New Delhi: According to Delhi Police sources, Aftab Amin Poonawalla has been charged with murdering his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar and chopping her body into 35 pieces using a saw-like instrument.

According to reports, forensic and electronic evidence, in addition to 100 witnesses, has formed the basis of the more than 3,000-page draught charge sheet. The charge sheet is expected to be submitted by the end of January by the Delhi police.

According to sources, legal experts are reviewing the draught charge sheet issued by the Delhi Police.

On May 18, last year, accused Aftab Poonawalla allegedly strangled Shraddha Walkar to death in Delhi’s Chhatarpur neighborhood, then dismembered her body.

The police further stated in the charge sheet that the bones retrieved from the jungles of Chhatarpur belonged to Shraddha, and their DNA result corroborated this.

Aftab Poonawala’s confession and the narco test report are also included, albeit both of these papers, according to Delhi Police sources, are of little value in court.

The police reported on January 4 that hair and bones retrieved from a woodland area in Mehrauli, South Delhi, matched Shraddha’s.

The mitochondrial DNA report of the samples discovered in Mehrauli’s woodland region and forwarded for testing at the Centre for DNA Fingerprinting Diagnostic (CDFD) in Hyderabad matched that of the victim’s father and sibling, according to the Delhi Police.

Previously, the police accused Aftab of providing false replies to inquiries.
