The first day of Ramadan 2021 will fall on April 14 (Wednesday) and the Muslims will observe the first Taraweeh prayers tonight.

However, several politicians, social media users and other Muslims felicitate the Muslim brethren on this auspicious occasion.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Senator Faisal Javed, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz and other extend greetings of this holy month.

It is pertinent to mention here that the moon for the month of Ramadan had been sighted in Saudi Arabia, the Supreme Court had announced.

In a statement issued by the Saudi Supreme Court, Tuesday (April 13) has marked the first day of Ramadan.

This will be the second year when the Holy month will be observed under the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.

What Is Ramadan?

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar which is observed by the entire Muslim community from around the world.

The Muslims engage in good deeds and ask for forgiveness and refrain from eating and drinking from dawn until sunset.

This annual practice is considered one of the five pillars of Islam. It is said that Ramadan is the commemoration of Prophet Muhammad’s first revelation.

Importance Of Ramadan:

The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) said,

“When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained” (Bukhari)

In another Hadith, the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) said,

“Whoever fasts during Ramadan out of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah’s rewards, and then all his past sins will be forgiven.” (Bukhari).

Significance Of Ramadan In The Quran:

Allah Almighty has talked about the significance of Ramadan in the Holy Quran in the following verse:

“O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that you may learn piety and righteousness” (Quran, 2:183)

Every Muslim wakes up early to eat a pre-dawn meal “Suhoor” before keeping the fast and they break it with Maghrib prayers “Iftaar”.

The Holy Quran was revealed on the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) in the month of Ramadan that is why it is important for every Muslim to read the entire Quran in the holy month.

“Ramadan is the (month) in which the Quran was sent down, as a guide to mankind, also Clear (Signs) for guidance and the differentiation (between right and wrong)” (Quran, 2:185)

‘Fawad Chaudhry only knows how to mock the religion’, Mufti Muneeb

Mufti Muneeb Zilhajj Moon

Following the Zil Hajj moon controversy, Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman has stressed that it was first-day crescent according to both science and religion.

While reacting strongly to Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry’s statement, Mufti Muneeb asked which science or book of astronomy determines lunar date by the size of moon.

The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee chief remarked that Fawad Chaudhry is portraying himself as an expert of science which is only his ignorance. His only work is to mock the religion, Mufti Muneeb affirmed.

Earlier on Wednesday, Fawad Chaudhry had posted a picture of the crescent on Twitter and wrote, “Is this the first-day moon? Does the moon stay in the sky for so long after the sun sets? Let the people decide for themselves…”

However, Fawad Chaudhry still not ready to accept the decision of Ruet-e-Hilal Committee celebrating Eid-ul-Adha on 1st August.

According to the details, the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has said that the moon could not be sighted due to thick clouds. To which Cuadhry responded, “If there were clouds, how could be the moon sighted?

He went on to say, “The scholars should decide whether technology is forbidden (Haraam) or not. If people can pray by looking and the time, then why moon cannot be seen by technology?”

Fawad Chaudhry concluded by saying, “The Zilhajj moon has already been sighted in Pakistan, you can watch its location on the Ruet App.”

This is not the first time when Fawad Chaudhry proved the technology right. The final decision of celebrating Eid-ul-Adha is yet to be finalized after Fawad’s statements.
