Former Pakistan cricketer lists reasons why Indian cricket is better

Former Pakistan cricketer lists reasons why Indian cricket is better

Abdur Rehman, 41, former Pakistan spinner stated that the Indian cricketing system is better than Pakistan’s and how well they take care of their national players.

Indian cricket, currently, enjoys an enviable status, in the last few months, they in different matches showed their depth and talent by making staggering comebacks from tough situations along with every player putting their hand up to perform.

Rehman, played twenty-two Tests, thirty-one ODIs, and eight T20Is for Pakistan, having a total of one-hundred-forty international wickets, and took retirement in October 2018. He stated that the ‘Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)’ is better than the ‘Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’ and how well they take care of their players.

Rehman said, “Indian system is much better than Pakistan. Their level of domestic cricket is high. Their attitude towards players is very good. Even their domestic cricket has a standard, so the players are treated accordingly. The match fees of their players are high. Their contracts are impressive”.

He also called out PCB for their central contracts fiasco and for failing to make successful selections.

He further said, “Last year, PCB had handed out central contracts and paid players rupees fifty lakh. But today, there are neither in PSL nor in domestic cricket. Who is to blame for this fiasco? There has to be a system in place. The current players as well as the upcoming generation must know how it works. The current PCB management seems to be more interested in safeguarding themselves. Players are picked randomly and dropped”.

He added: “PCB needs to take a positive approach going ahead. Good players need to be brought into the setup, and they need to be honed and given a long enough run to prove themselves. If PCB keeps chopping and changing, neither will the team benefit nor the cricket board.”

Wasim Khan: regrets on using ‘inappropriate’ words for Pakistani journalists

Wasim Khan: regrets on using ‘inappropriate’ words for Pakistani journalists

‘Wasim Khan’ Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) CEO has regretted the inappropriate words he used for few Pakistani journalists.

PCB released Wasim’s statement which read as: “On Saturday during an interview, I made some comments about some members of the media. On reflection, my selection of words and the tenor was inappropriate, which I regret. The continued and unending tirade against me based on my loyalty and commitment to Pakistan cricket took its toll on me.

“I look forward to building and strengthening my relationships with the media but also hope their assessment, analysis, and scrutiny will be on my work, performance, and contributions.”

A couple of days back, on YouTube Wasim said Pakistani Journalism is a ‘circus’ that has been continuously pointing his United Kingdom (UK) citizenship.

He said, “I know there are comments about me that I am a British national, etc. One particular journalist talks about this every time, his two children are studying in the UK as well. If he is so patriotic that he is accusing me, why are his children still in the UK? They are benefitting from this system. They don’t talk on cricket, they have their agendas”.

He concluded, “These so-called experts talk about my salary or why I’m sitting in the UK, due to Covid; it’s nonsense. People from media of other countries text me and ask me about this circus in our media and who these jokers are? This is not good for our country’s image”.

Saad Rafiq press conference

Khawaja Saad Rafiq, PML-N leader, and former Railways Minister has demanded a judicial investigation into a train accident in Ghotki that killed at least 42 passengers and injured more than 100 others.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday in response to the government’s criticism, Saad Rafiq stated that the government had reduced the railway development budget by 60%. He claimed that no one was responsible for the restoration and upkeep of railway tracks. He stated that the PML-N government’s priority was the Ghotki track project.

Despite the passage of three years, he stated that the project had not yet begun. He claimed that federal ministers were criticizing him, which he described as a heinous act. During the PML-N government, he claimed, they were asked to resign due to such an incident.

The PTI government has destroyed railways like the other national institutions, he said. “The situation of railways is bad now. Even if you ask me to make it right, I will not touch it,” he said.

Responding to a question about his NAB cases, he said, “We do not change our ideology and that’s why our issues could not be resolved. But I am not afraid of anything, they can do whatever they want to do.”

Yuvraj Singh predicted the team which has an advantage in the WTC final

Yuvraj Singh predicted the team which has an advantage in the WTC final

Yuvraj Singh’ predicted the winning team in the World Test Championship (WTC) final. He also argued in favor of having the best of three Tests for the finale of the grand event.

The Indian team will face New Zealand in the WTC final at Southampton on 18th June, currently, they are in mandatory quarantine in England.

Experts are predicting their favorites for winning the inaugural title.

Sunil Gavaskar’ former Indian cricketer feels that India could be at an advantage if New Zealand loses their Tests match against England.

‘Brett Lee’ former Australian pacer stated that New Zealand could be at an advantage.

Yuvraj Singh’ former Indian all-rounder also jumped into the bandwagon and stated that New Zealand is playing their two-match red-ball series against England which would give New Zealand an advantage as they would be better prepared for the English conditions.

Yuvraj said, “There are 8-10 practice sessions (for Team India) but there’s no substitute for match-practice. It will be an even contest but New Zealand will have an edge. I do believe India is very strong because lately, we have been winning outside the country. I think our batting is stronger, in bowling they are at par”.

Yuvraj also told that instead of a one-off Test final, there should be a best of three matches in whites for the culmination of the two-and-a-half-year event.

He concluded, “I feel in a situation like this, there should be a best of 3 Tests, because if you lose the first one then you can come back in the next two. India will have a slight disadvantage because New Zealand is already playing Test cricket in England”.

UK: dating apps to features Covid-19 vaccine stickers

UK dating apps

In collaboration with the government, dating apps in the United Kingdom have developed an innovative campaign to assist the ongoing vaccination program.

These apps will reward users with special stickers, badges, and extras if they have received a coronavirus vaccination (Covid-19).

The Department of Health announced on Sunday that Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge are among the apps that are collaborating with the government.

As Health Secretary Matt Hancock said on Sunday, the UK rollout will reach the under-30s this week.

In May, the US launched a similar campaign, partnering with dating apps such as Tinder, OkCupid, and Plenty of Fish.

The applications also promote the government of the United Kingdom’s “Every vaccination gives us hope” campaign.

After a YouGov study in May indicated that 28% of adults would not date someone who was unvaccinated, and 31% would prefer not to, the UK government has formed a unique partnership with dating apps.

British health minister Matt Hancock said on Sunday that the country’s swift vaccine rollout had weakened, but not broken, the link between the virus, hospitalization, and death.

Britain’s overall death toll from the pandemic stands at 127,836 and is the sixth-highest in the world, according to Johns Hopkins University data.

Britain on Sunday reported 5,341 new cases of Covid-19, up 68% from a week ago.

Joe Biden being pushed to send more Covid-19 medical help to India

Afghanistan War: Biden Says He Has No Regrets Over Troop Withdrawals

After the US President Joe Biden announced that the US will allocate 75% – nearly 1.9 crore of the first tranche of 2.5 crore doses – of unused Covid-19 vaccines from its stockpile to countries in South and Southeast Asia as well as Africa by the end of June, American lawmakers called on the US government to send more vaccines and medical assistance to India.

As part of his administration’s strategy for distributing 80 million (8 crores) vaccines globally, Biden stated the US will share the vaccine with several countries to fight the epidemic through the UN-backed COVAX global vaccine sharing program.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott said, “The crisis in India is devastating and demands more action from (President Joe) Biden. More Covid-19 vaccines and medical supplies are needed to help one of our most important global allies fight this virus,”

Senator Ted Cruz, a Republican, stated that about 300 million doses of Covid-19 vaccination have been provided in the United States.

“India is a critical friend of the US. Biden’s vaccine sharing programme is flawed: We should prioritise our allies such as India, and make sure it receives the Covid-19 vaccines they desperately need,” he said.

Hill, who is a member of the House Financial Services Committee said, “The situation in India, one of our closest allies, is dire. I encourage the Biden administration to support India with vaccines in their time of need,”

Congressman August Pfluger said, “We should immediately send additional vaccines and critical medical supplies,”

India reported 1,00,636 fresh Covid-19 cases on Monday, the lowest in 61 days, taking the infection tally to 2,89,09,975, according to the Union Health Ministry’s latest data. The death toll due to coronavirus reached 3,49,186 with 2,427 new fatalities, the lowest in around 45 days.

Delhi, Mumbai reduces lockdown as Covid-19 situation eases in cities

India, Mumbai reduces lockdown

India’s capital New Delhi, and the country’s financial capital, Mumbai began reducing restrictions gradually as coronavirus cases dropped in two months.

In April and May, hospitals in the megacities which have a combined population of almost 40 million people were overburdened by a deadly Covid-19 outbreak, resulting in severe oxygen and other necessary medical shortages.

With well under 29 million infections, India became the second deadliest country after the United States, reporting record-breaking numbers of cases and deaths.

Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “We have to stay safe from corona infection and also bring the economy back on track,”

Some shops and malls were allowed to reopen and Metro services were allowed to operate at 50% capacity in Delhi.

According to the latest report, the northern city reported an average of 25,000 daily cases.

Officials said that the number of infections had dropped to 381.

Rajendra Kalkar of Phoenix Mills, which manages three shopping centers in Maharashtra said, “This is a step in the right direction,”

“Businesses at our malls are coming back slowly. This is a very welcome step for thousands of mall staff and retail employees.”

During the Maharashtra shutdown, the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Western India reported that over two million jobs were affected.

The restaurant manager of the Mumbai branch of popular eatery Social, Malay said, “We are very happy to open our doors again today,”

While the crisis has subsided in Delhi, Mumbai, and other big cities, experts warn that the disease is still spreading in rural areas and southern states.

India reported 400,000-plus cases in May, and over 100,000 new infections, and nearly 2,500 deaths on Monday.

Although experts caution that the exact toll might be significantly higher, and there have been suspicions of undercounting, the health ministry claimed total deaths were just under 347,000 so far.

Cricket wasn’t in my initial plans and I had to struggle a lot for it. I was pretty good at studies too and I used to go for matches without telling anyone”.

He also told that he never joined any club or academy to enhance his skills. He believes that he always played his ‘natural game’, which helped him to excel well in his career and also helped him to grow a lot.

He said, “I never went to any academy or club. My friends used to take me to matches and I started performing regularly with both bat and ball. As far as my early training is concerned, I never went to a club or an academy and I haven’t received any coaching as well. I was completely natural and it helped me progress as a player”.
