The versatile artist Meesha Shafi recently engaged in a cultural exchange experience in Toronto. She collaborated with Indian-Canadian singer Rupinder “Rup” Singh Magon on an episode of “Out in the Open,” where they embarked on a culinary adventure by preparing fish biryani while discussing Shafi’s latest developments.

During the cooking session, Rup had an in-depth conversation with Shafi, exploring her journey from Lahore to Toronto. Shafi shared her insights about the multifaceted aspects of immigration, highlighting Toronto’s unique status as a cultural melting pot, setting it apart from other Western cities. She expressed her special connection to Toronto, even though it might not be the most mainstream choice.

Despite her established reputation in Pakistan, Shafi candidly discussed the challenges of rediscovering her identity in a new and foreign environment. She talked about the process of reshaping her identity and immersing herself in this new cultural milieu. Despite the initial adjustments, she had no regrets and fondly remembered her immediate affection for Toronto. However, Shafi, like many other Pakistanis, remains deeply rooted in her cultural heritage. She humorously admitted to having a “foodie mentality” and confessed her cravings for traditional Pakistani cuisine if she goes without it for more than a few days.

Shafi also offered a sneak peek into her upcoming debut album, titled “Mein,” which translates to “I” in English. She emphasized the significance of this title, hinting at a deeper exploration of self through her music, aligning with her earlier reflections on personal discovery in her new Canadian home.

In terms of her recent work, Shafi’s song repertoire includes tracks like Saranjaam, Aya Lariye, and Muaziz Saarif.

Renowned Pakistani artist Meesha Shafi has expanded her list of accomplishments by taking home the 2023 Audience Award for Narrative Feature Competition at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival. Mustache has received accolades from The Film Stage, which called it a “rebellious yet minor coming-of-age tale,” in recognition of the excellent work of Imran J. Khan, who both directed and authored the movie.

Producing the film alongside Khan, Christina Won, Jessica Sittig, Christopher Storer, and Tyson Bidner helped it gain popularity and notoriety. The film Mustache portrays the tale of Ilyas, a Pakistani teenager attending a public high school in San Jose after being expelled from an Islamic elementary school for inciting a fight.

Ilyas’s primary problem is that he grew a moustache when he was ten years old, which makes for awkward class pictures. The movie, which takes place in the mid-1990s, beautifully depicts the emotional agony of a young person who is confronted with what seems like an insurmountable, life-altering situation.

In January, Shafi shared a selfie of herself wearing a hijab and expressing her excitement for the movie, in which she is portraying a young adolescent. She commended her castmates Hasan Minhaj, Alicia Silverstone, and Atharva Verma and said that Mustache was a lovely movie.

Yasir Hussain slammed Feroze Khan in his Instagram stories for revealing his personal phone number in a since-deleted tweet. On Twitter, Feroze Khan posted a list of celebrities and stated that he was issuing them defamation notices.
Hussain posted a screenshot of a man who had been relentlessly pestering him with requests to be cast in TV dramas. He attacked Feroze Khan for exposing personal information.

“A dumb man beat his wife and then disclosed our numbers to the general public. Due to this, the child is now pleading with me to put him in a drama or else he would demand Rs. 1 lac. Please advise what I should do,” He added.

The individual had written him a lot of messages, which he posted in the next post. However, he made note that he would not publicly share the individual’s phone number, as Feroze Khan had done.

Hussain also posted a screenshot of Meesha Shafi’s Instagram post in which she expressed her support and solidarity with the 10 actresses who had received defamation letters from Feroze Khan, claiming that she could relate because she had experienced a similar situation.

“Having suffered the most malifide defamation case…I just want to tell anyone who might be stressing about this stupid case that he’s going to lose in every way in the end. Karma is real. All my solidarity to each and everyone of you, especially Alizeh.”

He also posted a screenshot of one of his conversations in which the spammer apologized and said he was a big fan of the actor Falak Shabbir and asked Hussain to assist him in reaching out to him.

Recently, Feroze Khan filed a legal notice against all the actors who posted negative comments about him. A few of the celebrities on the list were, Syeda Aliza Fatima- ex-wife, Musaddiq Malik, Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, Osman Khalid Butt, Farhan Saeed Butt.

Ali Zafar requests court to seized Meesha Shafi’s passport

Once again making news is the dispute surrounding Lollywood singers Ali Zafar and Meesha Shafi.

Media reports state that Zafar’s damages claim was heard in front of an additional sessions judge. The singer of Dasht e Tanhai made a request for exemption from attendance owing to joint pain and asked for an adjournment of the hearing so that cross-examination could take place.

On the other hand, the singer of Channo filed a request to have the Sunn Ve Balori singer’s passport placed in judicial custody and to deliver the summons for an appearance.

Meesha Shafi left before the cross-examination was finished, and she is still in Pakistan to attend the premiere of a movie in which her brother worked, according to the petition, which claimed that Shafi is purposefully attempting to dodge court proceedings.

In order to avoid leaving the country without finishing Shafi’s cross-examination, Zafar’s attorney asked to be given custody of the passport.

For the uninitiated, Shafi accused Ali Zafar of sexual harassment on Twitter on April 19, 2018. Zafar vehemently refuted the accusations and vowed to take the case to court.

On June 23, 2018, Zafar sued Shafi for slander under the Defamation Ordinance 2002 for 1 billion rupees, saying Shafi had injured his reputation, goodwill, and livelihood through “false, slanderous, and defamatory” claims.

The Pakistani Supreme Court will hear arguments in the singers Meesha Shafi and Ali Zafar’s sexual harassment case On September 2.

Meesha’s request for cross-examination will be heard by a two-judge panel chaired by Justice Qazi Faez Isa via video link.

Meesha filed an appeal in the Supreme court earlier after a trial and high court rejected her motion. The Teefa in Trouble star and other parties to the lawsuit were then given notice by the SC.

The Jugni singer previously alleged on Twitter in April 2018 that her co-star Ali Zafar had repeatedly engaged in sexual harassment “of a physical character” toward her. She used the hashtag #MeToo to connect her accusation to a larger movement against sexual assault and harassment. In June 2018, the Rockstar singer filed a defamation lawsuit in Lahore court through his attorney, asking the court to order Ms. Shafi to retract her false accusations and pay Rs. 1 billion in damages.

Meesha Shafi, a singer, Iffat Omar, a model, and seven other people were detained on September 29 by the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) cybercrime unit on suspicion of waging a social media campaign against musician Ali Zafar.
