Excessive detail in paintings and caricatures was popular in the 1990s and early 2000s. These works of art were utilised to create riddles that youngsters enjoyed solving.

The goal of making images with little features and elements is to see if the human eye can capture them all.

There’s also the issue of perspective. A single set of eyes may examine a picture from a single perspective and pick out specific details. By viewing the image from a different angle, another set of eyes can pick up on information that the original person missed.

This is more applicable to visual illusions, which can be physical, physiological, or cognitive in nature.

We’ve also seen similar image challenges when the identical image is released twice, with minor variations between the second and first. The problem is to notice tiny alterations in a short period of time.
