Minal Khan can’t stop missing her late father

Minal Khan

Aiman and Minal Khan’s father Mubeen Khan had passed away on Thursday (31st December 2020) after struggling with major health issues. Since then, both the sisters cannot stop missing their beloved father.

Minal took to Instagram and expressed how much she was missing her father. She shared a photo that read,

“You never think the last time is going to be the last time,” the post read, most likely referring to her final visit to her father when he was alive.

Earlier, Jalan actress uploaded a photo of her late father and sister Aiman Khan and penned down a heartfelt caption.

1,235 new coronavirus cases reported in Sindh

On Thursday, Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah said that Sindh has registered 1,235 new coronavirus cases and 11 people have succumbed to death due to the novel virus.

According to the details provided by CM Sindh, the overall COVID-19 cases have reached 231,953 and the total number of deaths stands at 3,755 in the province.

In the last 24 hours, 13,008 tests were conducted out of which, 1,235 came out positive, taking the detection rate to 9.5%.

CM Shah said that 210,774 patients had recovered from the virus, including 647 recovered in the last 24 hours.

“The condition of 817 patients [is] critical,” he said, adding that 92 of them have been shifted to ventilators.

Meanwhile, out of the 1,235 new cases, 979 were from Karachi, including 351 from District South, 293 East, 121 Central, 119 Korangi, 54 Malir, and 41 West.

Moreover, Hyderabad recorded 48 new cases, Matiari 27, Jamshoro 24, Tando Allahyar 21, Shaheed Benazirabad and Thatta 19 each, Jacobabad 16, Ghotki seven, Khairpur, Shikarpur and Tando Muhammad Khan six each, Larkana and Sukkur five each, Kambar and Sujawal 4 each, Nausheroferoze and Umerkot three each, Kashmore two, Mirpurkhas one.

The moon of Jamadi-ul-Sani has been sighted in Pakistan. According to the details, the sighting of the moon was announced by the Ministry of Religious Affairs instead of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

The Central Route Hilal Committee met for the first time in the federal capital Islamabad under the chairmanship of new chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad.

During the meeting, an attempt was made to sight the moon of Jamadi-ul-Sani. Efforts were also made to obtain evidence from zonal sighting crescent committees across the country regarding the sighting of the moon.

Tayyip Erdogan to receive coronavirus vaccine today on live TV

To alleviate any public doubts over the effectiveness of coronavirus vaccine, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will receive the vaccine live on television later today (14th January), a spokesman for his rulling AK Party said.

It is pertinent to mention here that Turkey had started administering the shots developed by China’s Sinovac to the health workers on Tursday. Turkey has vaccinated more than 200,000 health workers so far.

The novel coronavirus has killed more than 23,000 people in Turkey.

According to the details, Erdogan will get vaccinated after meeting with AK Party official on live television.

Earlier in December 2021, the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had announced to enhance further restrictions as the novel Coronavirus witnessed a major spike across the country.

Erdoğan, amidst increasing virus cases and deaths, announced a complete lockdown on weekends.

The President said the country had opted for the move in light of increasing cases of coronavirus and the surge in deaths as a result of the virus.

Moreover, Turkey had bought 50 million vaccines which would be provided to citizens from the current month, president Erdoğan said.

Weather update: Temperature in Karachi expected to fall from January 17

On Thursday, the Pakistan Metrological Department said that the severity of cold in Karachi has fallen and mentioned that the temperature would further reduce in the coming days.

According to the Met Office, the port city recorded a minimum temperature of 9.5°C Thursday morning.

Earlier, Sardar Sarfaraz, Met Director said that due to the Siberian winds, the severity of cold in Karachi is being felt, adding that the temperature was likely to decrease from January 17.

On Wednesday (13 January) the metropolis had recorded a minimum temperature of 7.5°C in the morning.

Earlier on Jan 13th, dense fog in the early hours had forced the closure of portions of the Motorway from Lahore to Abdul Hakeem (M3) and from Pindi Bhatian to Gojra (M4) for motorists.

According to the reports, the two motorway sections were closed as visibility over National Highway was only from 10 to 50 meters.

Commuters had advised using the GT Road with fog lights instead, or call the Motorway Police helpline 130 before traveling on the motorway.

Pakistan records over 3,000 new coronavirus cases

Pakistan COVID-19: Cases Drops To Less Than Thousand After Four Months

In the last 24 hours, Pakistan has recorded 3,097 new coronavirus cases, taking the tally of infections to 511,921.

According to the latest update by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 41,574 samples were tested out of which 3,097 came out positive.

The last time when Pakistan witnesses more than 3,000 corona positive patients in a single day was on December 19, 2020.

Over the past 24 hours, 16 people succumbed to the deadly virus taking the death toll to 10,818.

There are 33,869 active COVID-19 cases and 2,284 patients have recovered so farm, taking the number of recovered patients to 467,234.

, Sindh has reported 230,718 cases, Punjab 147,292, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 62,377, Balochistan 18,488, Islamabad 39,624, Azad Jammu and Kashmir 8,540, and Gilgit Baltistan 4,882.

$6.9 million increased in foreign exchange reserves

According to the data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the foreign exchange reserves increased by $6.9 million. 

During the last week, the country’s foreign exchange reserves increased by $6.9 million. On the other hand, the central bank reserves were decreased by $12.3 million.

As per the details, the country’s foreign exchange reserves stood at 20.51 billion dollars last week.

The central bank’s reserves fell by $12.3 million to a record $13.4 billion and the reserves of commercial banks increased by $19.2 million to $7.119 billion.

In December 2020, the foreign exchange reserves rose 1.43%, held by the central bank, on a weekly basis.

The foreign currency reserves on December 4 held by the SBP were recorded at $13,298.5 million, up to $188 million compared with $13,110.9 million in the last week.

According to the details provided by the central bank, SBP received $359 million from multilateral/ bilateral sources during the week ended December 4, 2020, including $307 million from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
