his letter, Guterres stated that Lebanon must pay a minimum of $1.8 million to regain its voting rights.

Under UN rules, a country can lose its vote in the General Assembly if it is in arrears by any amount equal to or greater than the contributions due for the previous two years unless it can demonstrate an inability to pay that is beyond its control.

Lebanon has been in a deep crisis since 2019 when its financial system collapsed due to decades of wasteful spending, mismanagement, and corruption by ruling elites.

The state has been largely paralyzed since it defaulted on its foreign currency in 2020, with spending slashed across the board and foreign aid from the United States and Qatar helping to pay soldiers’ salaries.

The crisis, which the UN says has left eight out of ten Lebanese poor, has been allowed to fester, prompting the World Bank to label it a deliberate depression orchestrated by ruling factions.

RRR is anticipating being nominated for several categories, including Best Original Song, for the 95th Academy Awards, which will be revealed on January 24. Actor Jr. NTR is currently one of the front-runners for the Best Actor award, according to a prestigious American magazine.

In the SS Rajamouli film, Jr. NTR portrays the liberation fighter Komaram Bheem, which has been making waves with western audiences. The publication now asserts that Jr. NTR’s performance in the movie must have caught the Academy’s attention and may have contributed to his potential nomination for Best Actor.

“Here are 10 performances from deserving folks we hope are remembered in this year’s Oscar race,” mentioned the article, as it went on to rank Jr NTR at the top of the list that also includes names of actors like Tom Cruise, Paul Dano, Mia Goth, Paul Mescal and Zoe Kravitz. Mentioning Jr NTR’s performance in RRR, writer Brian Truitt wrote, “Academy, is it possible to go halfsies on a best actor nod? Because this action-packed musical adventure’s two Indian mega-stars are what makes “RRR” such an audience-friendly powerhouse: Ram Charan’s British army soldier and Rao’s loyal warrior become friends, butt heads as foes and then come back together as a fighting force, with an all-time bromance and an amazing dance-off along the way. If we have to pick, though, the charismatic Rao has the edge for leading an army of wild animals and juggling a motorcycle with ease.”

Priyanka Chopra Jonas recently revealed pictures from a recent RRR screening in the US, where she posed for pictures with director SS Rajamouli and composer MM Keeravani and spoke on stage. Priyanka stated on Instagram Stories, “Least I can do to support the progress of this outstanding Indian film. RRR, SS Rajamouli, MM Keeravani, Ram Charan, Jr. NTR, Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Prem Rakshith (choreographer), Kala Bhairava (singer), and Chandrabose (lyricist) are all to be congratulated and given good luck.

Since it was re-released in US theaters and began streaming on Netflix last year, the western public have loved RRR, starring Jr. NTR and Ram Charan. Numerous Hollywood luminaries, including the Russo Brothers and Steven Spielberg, have praised the movie and its song Naatu Naatu, which most recently won the Golden Globe for best original song, besting artists like Taylor Swift and Rihanna. Team RRR has been actively promoting the movie in Hollywood and plans to be nominated for numerous Oscars in 2023.
